If there is a toolset, and there is a way to modify dialogue to play out differently, I will be there, developing that mod, the 1ST day I get the game.
If I have to start the entire game over to see a different companion -like, at all-, then I'd definitely want to speed through allot stuff the second time around.
This combination of SLOW + Replay-Focus does not sit well with me.
I strongly agree. If there is a toolset, and there is a way to remove both Varric and Cassandra to play out first person perspective, I will be there, developing that mod, the 1ST day I get the game.

This combination of third person narrator+flashback events 10 years ago does not bode well with me.

Anyway. I am human. I am born to look things through my own eyes, not through other people eyes such as Varric and Cassandra. I can't see my own face unless with mirror. And I don't have the ability to read other people mind nor do I have the ability to know everything around the world. I want to explore the new world inside the character, not outside the character. And I can't do that if the character already has it's own soul, well defined persona with other person voice. Furthermore,...... I have to guess what I am suppose to say next?
Simply controlling the character and making the choices aren't not enough for me. I can control super mario bros with my old SNES. I can make all the decisions as pilot simulator for my Gundam Mobile Robot. But it doesn't make me Super Mario Bros or Gundam Robot or even Commander Shepard himself ( Notice that I write, Commander Shepard "himself" and not "My" Commander Shepard as with "MY Warden" ) Instead, it was my "soulless and muted" Origins Warden. Why? Because "soulless, muted and empty" is perfect host for me to settle in, to shape the soul, emotion, voice tone and everything possible with my own imagination, my own perspective and narrative. Isn't that the sole purpose of any RPG? To assume the role of main character designed by writer/developer? To put it simple, if the glass is not empty then how are you going to fill it with lemon or tea or coffee or anything else?
I am very skeptic with the whole changes. I might depend heavily on reviews and future toolset before I can decide. But, I really really hope that DA2 will blow my mind. Please do not disappoint me. I really love RPG element of Dragon Age:Origins and I hope I can continue to follow and support in future.
