There are also two new screenshots. http://www.gamestar....agon_age_2.html

I hope somebody is going to translate it better, Google says about Cassandra: "The Inquisitor has a burning interest in the hero did Hawkes."

ETA: Great find, thank you.

Well it basically says that "Cassandra is *very* interested in Hawkes heroic deeds"

Very nice. So the narrator of the story will change during the course of the game.

Bump. Added the stuff from the German article.

I wish they'd come right out and said "companion" if it applies to Varric and Flemeth. They "accompanied" and "are with" Hawke, respectively, but that doesn't necessarily mean "companion."

I don't want all the answers out yet.

Lets wait a while before we learn who are our companions, besides Bethany of course.

Re-read the GI article today, found a bit on combat that I hadn't noticed the first time. Apologies if this has been posted before.

"Similar to the spell combinations from Origins, all of the classes can combine abilities for specific advantages... Now, a warrior may sunder an opponents armor, and when a rogue come up to perform a backstab, the combination of the two abilities will create an additional effect that is more than the sum of the two individual attacks."

Also, Crushing Prison is back.

If you make Hawke a mage I wonder if Bethany becomes a Warrior or Rogue then, or if she is always a mage.

They are going to transform DAO into Mass effect in a med_fan setting.

When they transformed ME1 into ME2, they improved greatly the combat system, but they completly forgot what made ME1 so good wich resulted in ME2 beeing an inferior game with a better combat system.

I hope they won't make the same mistake with DA2. But in DAO they forgot tiny thing that made the BG serie so good that aren't there in DAO. The world they displayed in BG1 and BG2 was a breathing world. In DAO it is not. The lack of detail are the reason for it. No night/day cycle, no real side quest, all the dialog are turned around the main plot or the player, and so on. There is no extra that could make the world a real living world.

Also I think they misunderstood why DAO wasn't the full success they hoped.

First the Strory is 100% generic. You can guess what happen 1h before. The main story is really boring. The main quest are well done, but most of them are minimal, no extra next to them to make them part of the world.

There was no life outside of the path or the player.

2 dd problem the gameplay was boring. Many poeple called that game Dragon Mage of boring. They missed the balance of the combat system wich resulted with : "why bother with something else than a mage ?" syndrom.

I don't think they should transform DA into ME into med-fan. They should improve and correct their first vision that has a lot of potential.

I see in the OP that you didn't mention a fairly important item from the Game Informer article. They said that Morrigan's story was definitely not finished, which means that you'll likely encounter her and/or her God-Child.

I trust the OP omitted that just because there are posts of Gaider here in that forum that say there isn't any chance to see/know anything of Morrigan and her child in DA2.. and there isn't anything really planned for future games too...

What's interesting to me in that Gamestar.de article is that the "overhead bird's-eye view" is still present in Dragon Age 2, as is the "pause-mode". Something to tell my dad; he doesn't like 3rd-person as much; he prefers a strat view.

Plus it will shut up all the wailing dirge-singers who predicted DOOM AND GLOOM WITH THE NEW COMBAT SYSTEM!!! NO MORE SHALL YOU PAUSE OR LOOK DOWN UPON THE BATTLEFIELD, CONSOLE FPS ALL THE WAY!!! Well, yeah, that ain't happening, people. And there were crickets from the peanut gallery until the next wave of doom and gloom... ;)

i havent been kepping up with bioware news, only yesterday found out the facts about DA2 and all ive gotta say is that form the few facts that i know it looks like biowares streak of making great games only to completely ruin the series with the sequel continues.

first KOTOR

then Mass effect

and now it looks like Dragon age 2

KotOR 2 was Obsidian, not Bioware.

Have hope, my dear fellow.

I don't know if it will finally shut up all these predictions...even if I'd like it

Sadly many people aren't used to read and hear what other said, therefore they'll continue with their assumptions like "OMG.. they are changing DA2 in a FPS/mainstreamed/ME2 like game".. I'll trust we'll have to deal with this for a long long time....

I have to disagree with you. Thou I am my concerns about DA2, I am not
about to say it will be bad as I haven't tryed it.

I like the old
Combat System, so sad to see that go a little, but I don't mind that DA2
isn't about the Grey wardens and a new blight. There is supouse to be a

good while betwin them.

But Bioware never made the sequel to
Kotor and personally I like ME2.

(sorry for my english)

Game Informer, issue 208 page 50. Caption under concept art of odd-looking mage-woman:

Will we see any character from Origins in Dragon Age 2? "We are certainly not done with Morrigan's story," hints lead designer Mike Laidlaw. "I can say that."

I can hardly believe that an exclusive interview with Mike Laidlaw given not more than a few days ago wouldn't have the most updated and relevant information. I also hardly believe that the lead designer would just put an outright fallacy into an article.

Yes.. he did it: Post from David Gaider yesterday

David Gaider wrote...
1) Repeatedly making threads on the subject will not make Morrigan come back to your Warden sooner.
2) You will need to wait and see what (and if anything) happens with Morrigan in the future. Insofar as DA2 is concerned, the Warden's story is done. I'm sorry if that upsets you, but that's simply the way it is.

"Morrigan's story" doesn't necessarily mean seeing Morrigan; after all, Flemeth is also part of Morrigan's story.

Flemeth is "with the party." (Unsure if that means companion...after all, Bohdan Feddic was "with" the DAO party.)

Not the correct translation. It would be better translated with 'Flemeth will also appear again in the game' ... not to say she won't be a companion, but that's not what the german article says.

In my opinion he couldn't be more clear..
But it's also true that everybody can see different things behind a single sentence...
Let's delay this debat after we'll have played DA2, and then we'll see who is right... Personally, after those words I don't expect to see her again for a long long time, Maybe I am wrong who knows?
