I like the idea of the contextual
dialogue out in the world as in DA:A but it needs to be much more in
depth.  The reason for this claim(if I recall) is that a lot of people
didn't like to go around the camp and talk to everyone.  You didn't have
to.  It was a choice.  I want to keep that choice.

Instead of having to go back to camp each time, it thought it might be better for each major area to have a "safe spot" (something similar to a tavern or inn, a room for the night at a castle) where the PC and NPC's could interact together...

The interaction between the PC and the NPC's was one of my favourites elements in DA:O so having this area expanded upon such as, "having more contextual dialogue with the party outside of camp" - would be great (imo).

That makes sense...

I'll be so incredibly disappointed if they go with a party interaction system like in Awakenings, instead of what we got in Origins.

What made Origins great, and what I enjoyed about it much more than Mass Effect, was the fact you could actually talk to your companions anywhere. You didn't have to be sitting in one set place (ala the Normandy) to chat with them. You could chat with them wherever you were.

IMO, that makes more sense. I mean, they're companions, not just hired goons paid for their skills. In Mass Effect, it really ruined the immersion when the only time my companions became "real people" were on the Normandy. In DA:O, they were real no matter where I was. In Awakenings I hardly felt anything for my party members, and a lot of that had to do with the "Mass Effect" approach.

Now don't take this as me saying I won't buy the game or that I'll hate it. That's not it at all. I enjoyed both Mass Effects, and I had some decent fun with Awakenings. But I enjoyed DA:O much more, and that was due to the way you could interact with your party.

One of my gripes for DA2 is that you cannot play as any other race. I liked the aspect of playing as a city elf, or elf in general, that suffers discrimination. Or seeing how the dwarven castes work. Here we have a protagonist whose origin is already set. One origin versus 7 possible origins (I believe) in DAO. To me that is a let down. How would you like it if on ME you could only play as a soldier?.

Well to play only as a soldier in ME would be limiting the fighting classes not the origins. I don't think that's a fair comparison in my estimation..

We can tell from the latest Mike Laidlaw podcast that Bioware want to target a wider audience.

Mike Laidlaw, "There ARE people out there who I think, would love to play DAO, would love to dip into the world, would love to explore this rich lore, but  they may not know about the game."

And they aim to attract this audience by introducing the story from a more precise, generic starting point;

Mike Laidlaw,  "What we want to do is make sure that we're presenting the story".

Consider when trying to tell your friends about DA:O. They would ask what's the story about? And what usually
dampens their interest is where you reply, "Well, it depends which origin you choose..."

It (at first) sounds too vague to be worthy of interest...

Not to disregard your point but I think ultimately the odds will justify the means... More time and therefore effort and detail can be put towards telling one origin story. On the other hand this detail and effort was divided in DA:O when attempting to give gamers the option of six origin stories to tell..

Hey, everyone is entitled to their opinions, open forum mate.

I was using the fact of only playing as a soldier on ME2 to make a point. Would you not be frustrated by that? Each race in DAO has different attributes in the begining. I haven't seen, but I would assume Hawke could be played as a warrior and rogue, but how about as a mage? I said 7 origins because you could play an elf mage, but I know that is nit picking.

I do not know how having us play as only one race would appeal to a wider audience. It seems to narrow things down and some folks prefer to play as elves or dwarves.

This feels sorta Conan the Barbarian to me. A child rises up from war and hardship to be a fierce warrior and eventually rise to power. Sound familiar? Will Hawke be crushing his/her enemies and see them driven before him/her and hear the lamentations of the women?

Ok, I know I am getting whiny but again, a lot of us invested a lot into DAO and it's pretty obvious that we are all quite passionate about the game. The fact is so far I ain't right, I ain't wrong because it is early and this is all just speculation. I'm just a concerned citizen. I do look forward to the game, and will most likely buy it blindly regardless of what is said here. I can't wait to see what the reveal will be today for DA2 at Comicon.

I want at least one or two 'primary characters of Dragon Age (1)' in their senility (like 70 or 80 years) ... it is necessary for the plot and story and brings more excitement about the Game.

Do we know if they're doing that for DA2 also? Sorry if it's already been stated - I just don't feel like going through all 30 something pages.

Well, DA2 will have a dialogue wheel.  That doesn't interfere with me "feeling" for the characters, but for others that could be different.

Is that from ME? Lol, I haven't played that yet. I really enjoyed how they did the conversation system in Leliana's Song.

Can't find the link, but I believe they've (BioWare) have stated that the companion interactions will be more like Awakening's style than Origins' style.

Yeah.

I really enjoyed how they did the conversation system in Leliana's Song.

That was essentially how the wheel worked, only without the "wheel" itself.  You see paraphrased lines and pick what makes the most sense, then the character says the "long version" of that.  If you liked how it worked in Leliana's Song, odds are you'll be OK with the conversation system in DA2.Posted Image

Even in DA:O you were told by Morrigan that killing Flemeth would result only in a temporary death.

Wow, this game surely promises things to get hotter up!

I don't know why some people are being so pessimistic at DA2, never judge the book by its cover, you might actually get surprised.

I enjoyed both ME and DAO, they are two different games; two different experiences, so I think mixing them a bit might actually be a good thing, right? Two good things together can only end up in something better, or at least I hope.

I'm not angry at all for being able to play only as a human, to be honest, its a weight of my shoulders. In the first game, I couldn't decide which one to choose and when I was in the middle of the game or near the end, I ended up doing everything again, in a new race, just because I can't decide myself which one is better and which differences the races will make in the game...

The acted voice seems great, I liked to hear my Shepard, why not my DA character?

10 years in game... wow, I wonder if the game will be as lengthy as it promises. I know its not a game that will last 10 years to finish... I just hope its long and complex enough to give "volume" to those 10 years.

The combat system was... a downfall in the first game, if in this one that is improved, I will be eager to see the results :)

I trust in Bioware, so far, all they're games have been wonderful in my opinion, I'm sure they can keep it up and I wish the best of luck to them.

PS: Check that map out! That's huge! Are we going to actually walk all those areas?! If not on DA2, then maybe in DA3! That's a lot of ground to cover, I wonder if we will be able to explore it all... if we will, maybe the game will actually last 10 years to finish! :D

Why would they be that old? According to the GI article DA2 starts off during the Blight and has a 10 year time frame.

good. I heard that there won't be any familiar face in DA2 ... so It was untrue

I don't have the magazine in front of me, but I'm like 99.99% sure that mage will be a playable class. Actually, I'm positive that the same classes from DA:O exist. Not sure about specializations. I don't remember if they talked about that at all, but I better be able to play as an Arcane Mage again! :)

Now, if you think about it, knowing what we know about how mages are treated in Fereldan, playing Hawke as a mage could be pretty damn interesting. Think about it; he's probably not a Circle Mage. Maybe we'll get to play the life of an apostate? :)

In the GI article they said that Morrigan is definitely coming back. Whether or not she's a party member is still unknown.
