sorry to disapoint...Bioware has already confirmed the sibling thing. If you make a warrior or rogue then Carver dies, if you make a mage Bethany dies. It's an unchangeing fact set in stone.

Got a link by chance?

I totally believe it, but I can't add it if I don't also include a link.

Also Gaider said Flemeth looked like a crippled old woman on purpose to try to get the Warden's sympathy or whatever her reasons were. The point is she looks different to different people on purpose for different reasons.

That's interesting about Flemeth. I wonder if Morrigan knows this or maybe Flemeth has her under a spell where she is completely oblivious to it. I know Morrigan is this strong willed and very hard to fool but Flemeth basically made her.

That is indeed something to ponder, it is also interesteing to think about how killing Flemeth in DAO might affect her in DA2. Because Hawke meets Flemeth before the Warden has the chance to kill her. So if you kill Flemeth you might change something about the rest of the game.

Technically it appears that Flemeth actually never dies, even if you "kill" her.  I want it so that if you did "kill" her in DA:O she will appear younger in DA2.  If you let her live she will be her old self in DA2.

Ah, but they just say you "get" Carver if you're a mage and Bethany if you're a warrior or rogue. They don't say what happens to the one you don't "get."

Like I said I totally believe they die. After seeing Carver die in the PAX demo I don't see them doing anything beyond putting Bethany in his place for those who play mages. But I got called out (and rightfully so) for putting the death of the other sibling in the list. They haven't (to my knowledge) actually explicitly said that there is no way to prevent the death of the other sibling. Theoretically, they could make a way to save them but not have them join you, without contradicting what they said there.

Still...I think that is simply argueing semantics at this point. Like the devs always say, people on these forums look for ANY straw to grasp desperatly to in order to make a case about something that typicaly never existed in the first place.

This Flemeth thing is messing up my head. It's like the old story about if you time travel to the past and kill a butterfly, it will affect the future. But in Origins, Flemeth was killed in what would be the first part of DA2's present, which is the same as Origin's present... so how can she remain both alive  and dead in the same time period? Oh I know, I'm trying to impose logic in a fantasy, which is impossible, but to carry this a little further, maybe the answer is that Flemeth found Morrigan and absorbed her.

Flemeth was never killed, her (current) physical form was. The DA2 prologue takes place while DAO is happening, Then it jumps forward a year, DAO is already complete, and flemmeth has had enough time to gain a body again and is free to run around and cause as much havoc as possible.

Except that in Origins, Morrigan said it would take Flemeth a long time to find a new host, maybe years, so  who was Flemeth's new host barely a year later?

Morrigan her self admited she wasn't an expert on the subject, by all accounts, she was guessing. Flemmeth could have rematerialised 5 minutes after the warden left the swamp for all we know.

I think it would be pretty realistic if Flemeth found Morrigan and used her, since she had been grooming her for years. However, I really don't hope it will happen, since Morrigan and my female pc were friends.

Flemeth reminds me of Gandalf from LOTR,he had this power that would allow different people or races to see him different, the Humans saw him as a 50 year old Hermit with shabby clothes, while the Elves saw him as a Ancient wise man etc

One of the developers have said that Hawke will meet Flemeth after the Warden meets her but before the Warden even gets or performs Morrigan's quest. Let's see if I can find the post!!! Fun.

Edit - Oh what do you know, the link is actually in this thread. Go to the first page of this thread and look for " Hawke meets Flemeth after the Warden met her in DAO[/i], but before the Warden had a chance to get and perform Morrigan's task to kill her"[/i]

Nothing earth-shattering, but there are a few minor bits and pieces that can be added. I'm waiting until the 1st of February, though, for two reasons:

1. That is the "mystery date" and something is going to happen.
2. That's when I start my DA2 media blackout. So an update on that day will be as up-to-date as possible, because after that, I'll be (hopefully) staying away from the forums until the game is released. I want at least one companion to be unknown when I play the game, among other things.

Heh, more power to you I wish I had that kind of self control. As for me, I'll likely be stuck glued to my moniter for the next month. :bandit:

This whole thing has really been bothering me ever since they announced it, especially when they said that Hawke's family is extremely important to the plot of DAII.  Why actually kill off a sibling if that's the case?  Furthermore, it seems like a waste of time and money to have to completely voice two different characters for the entire game when one of them supposedly dies.  I'm having trouble believing it, even though it has apparently been confirmed as such.  I suppose the dead sibling could still have an impact later on in the game in some way...  I guess we'll have to wait and see.  Quite frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if they do both survive and this was all just a trick.  The devs are sneaky like that. Image IPB

I'm guessing its either going to be the offical release of DA Legends, and / or they start ramping up their advertising.
