Yeah, I like the distinction. I wasn't sure about the use of the term "Champion" since it has generally positive connotations (although not necessarily; champion could just mean you win a gladiator match, for example, with no implications about your behavior).

But I like the question of who calls you champion. If there's a war, maybe the citizens of Kirkwall call you their champion for leading their army. Or maybe you betray Kirkwall to the other side and lead a devastating attack on it. Then the other side calls you the Champion of Kirkwall. It is in interesting thing to think about.

ME1 could have worked if they did a Final Fantasy-type system: 'Solaris Amp x3'.
The traditional inventory system just did not work for ME1.

I very much doubt we will see ME2's exact system in DA2, though.

Oh, I'd like a little more customization in DA2 than we had in ME2.  ME2's system was just bare bones.  Is it so difficult to implement an inventory system that has more customization and interesting stuff than ME2, but doesn't give me carpal tunnel  the way the ME1, DA:O, and BG2 systems did?

Problem is that however Hawke becomes Champion, it has to be generic enough to work in all three classes.  Can you really see the Praetorian Guard-esque templars running Kirkwall letting a mage Hawke get up to those kinds of shenanigans?

I would imagine it has something to do with Hawke stepping into the political instability of Kirkwall, and leveraging that for power.  Hell, Kirkwall has been occupied by Tevinter, Orlais, the qunari, and the templars.  It's strategic, powerful, and has trouble with holding onto a decent government.  What's more, the interview Saidh posted with the devs emphasized the political nature of the Free Marches.

You really want to Go There concerning rose-colored glasses in relation to new games?:

Oblivion.

TESIV:O's inventory and leveling systems were so close to being perfect. But, alas, like many things that are good ideas, it turned around at the last second and became something utterly disgusting.

Inventory was plagued with a bad stamina system that regulated how much you could carry (not to mention the shop system), and Leveling was so unbalanced that you had to plan out what skills you would use to a horrific degree.

Reread the GameStar article and saw another tidbit I forgot to mention earlier as I personally considered it a given, but since it's technically new AFAIK, I'll just point it out:

The player decides whether Hawke is a kind ruler or an unscrupulous despot. He's called Champion - the question is: "By whom?"

That's so cool, that's for sharing!

So if you can import your DAO save into DAA it means that you have to play DAO over again if you want to import it into DA2 right? That would suck.

Um, what do you mean? I assume you'll be able to pick any save(s) you have to import, just like you could in Awakenings. Your saves don't disappear once you import them into Awakenings.

Yeah, what are you talking about? Importing into DA:A does not trigger some sort of magical techno-virus that deletes all of your DA:O saved games.

Can a levelling system that unbalanced really have been close to being perfect?

I don't have any proof to confirm anything like that.BUT, as known as, BW tries to seperate the major classes: warrior, rogue and mage.since then i think they wouldn't add that class spec. to mage class. That's only my opinion, no offence.

First off, it's Arcane Warrior :)  Second, while I did love being able to tank better than Alistair on occasions, and I love my Warden's epic kickassery, I will be the first to admit that the arcane warrior was hellishly broken even after patch, and the combo of arcane warrior, blood mage, and battle mage was one of the most deathly broken things I've ever seen.

I just finished reading the Game Informer article and two things stood out to me. First, there will be fewer mage spells, but they will customizable. It sounds like the stats on say a fireball will be determined by the player and not set by the game itself.

Second, you will not have to wait until the end of the game to see the results of your decisions. Where Origins was a chronilogical game, DA2 is more episodic. It takes place over 10 years and you only play the pertinent parts of this time line. So, your decisions in one episode will be seen in the next. And, years could pass between episodes. So these decisions will be much more apparent.

I dont know if it was a good thing when bioware made a game and you didnt hear anything from them in a year or two, now they are turning out games like hotcakes.
