Well if you go here: http://en.wikipedia....Steve_Valentine you can see the man who voices alistair and he had DA2 in his voice overs. If you go to Claudia Black(Morrigan) for example there isnt DA2. I dont think they would add it if they weren't sure...

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet (this thread is getting so long!) but wanted to put it out there that it is confirmed there is a "default" setting for players who didn't play DA:O but it isn't considered canon.

Nevertheless, if a person doesn't import a saved game into DA2, will there be predetermined choices made for that player? Similar to how Allistair is king in Awakenings if you make a new Warden?

There will be a default, yes. That's not the same as canon, however. Canon means it is the same for everyone.

What will I miss in DA2?

We know that whoever killed the Archdemon and was made monarch is being kept, and that's it. We don't know how much your choices from the first game will affect the second

Well, that's only half-true. There were two types of choices in DA:O, Big and Small. The Big ones are thus, and are always in the End Captions:

* Who rules the Dwarves and the changes to Dwarven Society
* Is there talk of a new Exalted March?
* WTF happened to Circle Tower, yo
* Let the Werewolves kill the Elves or free the Werewolves
* Who rules Ferelden
* Who survived the Blight
* What are your companions up to post-Blight
* Is Morrigan knocked up? (semi-confirmed as the only canonical choice)

Examples of the Small ones are thus, and are optional in the End Captions:
* Who did Caitlyn marry?
* The Green Sword
* The Bar
* Redcliffe

For the small choices you said optional, I'm assuming you mean that I don't have to do them, or do you mean they may or may not appear in the epilogue? I gave Caitlyn enough money for her and Bevin to get to their family in Denerim, and I never got the epilogue where she marries Teagan. I think that since Teagan marrying Bella is also possible, that when I gave both girls enough to get to Denerim there may have been a bug or these two choices may have canceled eachother out. I know this really isn't the right thread to discuss this, but it's just a quick question.

Well that's interesting. . . . way to use your resources. Bioware did say that all the voice actors have already been casted.

This may be a little off-topic, but...

I gave Kaitlyn the most money possible and got the epilogue where she marries Teagan.  The idea is that she not only got to Denerim, she used the money to start a business and become wealthy and influential.  She went to the Court, met Teagan, and the rest is history.

They also mention that there will be at least two types of each class (mage, warrior, rogue) in the game, in case you can’t stand any particular companion. So to say, you will have space for replacement.

Which could be indeed an hint to the hidden persons on the DA:2 front art.

The party itself is still limited to 4.

Finally, the composition of your party will affects conversation and interaction. So if you came to bargain with someone it will depend if you got a mixed party or an whole bunch of brutal warriors with you.

Where was all that stuff mentioned?

The important thing is that it gives hope that Steve Valentine/Alistair will indeed be a part of DA2 (always take anything entertainment industry on wiki with a grain of salt)  hopefully he'll voice one of the new companions if Alistair can't rejoin \\ ^^ /

Also Steve Blum better voice another companion Bioware >__> *shakes fist* have him use his Spike Spegal voice on some slick companion or your casting & voice directors  are epic failures of life

Hmm. Not that I don't trust you, but can anyone verify? Or find an online version that can be translated?

Well, when I said "how much your choices", I meant in a gameplay sense. In ME2, you did see the changes your big quests brought on, but only in sidequests and little cameos. Most of the choices didn't affect gameplay ultimately. I know they said it'll be imported to about the same degree as ME1 was to ME2, so that leads me to believe most things get a passing mention.

To be fair, now that we know it isn't just occuring in Ferelden, it doesn't need to affect gameplay. Things like hearing about the lycanthrope plague spreading, Orzammar shutting its gates, the birth of the second child of Arl Eamon (and death of Isolde :devil:) are all things that would only bear a passing mention. 'Cept maybe the Orzammar bit, but I don't know how much its involved.

And...as for the Morrigan thing...

I'd imagine that if they allowed who killed the Archdemon to be an importable option, it'd be absolutely impossible for the DR to be a canonical choice. Alistair/Loghain can't die if you accept the Dark Ritual--then you're clearly not importing who you had kill the Archdemon. Where exactly is this "semi-confirmed" canonical choice confirmed?

She's still Flemeth's daughter--and for all we know, Morrigan and the DR might be canon to a new game file, but avoidable by importing. All-in-all, I wouldn't spread that the rumor it's a semi-confirmed choice around by itself. ^_^

Well, the devs did say Morrigan's story is not done. It's also semi- in the word.

It seems like BioWare would have alot of difficulties bringing back any character, especially Morrigan because of all the outcomes you could have chosen in Origins. Though I'm looking forward to seeing her again, even if I'm not my Warden. I'm curious how much of an impact the decisions of Origins will have on DA2..

About the Wikipedia/Alistair/DA2 thing...Steve Valentine himself said via Twitter he hadn't heard that.

Soooo...yeah. Gonna take that out of his Wikipedia entry.

I have the magazin too. The exact quote is :" Ich sollte einen Vorteil erlangen wenn ich die richtigen Leute in der richtigen Situation dabei habe. ... So könnte man mit dem richtigen Personal an der Seite seinen Geschprächspartner verblüffen, bessser bedrohen oder vom geselschaftlichen Rang eines Party-Mietglieds in einer Stadt profitieren."
Translation: "There should be a benefit from having the right party members at the right time. So with the right party you could baffle your opponent, better intiminate them or benefit from the social rank of a party-member the city.
Gamestar will most likely publish the whole article online sometime next month, they usually do this with all their stories.

David Gaider said the only way Morrigan has the god-child is if you do the ritual. So no, it's not canon.

edit: Perhaps this could be added to the OP? It may not be directly relevant, since we don't even know if Morrigan will be in DA2 yet, but it might be of interest to some people.

the word canon in dragon age can't really apply to much of it's world since each thedas will be different according to the actions of the player.

Oh, I agree, but some people were suggesting that the god-baby would be canon anyway.

There is this post about BioWare's new target in sales. At the end of the article there is a question about romances and the answer could be interpreted as a confirmation of romances in DA2.
