I guess so, since you will be a champion and depending on the type of way you go, people might either respect you or fear you.
As for cities changing their looks according to you, I don't think it will go that far, exept for Kirkwall I belive.

Oh. No. No no no no NO.
BioWare you are stupid and I haaaaate you.
So... we'll never find out what becomes of the god baby??
Its not really that bad, I belive that for our sakes, and others, it will be better than way, unless Bioware comes up with something really good.
As for what Morrigan said, we will never see that child again, and it would be smart of her, if she plans to do something with kid, like absorving its powers like Flemmeth would(this is just speculation of mine though).
There are things that we have to learn to let go, this might be one of those, it ain't because of having an old god's soul that it will be like a super villain or something, it would be predictable...
(Bit of spoilers)This game will focus on how you deal with people, infiltrate in politics, change the world based on your choices and gain influence/power.

so can someone message me with the detail of Morrigan's 'child'? Isn't this all debating on if you decide to get her the grimoire in the first DA? I believe I read something along the lines of mating Alistar and her, but as i said..can someone clear that up for me? lol
Morrigan is one of your companions in DA:O.
She is daugther of the powerfull Flemmeth, and later on, if you accept her offer, she will ask you(if you're male) or Alistair(if you're female) to conceive a child, as a way for you to escape from your death when you kill the ArchDemon. When a Warden kills the Archdemon, it soul travels into the Warden's body but since he is not an empty vessel, it kills both of them, because if it was an darkspawn killing it, all darkspawn are empty vessels and the dragon would still live inside another body.
That "child" will capture the soul of the ArchDemon and therefore will be like something of a god and you will live.

Not necessarily. They didn't make anything ELSE canon instead, after all. So in a way, everything's canon.TheButterflyEffect wrote...

Canon just means one certain thing happened for everyone, regardless of what happened in their games. There will be a default, certainly, for people who didn't play Origins or aren't importing a save. Obviously someone needs to be King or Queen of Ferelden, Orzammar will need to have a King, and the Archdemon needs to have died in one manner or another, so they will probably have those default choices made. But that's just filling a void, not changing anyone's decisions.
So it's a good thing, in a way. If there is no canon, that means everything that happened in your game really happened (including the Dark Ritual), and they will do their best to reflect that.

How about player choice? The dark ritual has probably been a popular first choice, if not a preferred one. However, if BW has no plans to further explore the original storyline, this is a rather inconvinient cliffhanger. Overall, it's like a TV producer cancelling a cherrished TV series in exhange of a more affordable spinoff.
Then again, we can expect the spinoff to be as entertaining.

That's...pretty much it. You will be able to import your saved games from Origins AND Awakening (at least, that's what their intent is).ahuevocabron wrote...

Varic is actually a dwarven king who knew Hawke when he was younger...
Also: "Unlike Origins, where unused party members presumably sat around the campfire, twiddling their thumbs until you returned with tales of adventure, Dragon Age 2's brood of followers will get on with their own lives. They have jobs beyond adventurer - which doesn't pay very well obviously. You'll meet them in their day to day lives." - UK PC Gamer magazine.
I don't know whether or not this is common knowledge but I thought I'd post it here anyway.
You know, that is actually somewhat old-school--I know in the Baldur's Gate games, you couldn't "collect" party-members and keep them around a campfire/starship/whatever like you can in newer games. Thanks for the information.

More specifically, if your PC is female, Morrigan asks you to ask Alistair* to sleep with her.
I continue to be amazed, by the way, by people who think the lack of a "canon" plotline--that everyone would be forced to follow--is a bad thing.

I just started looking into DA2, all I can say right now is that I am disappointed with the direction this franchise is taking in this next game. How do you release a sequel that reduces content(playable races). Honestly if they had started DA:O with 1 race I wouldn't have had as much anticipation as I did for DA2. Hah you can play as a human, wow this sounds like an easy way out instead of figuring out different stories for different races, and is also incredibly generic.
Dragon Age: Origins, the title says everything, its the origins of something, the introduction of an history, the "beginning". It gave us straight points on how each race live and their place in society, their history, language and habits.
That part is over and its time to move on, now we will infiltrate the world of politics and trivial tasks that doesn't envolve fighting darkspawn as a main goal or killing an huge dragon, its a new horizon that we should consider.
We can't change the past, but we can live the present and work out for the future.
Its some fresh air, at least for me, as I said before, it was a pain in the a** to decide wich one to play, only to be almost finnishing one race and of a sudden change to another...
Its also a good thing that they focus on a single race, that way the story around him/her will be more complex.

Obviously straight from BioWare is preferred, but I think quoting GameInformer or G4 or GameStar or wherever is relatively safe, especially if kept to direct quotes. But with GameStar, now not only is there another layer (again, not that you're untrustworthy), but also there's the translation issue.
Plus, no matter how authoritative the source, there is some information that is just stated in a way that's not very concrete. Like most of the stuff about responsive combat. I've had a difficult time figuring out exactly what, if anything, should be added. It's been mostly like "when I push a button, I want something amazing to happen." Well great, but...what does that mean?
I'd rather err on the side of caution and let a fact go unreported rather than report something that might not be a true fact.

I am an old Role Player from the book days through games like Might & Magic and Quest For Glory (which was one of the first romances in games that I am aware of). Then even all of the newer ones. I really love Bioware games!!. I love all role playing games and have been playing Dragon Ages and all of the DLC's and I am really looking forward to Dragon Age 2.
The art work so far (Darkspawn ) I don't like the style but I can kill them so that is good ha!!!
Keep up the good work everyone.

Overall, I share your opinion and I like the direction the series is taking, but to be fair, it is understandable how having only one origin (and race) would alienate people after they were able to choose from six origins and three races in the original game.

I understand that, but things change, they could be "alienated" for a few moments then live with it.
They don't have to buy the game if they don't want, I just think it would be wiser to wait for the final results.

True, but I've been "on the other side" of this situation before (with a certain tabletop campaign setting), so I have an inkling of how it feels to be alienated. Whether or not a change is extreme enough to permanently alienate someone is going to come down to personal taste.
