I certainly hope so. I got almost as much entertainment out of poking around in the toolset as I did actually playing the game.

same engine as before so I would imagine it is possible

Im pretty sure that hasn't been confirmed yet...

I hope we can use mods and stuff.

Hmm.... I wonder where I got the idea that they'd switched....

How so? I think it's excellent. It has a steep learing curve, but it's very versatile. You can do pretty much anything you want with it.

some people say it takes way too long and too much effort to make a good quality campaign.

I didn't really get into the toolset with DA:O. Looked through it and did some stuff, but nothing serious. I hope DA2 has a toolset, maybe with more tutorials on the toolset wiki, and I would like to actually start something.

No one knows. So here's a guess:

Not at release. But eventually they'll release one.

We all know the lengths they would go for profit.

There were item DLC's for ME2, so I doubt they'd release any toolset for DA2, because free (and arguably better) alternatives would discourage people from buying item DLC's. Same for mission, gameplay rebalance or NPC modules made with the toolset.

TLDR: No, there won't be any toolset for DA2. It's great for players but it's bad for business.

Rubbish. A talented and active modding community goes a long way in maintaining interest in a game after launch. Providing an active player base that still buys DLCs.

I hope there'll be modding tools and an active modding community, as much as you do.

Let's wait and see.

That would be....annoying...Oh well.
If its not at release I imagine a crap ton of people complaining.

I really hope so in my experience of gameing as long as i have (20 plus years) nothing and i mean nothing drives the fan base like a strong mod community. Another little tid bit is that some might be concerned with some of the modded content but as it is from sources uncontrollable by the developer this content can not be blamed on the developer, for example the many adult mods for DAO. But even more than that the many different armor, weapon, clothing, location, etc etc, there does seem to be something for everyone.

I will admit that sometimes the mods avaliable are the determining factor in whether i will buy a game at all, Oblivion or the Sims2 are perfect examples of this. I have looked at both of those games for awhile and was on the fence concerning them, there was not much to distinguish them from the rest of thier crowd, except very active mod community. The mod community was able to add a level of realism to the game, some armor, clothing, weapons options along with some content of an adult nature that the developers of both of these games would not touch for concern of the FOX type foaming at the mouth. This allows the developers some plausable deniability as in "we can not be held responsible for content we did not generate, thanks for your time" and they get to walk away. It is a beautyful thing really.

So yea make with the tool set or i will hold your feet to the fire to provide that content, and as a member of a Sims pay site i am not opposed to paying for it either. Life IS a monetary transaction. The question becomes a matter of do you want my money and have to deal with the foaming at the mouth Bioware, or allow the community to provide the content?

Access to a toolset was one of the primary reasons I decided to spend money on Origins in the first place. Being able to customize the game and add community content and patches, for me, adds longevity to the game. I really don't care how easy or complicated the tool is, those of us who want to use it will figure it out. How long was Origins released before we had access to the toolset? I wasn't here at release, so I don't know. Please, Bioware, *Please* don't take the ability to mod the game away from us!

I think Origins has been out about 9-10 months now.
