A small proof :

http://images1.wikia...0/ThedasMap.jpg

Have a look at the center :) The shape of the depression.

Are you talking about the area labed The Tirishan? That is the only place that looks like a depression.

i am talking about the silent plains :) its exactly in the center of the map. There is a Arlathan forrest elsewhere though and that I hope is imply after-thought nomenclature... :P

Okay. Hmm looks more like a Desert tan a bepression to me. Though that could still fit with your theory. Shadows of Undrentide maybe? Little throwback to their older games. XD

Since the map does not have clouds... the white things around the plains are mountains.... thus there IS a depression there :)

Hmm maybe, but mountains don't really equal a depression. It would be easier to see if the text wasn't there, but I do se your point. It does look a bit depressiony. I still say desert myelf though.

IDK, there just isn't enough detail for me to say 100% either way. Maybe if it was at a higher resolution with out that text I could say. As it stands I still think it could be a desert, HOWEVER it could also be a depression. There just isn't enough detail on it for me to conclude one way or another. So lets agree to disagree since I doubt either of us are going to change our minds. No need to fill up the boards with needless arguments, there are more than enough of those already.

The Warden's story is not part of DA2. That was a given of course, but this comment puts to rest any speculation about DA1 decisions having a major impact on DA2.

Um not really. The GI article already stated that you decisins will carry over. Who lived who died, who is ruler of Ferelden etc. So they could have a big impact on the game.

Ok. Since this is my DA theories day, I did some more research and think that I need to add something more to earlier post:

I am banking solely on the fact that the Golden/Black city is in fact the lost city of Arlathan.

The fade was most probably created or discovered by the elves! They created it or used it so when they slept they could wander its ever-changing landscapes and create anything they want (matrix!). The spirits it the fade are thus consequences of collective sub-conscious of dreamers: notice how they are all named after emotions. The spirit of Valor in the Mage origin says so about his weapons that he can simply create it by thought.

If the elves created fade it can explain a lot. The fade is sub-space lying normal to our universe with the city of Arlathan at its center. Thus the city, which was the cemetery for the elves as well, was the only place which existed in both planes simultaneously.... It acted as an access point I would say. Now lets talk of some geometry:

Since the Black city is the center of fade, it would mean that all the fade is a hollow Sphere, its surface being the residence of the demon/spirit islands. It would be so important geometrically only if the fade was constructed by people who lived in it (self-importance). This kind of goes against my earlier theory but I think it can still be accommodated there. One can argue that the Imperium wanted to first conquer the Physical Arlathan, sending it to the bottom of the earth and THEN the Fade Arlathan to master it. But the elven elders hid the secret to its entry.

Then the same argument can continue....

Dragon Age was not, and was never meant to be, a trilogy, but rather a franchise with many games based in the world.

That REALLY needs to be stickied. By a dev. Because a lot of people just don't get it.

You are absolutely correct.  They should have told people from the beginning instead of stating that it was a trilogy (and nothing else).  This would have saved me from buying a collectors edition.

When did they ever state that it was a trilogy?

When did they EVER call it a trilogy?

They called it a franchise, sure. But never a trilogy. That would be the Mass Effect series.

Why the hell else would anyone want to play 3 games in the same world with 3 different protagonists?

Well, it's nice to have confirmation that importing choices works in some fashion.

Why not? If they're all good games, then who cares?

And what makes the number 3 so important? They never said they planned 3 games. For that matter, did they ever even officially confirm even DA2 before making this forum? Sure, everyone took it for granted, but I'm pretty sure they never made any promises about how many games they planned on making.

If they're all good games, and they progress that world, I'm further in.

Have you read the story? I got the books and read every codex I could find, there is so much out there they could expand on in Fereldan alone. Plus there are other Old Gods out there.

Was it upsetting that the novels were from different points of view than your Grey Warden's?

I must say, I'm getting some mixed signals from you. Are you in favor of different protagonists or not?

Dragon Age is the story of Thedas and the people in it during the Dragon Age.

Thats it. The Warden is not the main character for the whole series.

For all we know, if they make a DA3, we won't play as The Warden or Hawke.

We could be playing Arthos Kthlaan, a Dalish Elf from a thought to be long dead tribe of elves that will fall from being Leader of all Dalish Elves(becoming such is the first quarter or half of the game) to nothing more than dirt by the end of the game(the latter half).

And it'd fit. Why? Because nowhere did Bioware say Dragon Age was The Warden's Story from the first game to all future installments.

Can you imagine if Baldurs Gate just took you through a different characters eyes in Throne of Bhaal? It would be absolutely retarded. It's Halo 3 without Chief, Gears of War without Marcus. I'm not saying that going through another character in a different land is bad, but make it an expansion. So what's the point of Dragon Age Origins?
