I think there were many possibilities for continuing the warden's story, which, regrettably, were ignored for DA:A, which just diverged into its own side adventure, rather than bringing back and paying for all of the bad ass voice actors DA:O used. A surviving warden, I think, should have been able to use the alliances gained, along with renewed good will towards the Grey Wardens, to push for more action against the darkspawn. An expansion based on a preemptive blight campaign could have been really interesting.

In any event, I think BW could have done a lot more with Ferelden and the Warden's efforts to clean up the place.

All the same, Thedas is a big world with lots of possbilities, and I think Hawke could be a lot of fun. It's important, when building up fantasy worlds/franchises, to establish there's more going on than the occasional apocalyptic event. It sounds to me like Hawke's story might be much more similar to BG than DA:O's was. It'll be fun to be something unique, unlike the warden, who was fundamentally just taking on an epic, but periodic, chore.

As far as gameplay, making things faster and more stylized isn't necessarily dumbing it down; although the reduced itemization for npcs sucks. I was looking forward to giving them epic hand-me-downs. ;)

Question: Since DA2 is using an ME dialogue system, how will social skills be used? Still persuade/intimidate checks, or something new?

Well they aren't having any female Qunari in Dragon Age 2....even though there's concept art for them...y'all know what this means right?

David Gaider (or someone) Just had them draw the picture of the female Qunari so that they could take it into a dark room and...well you get the point? Need I describe what every pubescent male on the planet does with their free time?

hmmm I don't know how feel about this game it looks good and all but the new Hurlock look is ugly. Image IPB

they look more like human corpses rather then darkspawn, maybe I'll get use to it but they look wrong to me.

I think this game is going to give us insight on some of the change that's coming to the world of Thedas, I don't think that we are going to see all of the change in this game because of Morrigans god child which I think will play a more importen role later on most likely in the third game.

I will buy this game but I'm not impressed by it yet but that can change later on.

I hope Hawke doesn't return as the main playable character in later games simple because BW can't do it without making the fans compare it even more to the Mass Effect series, which many people already have because of some the changes that have happened in this game already.

Not all concept art are used in-game, or it might be used at a later time.

I'm all for the Qunari. It would be really interesting playing as one in the future.

I usually drop by this thread every four days or so, but is it just me or has the rate at which news is published here decreased lately?

Edit: Not saying that this is due to the OP, of course, but that the rate of news coming out of BW has decreased?

Maybe a bit. I'm betting it will pick up significantly after the new year, or even in December.

Jesus Chirst people, calm down... its not even a month later after the last updated and you already have fire in your pants.
If you really what to know new stuff I welcome you to the world of "Do Your Own Search" like the OP needs to do, and maybe with your help, we'll get an update faster.

If there was something substantial to update, I would do so. All we really have are a couple of minor factoids about Aveline.

Haven't been following DA2 all that much anymore, but that news about the inventory, skills (as shown in the Isabela skill "tree") and lack of tactical view is disheartening. I remember speculating as much and being told that it would never happen by the bioware defense force. So much for those false promises and reassurances.

I suppose it's too much to hope for another good CRPG or WRPG that isn't struggling to gimp itself to the lowest common denominator. Maybe the Witcher 2 will satiate this urge. Hopefully for DA3 they'll just go all out and develop a handicap mode for **** like this.

I'm sure it will. This is my most anticipated RPG of 2011.

If your urge is to button mash and look at boobies then The Witcher 2 will certainly satisfy.

I will say this: I cannot understand why anyone who dislikes the direction of DA2 is fawining over the Witcher 2, which
seems to take every "poor" new feature of DA2 (like paraphrase, shorter length, fixed background) or go even more all out with it (timed combat, real-time, no party, quick-time events) and act as if it "returns to the RPG roots" or something.

Probably related to the phenomenon where someone will denounce ME2's plot for being episodic and disjointed while praising BG2 for being the epitome of RPG goodness.

Well even if it doesn't you can DL something like Xpadder and set it up yourself.  If you mean is it going to have the consoles UI as well as the PC versions, I'd say that's highly unlikely

There's plenty of people who feel the same way (I am not one of them) and there are other topics for such discussion. Here's not really the place.
