like in the post I quoted this is information from the German PC gaming magazine GameStar.

and no, it's not. hate it (like me) or love it, but it's not a separate talent.

edit: just to clarify: I'm speaking of the concentration bars, not spells' cool down phase. (I think someone playing the demo mentioned the latter still being there, but I could be wrong and honestly wouldn't be surprised if that got cut as well.)

Ok, so basically they got rid of the stamina for warriors and rogues and got rid of mana for mages. Essentially just leaving the cooldown after you use the ability, just like ME2?

I believe he is referring to the casting bars, not the stamina/mana pools. Like when you cast Chain Lightning, there is that casting bar which takes around 2-3 seconds to load.

No, he means that bars that charge up when you cast a powerful spell like blizzard or mass paralysis.

Does this mean I'll have to wait for my abilities to cooldown and use them one at a time also like ME2, because I rather enjoyed being able to use a shield pummel then follow through with assault, and waiting for a single cooldown for all talents like in ME2 would be quite the hindrance.

Ahhh..ok. Many thanks! I just can't stand this trickle of information- it does nothing but stir up misconceptions and rumors, when just showing some gameplay could clear up so much...

It doesn't mean that, no. You will still be able to use a skill and use another skill immediately, and it will be a lot more fluid this time around.

That's AWESOME. I've wanted an option like that for a looooong time. We sort of had it in DAO already (Sten/Morrigan/Leliana/Shale at Lake Calenhad, and "Sten, tear his arms off."), but if it's implemented with more detail in the sequel it could make the game so much more interesting, not to mention the companions would feel even more alive than in DAO.

The more I see, the less I like DA2. Definitely not pre-ordering, and will wait to see how buggy it is, and the general reviews. So far, I'm not impressed with the new style.

I was just thinking about this recently.  You know how many people often bring up the Baldur's Gate series in these debates?  I wonder how many of them remember that Baldur's Gate 2 was rather different in tone from the original.

Ahem *cough* then how many games besides pet society on facebook did you play?

Dark Sun, Dark Sun Wage of the Ravager, Betrayal at Krondor, Return to Antara, Baldurs Gate Series,KOTOR, Realms of Arkania, Albion...and many, many, many more. Why do you ask? Never plaid any game on FB, where  I don't even have an account.

Err, I haven't played all those games, but I know in the KOTOR and Fable series, you must play a human.

You played KOTOR even though neither of the two games let you be a non-human Jedi?

Everyone looks through games with rose-colored glasses when comparing them to the new kid on the block. I mean, look at ME1 after ME2 was coming out. Everyone was whining about the new inventory system or the new combat system; when in reality, ME1 had a VERY ****ty inventory system and a VERY ****ty combat system.

If you think the change from DAO to DA2 is huge, take a look at the TES Series.

its absolutely stupid as hell that the dark ritual isn't canon.

Justify this, please.

There are many creative opportunities if this were canon; say that Bioware's planning DA3, the god child could be a prophet after the Chantry's power collapses and form a new religion.

Emphasis mine--someone could just as easily say that about a plotline YOU chose not to follow and don't want in your own game.Posted Image

It's great that there's no canon and that whatever you picked for your game remains true for your game.  Complaining about this leaves the impression that you wish everyone was forced into the same choices you picked for your character.  I'm sure people saying they wanted to follow Morrigan would be POed if it turned out that it was the Zevran romance that was canon (for everyone).

And I'm saying all this as someone who actually did do the DR.

PS: Whats a "canon" supposed to mean in here? Like: "So Morrigan's godchild ins't canon?"
And I know this ins't the topic to debate about this, but as far as I belive, she might use that child to do the same as her mother did, "eat" it and gain its powers... If Morrigan did came from Flemmeth, there is a possibility that a part of her might be her own mother.

Canon--a set storyline that is true for everyone moving foward.

That's true.  I liked ME1, but trying to play it after playing ME2 was well-nigh impossible.  I thought the inventory system was a little too parsed down for ME2, but since I honestly haven't met an inventory system I've liked outside modding the hell out of my games, I suppose ME2's was the least painful.

In the games industry, the enemy of good is not better.  The enemy of good is stagnation.  Sitting on your laurels.  BioWare is not just the company that made the old RPGs we know and love.  They're actively trying to do new things, and while some of them might backfire, the fact that they're trying to improve and innovate puts them head and shoulders above a lot of other studios.

ME1 could have worked if they did a Final Fantasy-type system: 'Solaris Amp x3'.
The traditional inventory system just did not work for ME1.

I very much doubt we will see ME2's exact system in DA2, though.

Reread the GameStar article and saw another tidbit I forgot to mention earlier as I personally considered it a given, but since it's technically new AFAIK, I'll just point it out:

The player decides whether Hawke is a kind ruler or an unscrupulous despot. He's called Champion - the question is: "By whom?"

You know, the way they keep saying "honorary title" makes me think that, if you're evil, you force them to call you Champion. Maybe there's always a Champion or something, and you take the title.
