If this is the what they wanted, hell then this damn Hawke should have been in Origins and not let people have hopes and build up a  the warden to be a nothing, makes me hate them all for this kind of ****!

I don't feel like my Warden turned out to be "nothing."  It's just that not every DA story is going to be about her.  To be honest, I strongly suspected DA2 would involve a different protagonist, so I'm not emotionally let down by the fact that DA2 will be about Hawke.  I also don't think Dragon Age is "Hawke's story" anymore than it's the Warden's story--it's a world that's supposed to have room for many different stories.

I really, really don't understand the notion some people have that the experiences of their Warden are completely invalidated because they aren't going to be the star of DA2.

I see how this matters not when we've already been told and it's been confirmed that Flemeth is returning and no mention of Morrigan except by developes saying Morrigan is not Hawk's mother.  Really we're dickering over the "O"?

The word "sequel" came from Bioware themselves.  How can you have a sequel without your main pc being in it?  Unless they plan on having your old pc walking around in the background doing what you where doing while your new pc is being Hawk?    Actually, I could work that, be funny to see it.

The word "sequel" does not necessarily mean the work will use the original protagonist.  I'm looking at several definitions and that is not a part of any of them.

I guess it may have to do with how BG 1&2 worked and the fact that at first we were supposed to be able to use export our characters from BG2 to NWN.

The Grey Warden story is complete but many players have invested a lot of time and grown very fond of their characters and would like to keep playing them that's understandable.

Starting with a clean slate however is refreshing. I was surprised that Bioware didn't include Grey Wardens in the info they've released so far but in truth that may be better as the Darkspawns would become rather stale if they were used as enemies once again (not to mention that exploring other aspects of Thedas is highly interesting).

They manage it that way just fine over in Final Fantasy land.

taking the warden out is like taking the master chief out of halo,  and putting a new guy named bob and just going forward, oh but its about the area they all live in and not a certain guy, but Bioware just said that Hawke is to be the legend of this game, I hate them for this, all they did was bend us over the bench and have thier way with us.

And with Zelda, and with the Kirby games, and Fallout, and a lot of other game franchises that perpetually release sequels.  Can we now just drop this point of DA2's sequel status?  It's been flogged to death on about a frillion different threads.

*facepalm*  I know people got attached to their Wardens, but NO ONE EVER SAID DA WAS THE STORY OF THE WARDEN.  True, Halo is the story of Master Chief, and Zelda is the story of...well, Link and Zelda  The Dragon Age franchise is about THEDAS.  And unless you've got a hell of an ego of your own character's importance, Thedas is a lot bigger than one Warden, with a lot more stories to tell.

True.  And it's not surprising to me that the game designers want players to start off with a fresh character rather than use one who could be at or near level 35, with super equipment.  Also, does anyone remember how BG2 took away the equipment of imported characters?  If the Grey Warden was imported, they'd probably have to do something like that (or worse) for the sake of balance, and everyone would be complaining about *that*...

This.
Dragon Age is more about the setting.
Also, what's wrong with KotOR2? (besides the endgame )

By the way, people, Link (from Zelda) is a legacy character, not the same person in each game.

...Overreacting a little too much? Image IPB

It was never stated that the Warden is the center plot magnet of all possible plots and adventures in Thedas and that all DA games are going to be about him\\her...

Do you need a fainting couch?  It's only a game.

If they "fixed" the level, people would complain about that, too.  That was my point, but you're hyperventilating too much to understand it I guess.  Don't cry because some people don't agree with you.

OK BACK ON TOPIC INSTEAD OF USELESSLY REHASHING WHAT CONSTITUTES A SEQUEL :o

Gaider posted this in a different thread:

Nevarra is a separate place-- a nation that lies to the west of the Free Marches, between it and Orlais. The College of the Magi is in a city named Cumberland, in Nevarra.

Kirkwall is one of the Free Marches city-states that lies directly to the north of Ferelden, across the Waking Sea. It has an interesting background, which I'm sure we'll get into in more detail in the months to come.

Thread is here: http://social.biowar...ex/3085243&lf=8

For the millionth time, Hawke is not necessarily a man.  That means any character with a given gender (including the aforementioned child of Fiona and Maric) couldn't be Hawke.

Yeah, yeah, that's what everyone says.  Doesn't stop them from referring to Hawke as a "he" the vast majority of the time.
