@SirOccam: I LOVE the new color coding. I always hated hunting through the facts to find the newest stuff.

I really like the news being in a dif color. Makes it so I don't have to skim over everything I have read again and again. Thanks

Well, folks, I've just been playing Planescape Torment again. The Nameless One, the main character, is exactly the same as Hawkeye, a single character, meeting team members on his travels. All you can do at the start is input his stats, probably the same as Hawkeye. The point is that Planescape is a brilliant game with reams upon reams of text. If DA2 was similar where the spoken word replaces the text then it, too, should be brilliant. Hopefully there'll be lots and lots of spoken dialogue, replacing any text, adding even more to the immersion, as opposed to just a few words spoken now and then. The Nameless One, too, had to discover things about himself, just like Hawkeye. It should make for a gripping storyline. I tend to suspect that this will be a very good game, even better than DAO.

Well if any of you have recieved your gift of The Staff of Parthalan the item description seems to allude to the plot of DA2. The item seems to be the suspected "polearm" type weapon that was weilded by Hawke in the trailer which also leads me to believe that said Hawke was indeed a mage.

The item description goes as this:

Magic has always run strongly within the Hawke bloodline. The tales passed down from one generation to the next tell of an ancestor named Parthalan, a mage who long ago helped to unite Ferelden under the rule of King Calenhad. Parthalan eventually vanished into legend, fleeing the persecution of the Chantry, but his legacy remains in the hands of his family - along with his hope that one day, mages would achieve the freedom that King Calenhad intended to bring to all men.

Seems like a bit of foreshadowing to me, possible Hawke is fighting for the freedom of mages?

I can't speak for anyone else, but personally I heard that first in my head while I was at PAX listening to Hawke speak. :P And then tweeted it moments after leaving the booth. :wizard:

Dont google him at all, i dont want to know his voice until i play the game. Come on people you dont want to know the games ending before it comes out, do you?

Actually, you probably do want to know the ending.

God, they need to just announce Hawke's VA already so my eye can stop twitching when someone claims they know who it is.

I read just yesterday that someone on the forums played the demo and thought Hawke sounded too "pleasant." That he wasn't badass enough and would've preferred another voice. Pardon me if I believe that sounds a bit more like Bramhill. Much as I adore his VO. Not only that, but yesterday I spent quite a few hours between reading how much Cailan sucks and how everyone in the thread/article/LJ post thought he was dumb and disliked him. While people do have a knee-jerk reaction to Vaughan, it's more of a OH YEAH HE'S A DOUCHE than a "ohhh I hate him so much, I'm going to write an article about how much he sucks" sort of thing. Sounds like a winner to me. *grumbles*

Then again, I suppose I'll be nom nomming on my foot if you're correct. Oh well.

Also, edit, but seriously, stop with the Mass Effect thing. It's not funny anymore. Oh wait. It never was.

I need my coffee.

*twitch*

I'm with Calla on this, the ME comparisons are getting old.

And personally, I rather liked Cailan and Vaughan, in terms of their voice-acting. Actually, I'm a sucker for all of the Theirin boys but yeah, just because one kind of character seems annoying doesn't mean that particular voice-actor can't do something different (and most of the time peoples' feelings regarding their dislike or liking of a character has little to do with the voice-acting work but more to do with how they feel about the character's personality).

It's still a tactical battle system as in you can pause, survey the battle, and assign tasks, just like Origins. The devs have just made it more responsive. You can play it like a hack n slash (no pausing or using the radial menu) but the devs don't recommend it later in the game.

I've seen Dragon Age 2 gameplay footage today on First Look! I've actually seen female Hawke in action and I was able to ask questions about the game after the demonstration. It was awesome! Although the graphics kinda sucked. :-(

The character models looked awesome, even better than in Dragon Age: Origins. The combat looks promising and especially on the Xbox360 it goes a lot faster than the console version of DA:O. But the environment was a bit of a letdown. The environment was pretty empty and ugly. I hope that's gonna change!

Oh and and the voice-wheel (ala Mass Effect) works even better in DA2 than it does in Mass Effect! In DA2 you can actually see what kind emotion goes along with the comment you pick. There is no Paragon/Renegade system, but instead you have the calm response (up), the sarcastic response (middle) and the violent response (down).

it's not limited to those 3 types of responses you know?

I think the options depend on the situation. In the demo I've seen they only had those 3 options for that specific situation. They let the audience (us) decide which responses they should choose during the demo. Everyone ofcourse screamed "PICK THE VIOLENT OPTIONS!" and so they did, resulting in a kick-ass violent female Hawke.
