Though this idea of mine probably wont happen, one way that they could make the Warden appear is to upload your save file and then recreate your Warden with the DA2 character creator. But this idea is improbable.

Yeah I always thought it would be cool to see the Warden even from a distance, just walking by, but after hearing them talk about returning characters/cameos and making them look like they did in Origins, I don't think it's very likely they'd be able to come up with something that could do it dynamically, at least not well enough.

I don't think mods are a big deal...a very small percentage of players even used mods, and everyone who did should know full well that their mods aren't going to be supported.

Edit: here's the post I was thinking of...

Yeah, I'm just curious (and this isn't necessarily aimed at you) why if there were plans on bringing back certain characters, there wasn't some functionality built into the new head morph system to utilize some of the Origins faces, at least structurally speaking? I'd just hate to have some returning human character like an Alistair, Nathaniel Howe, or Morrigan show back up and only be able to recognize them based on their hair style or only after they open their mouth and you recognize the voice actor.............

Fortunately we have our methods of approximating one to the other and getting it close, should we need to. That's what i was referring to, in part, about not being 100% identical but still sharing the structural and cosmetic similarities and being recognizable. However, putting all the points about why they might look different aside, when dealing with two models of varying poly counts and vertex numbers its a little more challenging to make one look like the other at a microscopic level. The topology and flow of the DA:O mesh is not as optimized for animation as the DA2 ones and therefore may not accurately wrap cleanly along the same lines, curves and shapes of eachother, particularly when speaking. There will always be subtle differences.

As far as Alistair and Nathaniel Howe or Morrigan and other key npcs are concerned, should they ever re-appear in Dragon Age with the new head system, you might double-take, but my hope is you'll be pleasantly relieved (maybe even a little excited!).

Alistair and Nathaniel gonna look totally unrecognizable? Lelianna and Wynne gonna change bra sizes and wear thigh high boots (like Isabella and Flemmeth too if you look at screenshots and concept art)? Sten gonna have horns?

Any character from DAO is going to look different, yes. We can't simply import their face and appearance, or they would look very much out of place next to the new models and art style. So if and when we do them, they're face needs to be re-made using the new face morphing system and they need to use existing body/armor models (unless they're getting a unique one, like Flemeth has).

The more I think about it, the more all signs seem to point to no...

Thank you SirOccam.
I said it was improbable anyways, but thank you :)

But why would they not put Alistair in the game, at least? I mean, if he was made king by the Warden and DA2 spans 10 years (starting at Lothering), wouldn't it make sense to include him?

Regarding conversation system with companions, can anyone confirm that Dragon Age 2 will be the same as Dragon Age: Origins or will it be more like Awakening where clicking on a companion doesn't initiate a conservation and discussions are limited compared to DAO?

He probably WILL be in the game, if only for a cameo. Including him as a full-time follower wouldn't really make sense, for the simple fact that King Alistair and Warden Alistair and Dead Alistair all have other things they're dealing with. Only Drunkard Alistair would have the free time, if not the motivation, to join Hawke.

I could kick myself for not trying to do this during the demo, but it's quite possible that it wouldn't have worked in the demo even if it is intended to work in the full game.

What I've heard, however, is that it includes aspects of the dialogue systems of both games, but to call it a "mix" wouldn't be accurate.

You and me both. *facepalm* not that there are many areas that are calm in the demo and you always have that feeling of not stopping to chat due to the queue forming behind you, heh. That said, surely someone would have thought to try it who posts here?

As far I can remember, the only concrete information we've got about how it works is that you won't be clicking on objects to trigger conversations like in Awakening.

I'm not big fan of Awakening's dialogue system i.e. the whole clicking objects. But as long as our character gets to talk to companions and discussions are ample, nothing like n iAwakening while in campsite, keep or wherever the party is holding up, I'm fine with that. I find it satisfying to have nice long conversation with your companions after finishing a main quest to get to know them more. Like it's a reward.

I liked the concept on paper, but as an addition or complement to what was in DAO. It would be cool to be able to talk with your companions about the specific setting you're in, and perhaps even extend that to discussing current events or their take on your last main quest. But it was annoying having to scour every zone just to have a chance to talk to your group period.

heres a question for you: (im taking this back to the whole morrigans baby thing)

why is everyone assuming that this child will grow up normally? its got the soul of a god after all, youd think it wouldnt be normal.

p.s if this has already been discussed then shoot me for not reading all of the 134 pages of discussion because i cbf

Well I don't think it will necessarily be a normal childhood...I mean even if it were fully human it's still got Morrigan for a mother. But we really have no idea what it means to have the soul of an Old God. Who knows how that will manifest itself? We've got no precedent.

He could be performing supernatural feats as a baby, or maybe he'll have no clue he's different at all until he's told.

Sadly, no. On the contrary, they've said that Claudia Black isn't in the game, so unless Morrigan is silent or has a different voice, she's not in the game.

How is that even possible? She's such a huge part of Dragon Age, I would have expected her to be in the game in some form.

It is Hawke's story, not Morrigan's story.
Not to worry, with Flemeth being in game, I'm sure that we will atleast hear about Morrigan.
But as for now, Morrigan is off doing her own thing. (SPOILER the eluvian END SPOILER)

This post clarifies that the devs can track who killed the Archdemon. No Awakening "I got better" syndrome.

I suppose the best we can hope for is some sort of Alistair cameo. Besides him and Flemeth, I don't think any of the original cast will make an appearance. Image IPB

At least with Mass Effect 2 most of the original cast made an appearence. Even though I didn't like what they did with Ash, it was still nice that they included her and the others. I was kinda hoping for something like that in DA2, just done better.

It was a great game, but it's a bit different than ME1. It's more of a shooter, so a lot of the RPG mechanics have been reduced and in some cases even removed altogether. It's not like ME1 was a very deep RPG to begin with, so removing what little the first game had was, in my opinion, a dumb move.

I believe Bioware has expressed regret on this forum over some of those decisions made during the development of ME2 and is setting out to rectify them in ME3. Still, it explains why a lot of people on here express concern over the development of Dragon Age 2. They don't want to see the same thing happen again.

I generally dont like shooters. But I will still play ME2 to see how it goes.

I think DA2 will be good. I dont like how fast the combat animations are but I am willing to wait and see how it turns out. I can understand the complaints, but it doesnt look all that different to me. I played Origins on Xbox, so assigning skills to a certain button and pushing them isnt all that new to me. B

I have a question for all of you, how was the gameplay for the PC? I take it you didnt assign skills to a certain button and push it.
