Anyone going to San Diego Comic-Con? If you have not read the thread yet, they are revealing never before seen stuff (read: gameplay).

I'll be there on Friday and Saturday.

I just hope its not gone be limted... and im very dispointed that the old characs may not be involved in this one or the god child :( .. since I really loved morrigan and alistair a lot

Maybe DA3 will finally get around to telling the story of the godchild...except for the minor detail that if the Ultimate Sacrifice ending is followed there *is* no godchild...so either BW declares something canon, or (more likely) never choose to tell that story.

There is no reason it can't be included as a sidestory.

Mayhaps we can meet up. Unless you are a serial killer.

Another
female mage lead. Boo.

We don't know that Bethany is a
lead.  For all we know she could be a red shirt.

LOL. Amie from Neverwinter Nights 2, anyone?

Mhairi.

Probably more of a Duncan.

Really? Duncan was never a companion, and for anyone with Genre Savvy was a very obvious Mauve Shirt--wise, weary, badass, old mentor figure; leader of the group that you're being inducted into. King Cailan was obviously also slated for death.

Mhairi on the other hand, was given a character trailer, was the only tank your party had, the only human female, and so on. She seemed like an important, lasting character, unlike Duncan. Bethany seems the same way.

I just meant in that she would last longer than Mhairi did. And if/when she dies, it will be dramatic and drawn out and emotionally impacting, like Duncan's death. (Not to dismiss any attachment one may have had to Mhairi; I had none.) And Duncan continued to affect the story after his passing. Alistair kept referring to him, and Duncan was sort of the model Grey Warden, so examining his actions brought to light the questionable ideals/practices of the order.

To me not nearly as much work was put into Mhairi as there was in designing Duncan. To me she looked like generic NPC # 315 even if she did get a trailer. And she was dismissed just as fast. Duncan didn't have a "character trailer", but he was in a bunch of trailers and on promotional posters and a pretty big part of the first chapter of the game.

Ah. Yes, now this I see. I agree, in-game Mhairi's death doesn't make much of an impact besides "OMG do you see what the Joining entails?!" when...we already knew, since almost all of us played the first game.

You know, they did an ok job with Varel's death in Awakening though. I was just starting to really like the guy and he protects the warden during one of the assassination attempts (which I found to be a nice touch), nevermind the scene with the darkspawn invading Vigil's Keep. If there were more deaths done like that, I think I would be ok with characters dieing more often. I have a soft spot for characters going out while saving someone or fighting for something they are extremely passionate over, that gets me all fired up :)

Here's what  I know so far.  After reading the game informer article, I think this is going to deviate too far from what origins is.  I want my character to continue forward.  I don't want to have a new character in a new place with all new people.  I liked the expansion, where I could continue my story.  I just think they are making too many changes to a winning formula.  Will I play it? Sure I will, but I still think there is too much story from the first one to just move on.  I enjoyed many of the companions too much to see them thrown aside.  We'll see.  It is early yet.

Because boycotting a video game is a ridiculous notion as is, but is made even more ridiculous when its completely unfounded and spits in the face of boycotters that actually fought for something.

But I'll get off the topic, lest we deviate from the purpose of the thread.

4 downloadable wallpapers at GI:

2 of them may hint a bit about ingame graphics at the current / a previous dev cycle stage.

I dunno. Call me a bad TVTroper, but even with the Annoying Overenthusiasm I didn't see Mhairi's death coming. It was more of a WTF moment for me 'cos she was my only tank and I recruited Justice last, so half the game I was like 'WTF Bioware, you killed my tank and didn't give me another one?' Unless you're a sword-and-board type yourself, Mhairi being KO'd means you have to make a run for Justice fairly soon. Duncan being KO'd just means you have to deal with angsty Alistair.

And fine, I saw the red target painted on Cailan's back the moment I met him, but DUNCAN... :crying:

I found what happened to Duncan as a WTF moment.  I saw him in every single trailer, every one acted like he was such a badass, and I expected that I would have some sort of connection to him in the game.  But then he goes off and gets killed within the first hour.  Super badass characters kick ass throughout the game and if they die, they die at the very end after kicking everyone's asses.  Badasses don't die in the beginning of the game.

That's why I feel no connection to Duncan, and I don't feel like he was such an awesome guy.

"More than half" of the Dragon Age left by the time Awakening begins

I don't get what this means.

Me too. I thought that there were only 4 Months difference between the end of DA: Origins and the beginning of its expansion, the Awakening ... I guess I just assumed that Origins started the Dragon Age ...  Origins even said that the dragons were thought to be extinct but they just started showing up. There was only 1 High Dragon in the game and the rest were its much smaller variants .. dragonlings anyway so I didn't think it was anywhere in that timeline but the beginning of the Dragon Age.

In fairness to that bearded jerk, he did have a slightly tough fight to overcome if the cutscene is to be believed.

I think the fact that he was so prominent and then shuffled off this mortal coil was actually good. It sort of kept the suspense up on Ostagar.

The concept art in question is included in the Game Informer article. As to the appeal of the seeker, I think the fact that she appears so cold is what appeals to people. Look at Morrigan; she wasn't exactly Little Miss Sunshine & Rainbows, but she has quite a fanbase.

But Morrigan also showed a lot more of her boobs than the Seeker.*

The Seeker seems like an interesting (perhaps even appealing) character to me, I just don't get why some people are saying, sometimes in a complaining tone, that she's going to be the "sexy woman" of the game, mainly because we know almost nothing about her.

*Morrigan lovers, don't get upset, I'm not saying that's the *only* thing to like about this character--you need to understand this comment within the "sexy woman" context we're talking about.
