Both very sad news, it seems sales and combat are what interests the developers now. And of course money at all costs.

Could the child in Lothering that was looking for his mother be Hawke?
No, because he is a boy, and Hawke can be male or female. We don't know how old Hawke is during the flight from Lothering, he/she could be an adult already. And Hawke would have been with Bethany at that point, presumably.

Well since Hawke is fighting darkspawn in the demo.....I would assume he/she is an adult when escaping Lothering. DA2 is supposed to have a different threat, which means that darkspawn are not the main focus this time. If DA2 starts sometime in the frame of DA:O it makes sense that he/she would be fighting darkspawn when leaving Lothering . . . and clearly he wasn't a child in the demo. At least he didn't look like one ......?

It's not him, don't worry about it.
They've also added some new elements to enhance the story. "Tapestries" are what they are calling their interstitial animations. These are the equivalent of newsreels from the 1940s, although done in a woven tapestry art style. They will update you on the story, and fill in information between missions.
There is also a very welcome addition to the conversation wheel. As you select your response to a character, you'll notice an icon in the middle of the wheel. This tells you, generally, what type of response you're giving. For instance, if you give them a hostile response, you'll see a red fist. Play it cool and easy, and you'll see a green leaf. Or my favorite, give the smartass response and see a yellow "comedy" mask.
Someone is bound to say Valve, but then someone is bound to remind them that Valve has the money to do that.

The way I see it, caring about your fanbase is just another (very valid) way to make more money. I see nothing wrong with it.

You know, you're not the first to imply I have an evil corporation mindset.
Nah, but I really do think its valid. They give us what we want, we buy the game, they make money, everyone's happy.

Oh, it is. Everything is about making the bottom dollar. I'm just saying that comparing BioWare, which is owned by EA, to Valve, which is owed by no one, is - to be blunt - stupid.

Thanks for that link. I think the part I found the most interesting (other than the part you quoted) was this:BlackyBlack wrote...

I'm curious about that part, but I believe I'll take my throughts to an appropriate thread. On special editions and DLC: "We will definitely be talking about a special edition at some point, and the DLC from Origins will be tied to this game as well. You will see characters from that DLC in this game."

VERY interesting. And stated so straightforwardly. On special editions and DLC: "We will definitely be talking about a special edition at some point, and the DLC from Origins will be tied to this game as well. You will see characters from that DLC in this game."
Who could that mean? Shale? The Drydens? Leliana?

Oh...I assumed they meant we'd get a DLC about the Warden who encounters characters who will appear in DAII...did I get it wrong?

I would think that Hawke may have been in the tavern when all this was going down. I don't recall meeting anyone male/female that could be him/her in the temple. Course I could be wrong.
I think Lothering is much bigger than what we saw. It could take place in a different part of Lothering. Or maybe the game starts just as they're escaping Lothering?

I wouldn't be surprised if they did, actually.
Yeah, but I'm not expecting too much. On one hand, I would love it if the game acknowledged what I chose as my boon--to free the Circle from the Chantry's authority. On the other hand...that only applies to the Circle in Ferelden, it wouldn't change anything in Kirkwall.
But it would change the politics of the country as a whole.

The way I read it, "this game" refers to DA2, and I took "DLC from Origins" to be the antecedent for "that DLC." I could just as easily be wrong, though.Saibh wrote...

Actually I was implying that the whole "caring about fanbase thing" wasn't necessarily the best way to make money.
Look at Activi$ion, rolling in dough from sheep buying MW2, no customer support, no moderation on the forums, no feedback, it's laughable.
