And yet none of these names seem quite right - what we need is something confidently masculine yet also sensitive, something stern yet also approachable, Anglo-American yet not overpoweringly so...

...ah, I've got it. He should be called...Mike!

I'm definately calling my first character Sparrow. And he'll be a mage.

As for coming up with a suitable female name... I'm not sure. I usually call my female characters Zooey or Samaire. Zooey Hawke isn't so bad... for a rogue or stylish warrior.

Okay, if it can't be Mike, why not Mack?

Why would Sparrow not be a suitable name for a female?

At a guess, because of Ursula Le Guin's Earthsea books.

Sparrow Hawke = Sparrowhawk

Mike Hawke will not be denied. He swells with indignation at your rules.

Arc Hawke. How about that?

Sukak Hawke. Better?

Because they have no standard sensible etymology, then that makes them EXTRA fantastic and perfect for an RPG.

Nice :)

Dunno if there's any way for BioWare to keep track of the goofy names we use once the games come out, but I'd be curious to see how many people actually name Hawke something absurd when they play the game.

Ebon Hawke just reminds me of how much I want a Knights of the Old Republic III.

On topic though, I think I'll have to stick with Mike Hawke for now...

Wait, so this is basicly just a thread about silly names?

Man, I was hoping to see some serious stuff I could steal use as an inspiration.:P

Hey, some people have come up with decent names :D  Though I challenge you to come up with a first name that goes with Hawke and doesn't sound silly.

I was thinking that for mine but as Toma. Anyway that'll be my Warrior.
Chi Hawke will be my mage
&
Pete Hawke will be my Templar, granted I play through with all three classes.

I'll probably name one of my warriors, the "honor before reason" type, after Eddard Stark. Eddard Hawke has a decent ring to it.
