If this is true, I think it's an interesting idea; it ensures that your wardens from DAO won't be alive (they'd be around another 30 years, tops)... actually it pretty much ensures that no one from your party would still be around. However, maybe we can have party members that are descended from our Warden?
edit: It was on greywardens.com and I don't know how reputable that site is, apologies if this is already disputed:
"Dragon Age 2 will take the Grey Wardens 65 years after the events of Dragon Age: Origins. Nevertheless, BioWare promised that decisions made in Origins will be carried over and that the player will be excited and surprised about how their role will have impact on the new world. Even some, known to be dead, will make their appearance. Loved companions will return as well. The biggest surprise, however, will be the Darkspawn and the way you will think about those cursed creatures in Dragon Age 2."

Considering the game was officially announced yesterday, any info that is a month old is rumour at best. However, at this point there's no way to know if that's still true.mosaiclobster wrote...
I feel like a crazy person because no one else ever references or seems to remember this, but I could've SWORN that about a month ago I read that DA2 would be set 65 years after DA:O but that our decisions in the first game would have very noticeable effects in the sequel.

Still, I think it's a good idea to put at least 30 years distance between the two, since we clearly aren't going to be able to import saves. I'd rather a definitive "this is how your warden lived and died" through dialogue choices than a Revan cop-out. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...
I feel bad for those who like to play as elves or dwarves, but the human noble origin always felt more in line with the overarching story of DA. That's especially true with Awakening.

So... How is it a sequal?
No Warden?
No Morrigan ending?
No Morrigan's child?
No return of old favorite characters?
All new adventure?
Anyone else as dissapointed as I am? I mean They didnt exactly put an ending on the 1st one.
As much as I LOVED the 1st one I'm not exicted about the next
Ah come on guys....nothing of that is somehow confirmed...they didnt went into detail with the story and saiud nothing about the companions...how the hell can we assume that no one is coming back!

We have to keep in mind that one age lasts for approximately 100 years, so since DA:O began at around 30 Dragon Age (according to the DA Wiki) and DA:A six months after DA:O ended (same source), we're still in the early thirties of Dragon Age by the end of Awakening. Still more than 60 years before the end of Dragon Age, so DA2 can be set anywhere along that timeline.mosaiclobster wrote...

Yes, but the exact time is unknown at this point. So it could be set anywhere during those 60-odd years. Not necessarily 30 years after DA:A. It might not matter much when the game is set in terms of what it means for our choices in DA:O and DA:A if it's set sufficiently far away from Ferelden. However, Hawke being a Blight survivor, it seems rather obvious that at least s/he's been to Ferelden, if not was born there.mosaiclobster wrote...
Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but isn't that exactly when it would be set? Between the events of DAO ending and the dragon age ending? I mean, there hasn't been any word of this being a prequel.
I wish they gave us more actual information already. Not knowing almost anything is rather frustrating

I wonder if they'll release the PC requirements before release, do we need to upgrade anything?
Oh s*** I didn't think about that! My computer can't take much more, I don't think.
The only thing that I must know is if there will be a canon ending. We need to know soon, everyone's getting their panties in a twist. But since we aren't in Fereldan, apparently, I guess it doesn't matter.

Orzammar king
Dalish Elf vs Wolves
Landsmeet King or Queen or both
I think the dark ritual will have any affect in Dragon Age 2. I heard that the main character is not a decendant of the Warden or Morrigan.

Both of them have known a schism about the way magic should be used.
so if the game will take place in the free marches, where i think the black chantry is mostly representative, effectivly hawk could be an apostate or a maleficar.
But i think it's too early to talk about that as we don't know about the true location of dragon age 2, and consequently, no idea about the rules of magic tolerance and religion.

If you look at the concept art (see link on first post) the DA2 world looks like a post-blight, apocalyptic grey, washed-out setting for the new story. I wouldn't care for that throughout the entire game. Some parts, or a certain town/area, sure. But I think we'll be spared (hopefully) from my fears. Perhaps this is Ferelden destroyed, looking north towards the new DA2 area that is blight-free (well, up until now that is). And the art portrays male and female figures (Hawke?).
If you look closely at the char at the top of the site, and on the upcoming cover of Game Informer, you'll notice a non-human right hand. Has Hawke been contaminated by the Darkspawn through breeding, a sort of half-breed? Or is that some type of equipped glove with special properties? Or is simply artistic freedom to throw us off track? BTW -- the female in the concept art also has a weird shaped hand. Are these pics worth a thousand words?
These are simply some impressions I got while looking at the artwork. Could mean something, or nothing, I suppose.
Whatever -- I'm in. Bring DA2 on!
Thanx for this thread!

If you look at the claw from up close, you can see it's a part of the armour:

Purely conjecture I know, but please hear me out.....
If the official description explained that Hawke is a survivor of the Blight and is of the Free Marches Kirkwald, could it be implying that a SIXTH BLIGHT may have occurred? "One of the few survivors of your homeland" sprung out to me in particular, seeming that the Free Marches may have been particularly hard hit, (or at least Kirkwald) to become "a destitute refugee". I don't think it was the Fifth Blight due to it ending prematurely by the events done in the game. It may have expanded to Ferelden's Northern coast, but still, as far as Free Marches? Don't think so.
If the dark ritual took place (and the game is sitll in the Dragon Age era) than some time will elapse yes. Perhaps 20 or 30 years even, if the the "special child" had grown up by this time and Bioware wouldn't be Bioware if they didn't explain how that loose end was tied up.
Hopefully if its, continent expanding, than you'll be able to visit Tevinter, Anderfalls, Kal-Sharok etc.
Speculation I know, but tell me what you guy's think...
