I do actually like the name "Hawke," cheesy as it is.

nice job Bioware, now everyone is gonna give Hawke a silly/stupid name.
not the fault of the player that the name is already hardcoded
Kela and I will happily take responsibility for this thread of silly. BioWare's been blamed for enough silly stuff today
Though really, I too am baffled at how silly the name sounds. It looks fine written, I guess, but when pronounced, it gets pretty bad pretty quickly.
I thought we agreed his last name was pronounced H'a'we'ke? That way when I name him Kamehameha I don't feel silly
if you pronounce it "Hawky" it sounds cute

Problem is that if you pronounce it that way, Black Hawke and White Hawke sound truly terrible
Also, if it's being pronounced Hawky, the character should be named Momo Hawky so the game explodes from cute. Props if you got that.

Silliness aside, I've occassionally used the name "Nathaniel Locke" in a few Renaissance/Pirate themed settings. As far as I'm concerned, "Nathaniel Hawke" is an acceptable little deviation.
That was the PC's name in Pirates of the Caribbean, a.k.a. Bethesda's Sea Dogs 2.

Enjoy! Though Momo was Kela's idea and not mine. I just started watching Avatar literally a few days ago, and blew through the series. I've literally done nothing but write articles for work and watch Avatar for a couple days straight. Just finished the season three finale last night.

it shouldve been hunt. I like hunt but some like hawke. Some men like hawke but I like hunt. Some women like hunt but most like hawke.
I personally think Hunt just sounds like the last name for a game like Alpha Protocol. Nice generic spy name, but not very Dragon Age-y. And it's still easier to come up with stupid names for Hunt (like Zombie Hunt) than it is for something like Cousland or Amell.
That's a new one. Zombie Hawke.

See once you mention Zombie Hawke you open a huge can of worms. Next there'll be Pirate Hawke and Ninja Hawke running around having epic battles. Oh the humanity!

Pirate Hawke is accompanied by his dastardly sidekick, Parrot Hawke.
Biologists everywhere weep and knoweth not why.
