Not this Hawk dudes story. (yeah yeah, I hear a "But you play as a shephard in ME" I know, but I get to choose sex/age/appearance/race/first name in ME. ME1 was better then ME2 personally)

You could be non-human in Mass Effect?  That's news to me, don't recall seeing that option.

Shepard is a bionic zombie in ME2.

Maybe I missed the whole bit where consoles became the Great Satan, and console gamers were ZOMG THE ENEMY. I distinctly remember KOTOR being for console, and that was one of BioWare's greatest masterpieces.

And Jade Empire came out for the console before the PC.  I don't really get the console hate either...and I don't even own one at this time.

I should probably NOT own mine. I would no longer be in debt.

Sorry to hear about that.Posted Image

To be honest, I was actually thinking about buying a console.

Video games >> basic nescesities

As for console hate (which is in your quote but not by you and i adress sepretely) it only exists in the minority with PC, it's like sega vs nintendo, with console as nintendo and pc as sega, with pc lose'n more exclusives to mass market consoles the bitterness tends to get more rabid, it happens (ps3 vs 360 is a joke, their the same system with 95% the same games, it's a system war of console vs pc now)

It's like the segment of the first episode of "Louie":

"I could sell my Infinity for twenty thousand dollars, and buy a nice used Honda. I won't, but I could."

Everyone should watch "Louie". It is brutally honest and amazingly funny.

Now I feel sad that the information I put was not at least under speculation. Guess will have to wait for the website to catch up to the Gameinformer magazine. its cool.

Well I hope I don't come off as an ass but as far as I could tell you didn't bring anything new to the table. Some people like myself have had that issue of GI for a while now. I think I got mine like a week after DA2 was announced. So all the info from the mag as already been brought up and speculated on. It should all be in the first post, though probably worded differently. Thanks for posting the info though man, I'm glad to see people still trying to bring new info to the thread, I'd say to read through the first post thoroughly firstto make sure your info hasn't already been posted. ^__^

Nope, it hasn't.   Especially the difference between getting the game between PC and Console.  but appreciate the honesty.

They have it wrong--I'm too tired to find the links, but the devs have told us that the 2/1/11 date is something very interesting to DA fans, but not the same thing as DA2, which does release in March.

The date was found on a sheet of paper in the Awakening hard copies.

Honestly, poor marketing if you ask me. "Hey guys, let us put a completely random date in the packaging of all the expansion packs!".

re the 2/1/11 date: If that's not DA2 then I'm tempted to say a new DAO expansion / huge DLC?

re console hate: I think there's some cases where a game design (no specific example comes to mind right now) might have been changed to suit consoles better, where the consensus is that the PC version could have handled the original design better and been a superior game for it. If I was to develop an RPG, and I wanted it to be a traditional party-based RPG (in the same vein as DA) there's a chance that my bosses might tell me to do an action RPG because it works better on consoles, and that's where the most money is. I guess this could have happened with DAO, but it didn't.

There have certainly been cases where a port was done badly, well after the console version. The perception is that consoles are making PC games worse. I sometimes think that, but it's really a changing market and PC gaming has to adapt.

Edit:  For those who are interested, I have a PC and a PS3.  I play DA on the PC, but I also have some games I play on the PS3 which just work better on that platform.

Except that it's not completely random, and it gets us fans all a-twitter about it. Sounds pretty successful to me.;)

I assume this is the post you're referring to?

Tempest wrote...

I will add some information I found out about DA2 to your post I got from reading Gameinformer. (I'm Subscribed)

2. The game seems to be based before, during and maybe after Dragon Age: Origins.
3. The game play will actually be different between PC and consoles (classic DA for PC, actionrpg for console)
4. Morrigan may make an appearance (The original quote was under the line "Morrigan's story not done yet")
5.
Companions still as talkative and fleshed out as in DA:O. Difference
now is that even if they don't like you, they will still stay in your
party. You can be hostile to them even. Though if they don't like you
they would "...try to show you up."
6. There are now melee
combination moves as there were magic combination moves. This also means
that magic has finisher endings as well.

1. No number 1? :)
2. This point is reflected in the following entries:
Events from Dragon Age: Origins may be seen from a different viewpoint [GameInformer print article]
Hawke lived in Lothering during the events of DA:O, fled north to Kirkwall [
Five Facts]
3. I could have SWORN that was in there at some point. It may have gotten lost when I reorganized the list, or perhaps I held off due to phrasing or the fact that there's no link. I'll take a look at the scans and add something.
4. The Morrigan thing...eh, it's been discussed a bunch elsewhere. Suffice it to say I don't think it's enough of a DA2-related "fact" to include it there. "Morrigan's story is not done" is way too vague.
5. This one I know was in there, but I don't remember why I took it out. I'll add it again.
6. This one definitely slipped under my radar. I remember hearing it a bunch of different places, but never got around to adding it for some reason.

I think the main thing with the GameInformer stuff is the lack of a link, plus it's not always phrased in a way that's easy to quote or in a way that leaves no room for misinterpretation. I'll take another peek at the scans and see what can be added. Like someone else said before, I looked at that stuff and went "well we already knew all of that" but I never checked to make sure it all made it into the list. Thanks for the heads up.

*ponders yet another reorganization*

No, honestly it isn't made up. well, the magazine itself may have fabricated it but i doubt that.

What magazine is this?

The UK PC Gamer magazine. They refer to Varric as "a dwarven king".and they wouldn't do that if BioWare hadn't told them so. It doesn't specify where exactly he is king, Orzammar, Kal Sharok or otherwise but he is a king. It kinda makes sense seeing as he is sat in a throne in the concept art.

Wasn't there a dwarf guy you could interact with in Orz that was named Varric in DA:O ... like a side-quest or something?

Just wanted to thank OP for the thread, bloody brilliant to have all the more or less confirmed stuff in one place so we don't have to waste our time scouring the DA2 forums for hours to get any reliable information. Kudos, and keep it up :D

I will say that the information is as good as it can get  from the magazine.   I know it can change or that they may have printed something wrong.   So I take no offense since  the best you can get it is just from me saying "I read it in the Magazine."

SirOccam - your OP requests links to concept art. The blog post for episode 2 of the Bioware DA2 podcast, has a concept art image on it. It is high res when clicked on.

Here is the blog post:

Here's the direct link to the high res image of the DA2 races:
