Didn't someone at bioware said that Hawke's mother is related to the human mage origins warden?

They share the same family name (Hawkes mother and the human mage origin).  I think that was touched on in the most recent podcast.

They are related:police:

I'm just wondering what they'll do with the people who had their warden marry Alistair/Anora *cough* (me), because I'm pretty sure the Monarch of Ferelden will be making an appearance. I would at least like them to mention something about it if that is the case, otherwise I would be tremendously disappointed.

I'm curious about how it's going to work out at all. I'm assuming we'll just see some of the ramifications of our Origins warden, but...dunno. BioWare has a tendency to surprise me. =)

I can't help but wonder just how much could be carried over into DA2. I wouldn't be able to have any interaction with my warden no matter what, primarily because I sacrificed him in the end.

Really looking forward to DA2 either way, though. I just hope I can get as involved with it as I did with Origins. Being able to customize and "voice" your own character, per se, added a great deal of depth. Of course, if DA2's anything like a Mass Effect 2/Dragon Age: Origins hybrid, I'll be plenty impressed.

Here is a (possibly) dumb question, but I just noticed that Flemeth's hairstyle looks like qunari horns. Why is that?

EDIT: Ha. Seems like this is the thing people are noticing today because I just found a thread about it created 8 hours ago. Anyway, it's still odd.

Is there any news on how long Dragon Age 2 will be? I've read some comments that it will be the same length as Mass Effect 2 (40-50 hours). I hope that's not true and it's more close to the original Dragon Age because I enjoyed all the 100 hours I put into the game.

Shorter than Origins but longer than Awakening.

I think its because her shapeshift form is a dragon, if you payed attention to the teaser and her several pics in this topic, you'll see that the dragon's horns and her "hair" have the same form.
See it as a mark of her power, an image/icon to scare people away.

I'd hope the story would be a good 40-50 hours,a nd with sidequests and such, close to 65.

Probably, with another replay to try new choices it will defenitly be worth in length.
And if they release the toolset sometime after releasing the game, it will be another replay to see all the new mods and stuff.

I'm not sure if there is a topic for this anywhere but I will post it here. Things I would like to see in DA2

1. Some good extras for importing a DAO character, and extras for all your achievments in DAO.
2. more of a variety of weapons and armor design
3. A better toolset for modding
4. More classes, and specialzations
5. Try to release the game so it made to work well with Win7 64 bit, and multicore cpu's like I7

I'd like to see "extras" for achievements in DAO and DAA -- these would be on record via XBox Live for us console users (I know: Heretics). But we did love the games. I just don't have the $2000 to have a high powered gaming computer.

And Morrigan by this time has had Alister's bastard child. The heir to the throne, since my Elizabeth Cousland (avatar), bearing the taint like Alister would be very unlikely to have a child by Alister. However this would only come into play for a DA3 if there is one. So the story twists a little more.

There were some interesting things that happened in my human noble playthrough: the urn was destroyed; Wynne died at the urn; I will miss Shale, although having the "squishy" Dwarf Shale of House Cadash show up as a side kick part way through DA2 would be awesome. Kolgrim lives unless "Andraste" ate him, although not seeing that fanatic wouldn't be missed.

Morrigan and Shale were my favorite sidekicks. Cammen and Gheyna probably became werewolves. Leiliana and her constant chattering about the Maker and the chantry was annoying, but kept around for opening chests and stuff and ranged attacks.

There get to be so many variables in this that aside from the very main interactions it would be very difficult to put all the outcomes into a new game. Although I do have to admit that kicking Conrad Werner in the quad at the bar in ME2, and watching the Asari bartender's reactions to Conrad's dialogue was one of the better carry-over interactions I've seen in a sequel game.

What would really be cool is if Bioware could work out something with XBox Live for the top rated user generated content to be available for free download in addition to the pay for download stuff from Bioware, or would that require too many scripting issues?

I loved the Shepard option in Mass Effect 1 & 2. But I do have to say that as good as the female Shepard voice acting (Jennifer Hale) was, the male Shepard's was bad IMO.

Okay enough of this. Let's go squash something.

Perhaps, but I will point out that under those circumstances (it's Alistair's child and he's on the throne), Morrigan still points out that she has no intention of using the child as an heir.

You don't need a super rig to play computer games. This is an outdated myth. Heck, I'm playing on a Mac with only 1.9GHz dedicated to Boot Camp.

This. I only spent about $1200-$1400 for the parts/OS for my current rig. :innocent:

But seriously. You can get a decent gaming PC for even far cheaper than that. Still, I understand not even being able to afford that. I bought the Xbox version of DA:O first because I couldn't afford a better PC and didn't want to wait any longer after five years. I eventually got the PC version after building a better computer, and I don't think I could go back to consoles if given the choice. Still, the console versions are far better than no DA:O at all, right? :wizard:

Computers require an upgrade every 3 years, more or less, if nothing happens to it till then.
Consoles can stand longer time without needing replacement, and I think it must be awsome playing a game like this in a huge TV screen.
I allways had a computer and I would't choose any other way to play games, though it pisses me off when I want to play a certain game and I can't because it doesn't exist for PC.
I don't know about others, but DA:O was really favoured for the computer version, the mods toke the cake and I believe the graphics were better too.

Some games totally fry our hardware if we aren't carefull, Crysis is one of those, hell I hate to play games in low/medium graphic options, I tried it High and I believe a could cook a meal in it after an hour or two.
Consoles are like tanks, they can sustain a lot of pressure.

So the only down thing in all this is if a company decides to make a game only specific to a console... like Fable 2.

I've gotten away with four or five, actually. My current rig is an Athlon 3600 with an x1650 Pro vidcard, and I haven't seen any reason to upgrade anything yet. Maybe in a year or so I'll need to.

I don't know what an equivalent PC would cost today. I think you'd be forced to buy a better vidcard, since cards as bad as the x1650 aren't made anymore. Still runs DA fine, though I have to crank the fans up to max or the card will overheat.

Well yes, if you wanted to upgrade your comp right now, it would've been better just to buy a new one, because you'll have to buy every single new component.
Its simple, new graph cards and rams will not accept older motherboards or vice-versa, and motherboards are money suckers by themselfs, so its a new one.
I don't find DA:O very demaning when it comes to that, but most games nowadays are better enjoyed at best options it has to offer, to run in medium its kinda a rip off IMO.
And don't forget the hardrives too, those bastards are always usefull I have one that is 300Gigs, split, and both have enough stuff to fill more than 50%.

Shorter than origins...Why? Origins wasn't long. Not to sound complaining, but I though DA was fairly medium length. Going beneath medium length is not my cup of tea. It's just me, but it seems like they were releasing a game rather short, but with good content. And then releasing DLC to fill it up.

How long a game is depends on the player, but the amount of content stays the same. I don't truly want to believe the "game is shorter than DA but longer than awakening" crap. Awakening was beyond short, if saying a full game is longer than an expansion is needed, then I am a little disappointed. On the bright side I will surely find DA2 enjoyable no matter what. I guess it's going to be a shorter enjoyment than origins though.

What lacks in size excels in plot, or so I hope.
I also find it hard for a game that will span 10 years, to be shorter than origins :/ but its not really up to me for decide.
I'm pretty sure it will be a very good game, BioWare always made masterpieces, I'm sure this will be no diferent.

Don't forget that the whole DA unniverse will be in 3 main games and several expansions, all combined make a huge entretainment of months Posted Image

This is a bit random, but... why is Bethany's head so small compared to the rest of her in that screenshot? Though maybe that red scarf making her neck look longer and breasts the size of her face is just throwing me off.

SPOILER!!!!

Here's an article I found on PC Gamer website, which is pretty good, giving lots of info I didn't know
about. http://www.pcgamer.c...s-effect-specs/  I know it was written almost a month ago, but I've been trying not to spoil my game by reading too much about it. Curiosity won!

Same here.  Then again I don't believe that a game must be a certain length in order to be good.

It's not needed--it wasn't meant to be definitive statement.  The devs have always stressed that game length can vary widely based on how each player plays the game.
