Saying "you can't question us until the game is done" is a logical fallacy.

And where in my post did I say that?

Whats your point?

She/he doesn't have one. Just blindly defending the game despite very real and well-spoken concerns. People are going to defend this game to the death, no matter what happens to it.

And people like you are going to blindly attack it based on the tiniest facts mixed with enormous amounts of speculation and assumption, no matter how people try to reason with them.

I mean, you just declared the DA franchise dead in another thread after only 4 days and a few SCRAPS of information. And yet you have the GALL to get on other people's cases about being blind?

Then go play another game. Clearly there's nothing that can be said that will shake your iron will from not enjoying this game. So why are you sticking around?

Because there's a hope and a prayer that it won't happen. A tiny little minute hope. Or that this debacle of an experiment will die with this game and not plague the rest of the series ad nauseum.

THe only thing they can do at this point is mention somehtign that MAY make up for the loss of some of the things people liked.Since they have not I can understand why people would complain and write the game off.

People Complaining about OH EVERYONE IS SAYING THE GAME IS RUINED.

THat was only really during the first day.Since then there have been many trolls and many threads of people complaining about how they took out some of the things they very much liked.Learn to Ignore the trolls and you have many unhappy people with the current news. The overreaction to the overreactions is getting tiresome.

That's because it probably is. As long as it continues to slide more towards Mass Effec,t the series is just dead.

They need an emoticon here that rolls its eyes. No...never mind...no emoticon could ever roll its eyes hard enough.

Wow, look I never meant to start an argument on here. Just wanted to point out that many are jumping to conclusions about a game there is very little info about, based on experiences with a previous unrelated game.

Sorry this started, I'll take my leave now.

You can roll your eyes as hard as you like, everything that was unique about Dragon Age is already stripped out of the game.

These elements are being replaced with story-telling style and mechanics that mimic Mass Effect.

What, exactly, would you call it?

I simply argue not as many people as you think are jumping to wild conclusions anymore.

They have a dialogue wheel. Which shows you the intent of the paraphrase. And isn't arranged in a manner which puts the same responses in the same places every time. The only current similarity with Mass Effect that has been confirmed is that dialogue trees are now curved rather than linear, no longer say precisely what will be said, but add in the clarification of intent. This is the *only* confirmed similarity. Work from there. How is the game now mimicing Mass Effect and therefore dead?

You'll not I said "story-telling styel" as well, yes? I think that's glaringly obvious with "Hawke".
The dialogue system is a further step in the wrong direction, and yes that pretty blatantly mimics Mass Effect. Especially since it is, just like ME, going to be a bunch of paraphrased statements. It's basically exactly like ME and we both know it.

I would call it 8 months from release.

Um, no, that's based on what the developers have said.
1. There are no origins. Right? So there goes the most significant element of what made DA:O unique.
2. You are forced to play as a preset protagonist ala Mass Effect.
3. The dialogue system, obviously

This series was said to be the Spiritual Successor to Baldur's Gate.

DA2 is shaping up to be exactly nothing like Baldur's Gate in tone and style.

Oh, the storytelling style is the same?  So, in Mass Effect, the story is framed by the narrative of a person in some indeterminate future describing the exploits of Commander Shepard and how he came to be the Savior of the Galaxy?  In case you can't tell, this is a convoluted way to tell you that you're wrong.  Any other indications we have concerning the cinematic presentation is hearsay.  We have seen nothing of it, and heard nothing of it except for PR buzzwords that, as usual, can mean anything.

And no, we don't both know that the dialogue wheel is identical to Mass Effect's.  Because it isn't.  If you bothered to read developer's posts, you would be aware of this.

What you just said? I would call it something that would get censored by the forum software. But it rhymes with shmorse shmit.

"EVERYTHING" that was unique about DA is already stripped out of the game? How can you POSSIBLY know this?

Guess what, having a list of dialogue options instead of a circle was NOT unique to DAO, and it did NOT have anything whatsoever to do with storytelling. Having a silent protagonist was NOT unique to DAO, and it did NOT have anything whatsoever to do with storytelling. Having an origin story was NOT unique to DAO, and the role it had in storytelling IS STILL GOING TO BE FULFILLED.

These absurd claims that "there are no origins" are NOT based on fact. It might not be CALLED Origins and we might not be able to choose races, but he's still going to have an origin! They're not stupid. For God's sake, they know how to make RPGs; they've been doing it for some time now, you know.

/goes to his happy place

Incorrect assessment. DAO was said to be the spiritual successor, and it was. Nowhere did they say the series in its entirety was.

That was an assumption you made that turned out to be incorrect. Now you're slamming the game because it didn't turn out the way you expected. Instead, a good idea would be to cool off, accept you were wrong with your preconceptions, and as everyone been trying to tell you(including Mr. Gaider), wait for more concrete information and become knowledgeable about the second installment before dismissing it.

Otherwise, you will NEVER like a game because it will NEVER turn out the way you expected it to, and that's on YOU, not the game, its developers, or its publishers.

DA:O wasn't much like Baldur's Gate in tone and style, either.

Wow, this thread used to be useful. Wish you guys could take the arguing elsewhere. We barely know anything of the game so far and there's not much of a foundation to formulate any "the game is doomed!" or "the game will be the best game ever!" opinions on. I do hope the OP is still keeping the original post updated even if the rest of their thread has turned into fanboi versus non-fanboi shenanigans. Funny how a thread about FACTS has turned into nothing but a trainwreck of OPINIONS on what the game MIGHT be like.

I am. Or rather, I will be, when we get more facts to add. It's been a long weekend.

This statement in itself is an opinion.  Most of what's been offered to refute the "non-fanbois" has been developer posts and appeals to reason based on the lack of information.

Welcome to the Bioware Forums.

Yeah, reminds me why I went on sabbatical when the first bit of Awakening news hit these forums a few months back. David Gaider and the crew must have a much thicker skin than I to put up with this.
