It's not what I'd call a sequel. Origins seems to be a blueprint you map out for future DA games, and I'm fine with that. The game takes place in a world SHAPED by the decisions you make as the Warden.
But to each his own, I guess.

I forsee people going "Wtf?!? How is this DA3 and I can't play Hawke anymore!!! What about Jane and Bob??? They were my favourite characters and now we're FORCED to play some no-name in Tevinter" when DA3 is announced
ME was announced as a trilogy from the start and it was never said that DA would continue the same character. In fact it was said several times they have many different stories to tell. People don't expect to play the same character in Elder scrolls or fallout games and they're called Elder scrolls I, II, III... and Fallout 1, 2, 3 but all of the sudden they're surprised that DA2 isn't about the warden again.
We weren´t told we wouldn´t, either, and most assumed we would.
Elder Scrolls characters and plots didn´t have sequel hooks left as DA did AFAIK, there are several decades between Fallout games, and so on.
DA"2" takes place in a really close timeframe. Reminds me more of FEAR2 (that was worse, the first ended in cliffhanger - expansions are non canon), or Kotor 2, which started throwing away kotor1 (and now both by TOR). There are stablished characters who can take the weight of the story, but we have to go to a new one and then s/he is fixed human. That said, I don´t want the Warden becoming Champion of Kirkwall, too anticlimatic for someone who dealt with a Blight.
I hope DA3 doesn´t feature Hawke. If they are going to use this gimmick they should keep it. Otherwise the only reason for Hawke is VO. Does it compensate the limitations it brings along (losing the Warden, no more Origins and no race choice at least).

I doubt any decision the Warden made will be known outside of Ferelden (besides DR) without it feeling forced. The Warden was so competent that the Blight was a local war. My guess is instead of e-mails we´´l learn a bit of how Ferelden is going during the timeframe.

Yeah, the FEAR series really is not that great when talking about continuity in video games.

I'm hoping we get a real butterfly effect this time, unlike the reverse variant we got in ME2 where major decisions created really small consequences.

I would like that too, but while in ME they took the easy way out (though I guess the heavy ones, such as Rachni, will have a bit more of pay off close to the end of ME3), most we did in DA was Ferelden centered. Changes in the story we play would come forced.
The only other game I can think with choices import is TW2. Fell curious how it will play there. As a start it seems having sided against rebels means they´ll treat you (even) worse, but they aren´t making so big a fuss as the ME team. Hope they don´t cop out too.

Why can't people just accept that their companions are gone? Why do they keep stepping on it over and over?
I think we should be gratefull to have another point of view of the story... Plus the Warden won't last more than 30 years. If you payed attention to your dialogues with Alistair, you'll know that the warden's life expenctancy is short thanks to the taint in their blood.
By the time we play Awakening I got a feeling that a good time passed by, wich shortens it even more.
Well, Awakening supposedly takes place only 6 months after the end of DA:O. And, 30 years isn't so short a period of time, certainly not enough to consider the Warden "dying" more than than any other person is.
That being said, I agree with your main point (see this as an opportunity to meet new characters), just not the reasoning you used to support it in this post.

With that said, I am just hoping that somehow our Wardens' will show up in the game at some point. I know the new art style may render that impossible.
I have the feeling that will be the case. After all, the devs have said we will see characters from DA:O/A, but they will look like as though they were painted by a different artist, so to speak. It is possible to import a Warden and have DA2 turn out a character that actually looks recognizable? I have no idea, but I kinda doubt it.

You have your opinion and I respect that, but its really nothing we can do. They could even make it a total "sin" free game, I would't really care, it would just get a bit more boring.
No offense but if you think Saibh is asking for a "sin-free" game, I think you missed her point.

Ok, from what I seen in some interviews they said if you liked Mass Effect 2 you will like this. Guess what Mass Effect 2 had? Shepard. That makes it a sequel. I'm looking at DA2 as just a new game based on the history and folklore of DAO. I really don't consider it a true sequel. True sequels bring back the main character.
Is this the No True Scotsman argument?
"A game isn't a sequel if it uses a different PC than the one from the first game."
"Actually no, the definition of the word 'sequel' doesn't require that."
"Well, I don't consider it to be a TRUE sequel!"

Only not. You're wrong.

Heh, I've wondered that myself about all the people going on about how Bioware is lavishing everything on Hawke at the expense of the Warden. What will they say when DA3 is done with another new character.

No, I dind't meant it that way.
What I meant is, if we include nudity in the same box as, violence, death, war and that stuff like that and if we threw that box into the garbadge, the game would still be there, only less interesting and missing major components.
I know a game can live without nudity, hell, tons of game out there doesn't have the slightest sexual content and I love them, but RPGs, specially BioWare RPGs, have this element as part of them. I don't know about you but one of the things that drawn me a lot to BioWare was the type of games they had and they depth of reality in it, specially in relationships, relationships in games for me is like a carrot in front of a donkey's nose lol.
Wich comes to my mind... why the hell were we arguing about a Witcher game in a Dragon age thread?

Which ones? I don't think we have any official word on which stage each screen is from, but the most recently released ones already look way better than the ones released a month back do, so it's safe to assume they're going to be a lot better by release.

The early ones looked like it, the more recent ones look like beta near its final stage, therefore there is always room for improvement.

Don't worry, most of the information there can't be considered more than "techincal".
The devs are keeping the most important ones hidden till release.
