This is disappointing I wanted to import my warden and continue to play as my warden and continue to travel with the old party members, since that isn't the case I just saved myself some money. so I'll just continue to play Dragon age and all of the dlc.
By that logic you should never play any game other than DA:O ever again.
It's a new game. It is not DA:O. Awakening and Witch Hunt are DA:O2.
Honestly, it shouldn't even be called DA2. It should be Dragon Age: The Champion or something.

Exactly how so? I feel they left us with more of a "Wuh?" cliffhanger. There could be so much more to tell. My Warden was a flipping queen!DalishRanger wrote...

Yeah, that doesn't mean the story isn't over. So you're a queen?
The Warden's story was done (this is extremely evident to those that played Witch Hunt). Thedas' story? Not so much.

In reality the story was not over in my eyes. They just got bored of the Warden. But it's whatever. Hawke could have the same response by DA3.

Well, yeah, it's not over in your eyes... but they kind of make the games.

I'm happy with not being able to play the warden again. I imagine it would be tricky to make a continuation of the warden story given all the possible endings.

It's possible. There would just be an "origin" for each ending. A short segment which explains why the prince-consort, paragon, etc. left to go do whatever. However, I don't see that happening. The world wouldn't last long if there were only one hero on it at any given time. At best, I could see the warden being reborn at later parts of history and meeting up with an immortal Morrigan throughout many many lifetimes. But even then that assumes you romanced her and/or certain criteria were meet. Without picking a canon scenario it would be a mess and probably ****** off even more people.
But I rather prefer that the game spans different areas, with different people, in different times within the Dragon Age. That's why I don't like the DA2 title. It should be Dragon Age: <insert theme>. Then people can stop approaching it as a sequel to Origins and see it as its own game. I suspect the next game will have a elf protagonist, maybe the next a Qunari, the next a dwarf, etc.

I was looking forward to continuing with my warden, like many here but then I also realized, the leveling would quickly get out of hand and same with the weaponry, etc. So starting from scratch with another character from another area does make sense. Bioware should of at least had a nice long cut scene after you go through the mirror with Morrigan, explaining just about everything and setting it up for DA 2 / 3. Or if you killed her or just let her go and got the book, same thing, a nice long cut scene explaining those choices and their outcomes. But the ending was left completely open and no questions were answered and our warden and old characters are no more as well and nothing to do with the God baby or Morrigan, etc. It seems Witch Hunt was rushed out to shut us all up or something.......could of been done so much better for a final ending DLC.
I think that DA 2 is a continuation of the morrigan storyline in a sense. As said in the latest DLC apparently Flemeth is alive and a threat to everything. Since it was flemeth's idea to have morrigan carry out the ritual it kinda makes me think she intended to possess morrigan's body to raise the Old god child then perhaps make it do her bidding or possess it once it came of age continuing the cycle but this time being damn near invincible. According to the spoilers we know flemeth makes an appearance in DA2 and i think helps out Hawke. Everytime flemeth has helped out someone its always because she wishes to use them like it says in her Lore and in the plot lines of Origins and The Stolen throne (book). I think that she might be using Hawke to help her find the old god baby or something. While Morrigan is getting more powerful to take on flemeth and protect the child as she states in the Witch Hunt DLC. This doesn't really make sense if your warden took the ultimate sacrifice but then again there would be no Witch Hunt quest for your warden unless Alistair died for you or you imported your dead character.

You should be able to import from WH or GoA or anywhere else. That's not to say they will necessarily use a bunch of the stuff from those DLCs, but at least it'll be there for when they are ready to use it.Flurdt07 wrote...
Okay, may be in the wrong place for this, may even have already been discussed somewhere and I have over looked it. So, any info or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I have a slew of characters in Origins, once you beat Origins you import to Awakening, then import to Golems then to Witch Hunt .... my question is when Dragon Age 2 comes out will my Witch Hunt file (being the last quest in the Wardens story line) be what I load, or import or whatever it is in Dragon Age 2, or is the Origins save file the only one that matters? Very curious about this. Im replaying the game yet again, and I just want to know if it even matters if I go beyond Origins into Awakening or what? Any insight would be awesome

By that logic you should never play any game other than DA:O ever again.
By that logic you would never buy Halo 2 or 3 because Master Chief was in them all or any other game that is touted as a sequel. The problem is that DA2 was touted as a sequel but it's not a true sequel in the sense of the word especially when you change it to a framed narrative. The only real similarities are that it takes place in Thedas and that Flemeth is in it. They do have some of the same creatures, however they barely resemble those in DA:O. Even the Qunari look different. Did you see what they did to the Emissaries? They look like anemic vampires.
Don't get me wrong, I am excited about this game, but I really don't view it as a sequel so much as a game based off of DA:O. I've said it before, I'll say it again, they should have called it "Dragon Age: Rise to power" then come out with a DA game that would allow for the import of our wardens as a tie in. Bioware has always done well with story telling, however they should work a little more about the nuances of continuity. I am sure that the game itself will be one that you won't want to put down and if you approach it as a new game BASED on the DA:O world then you will enjoy the game for its own story.

It's downright insane to make such a request. I knew the sequel would not have continued the Warden's story when Morrigan offered me the DR.

It's completely beyond me how people can possibly think that the Warden's story can be continued. Do you have any idea just how many scenarios would have to be taken into account for a sequel? Think about all the possible combinations of race/ origin/ story choices there could be in DAO: the amount of time, money and work that would have to go into a sequel is unfathomable.

Its no use banging our head agains't a wall.
If they want to keep playing as a Warden, thats their problem, those who want to move on and get new points of view are welcome to do so.
"Mega fans" can be incredibly stubburn when it comes to their favourite character moving on or not.
I keep saying: Dreams and reality are like two huge pits with a tiny fragile bridge in betwen. You either know how to balance yourself or you fall and never see the other side again.
In this case, I believe the "Mega fans" fell hard into the dream pit and broke a few bones.
Fanfiction people, fanfiction is the solution to your problems.
In fact if this game was named any other thing other than DA2, I believe people would't complain so much.
All this mess just because they can't accept the fact that the world doesn't spin around a single character.

I concern myself with repetitive play on the same character when the day comes for a DragonAge MMO MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA ooooohhhh I know, I shouldnt have said that, still come on, to be honest that seems to be the only place were you can continue to play a fantasy character indefinitely. The sad fact is, that no matter how you look at it, all games no matter how amazing have an ending. If you dont want it to end, then truly your only options are replay or MMO. Thats about it.
Wrong, nothing truly ends unless you want it to.
Imagination, dreams, fanfiction, actions are just the base keys for you to do and continue anything.
Ofc its not as "tasty" as if happened in real, but its better than nothing and there we can do stuff our own way.
Its a shame that we haven't got to the reality where fans make the game, I mean big ones like this, not flash games. But still, we are in the right direction... one day maybe...
Dragon age 2 MMO? Tempting, but I still prefer Guild Wars 2

Wikipedia
A sequel is a work in literature, film, or other media that portrays events set in the same fictional universe as a previous work, usually chronologically following the events of that work.
I googled it. Just because it irritates me when people complain about the main character failing to reappear in a sequel. Just because your warden doesn't reappear doesn't make it less of a sequel. It's a sequel simply because it takes place in Thedas. The irony here is that some of these people saying that it ISN'T a sequel are the same people saying that they want to see familiar characters. Characters from a previous game kinda implies sequel.
Its actually done quite often, so I don't see what all the noise is about. They did it with Neverwinter, Final Fantasy does it with every installment...some stories just shouldn't be over done. Personally, I think that all of the DLC for origins completed the overall story. There are a couple of loose ends, but who's to say they won't be tied up in DA2?
I reserve my judgement for release day.

So... How is it a sequal?
No Warden?
No Morrigan ending?
No Morrigan's child?
No return of old favorite characters?
All new adventure?
Anyone else as dissapointed as I am?
I'm not. Morrigan pissed me off to no end and my characters made the "ultimate sacrifice." Hard for my character to be doing much more than stinkin up the place at this point. But it also seems I'm in the minority around here, I for one welcome change.....DA2 being nothing more than a DA:O continuation would have done nothing for me.
Im really looking forward to DA2 tbh so you're not alone
