As for console hate (which is in your quote but not by you and i adress sepretely) it only exists in the minority with PC, it's like sega vs nintendo, with console as nintendo and pc as sega, with pc lose'n more exclusives to mass market consoles the bitterness tends to get more rabid, it happens (ps3 vs 360 is a joke, their the same system with 95% the same games, it's a system war of console vs pc now)
I see. So it essentially boils down to the same wankage as 90% of internet discussions. And we all need to have Elmo and Big Bird teach us once again about how different isn't bad
And I'm well aware that my glibness does me no credit--I'm just relatively new to gaming, only been gaming substantially in the last five years or so, and some of the nerdrage truly baffles me. Can't we all just love each other?
I have no hate for the consoles I have both the 360 and PS3. Though I'm a realist and I realize that 99.9% of console titles are pretty streamlined down to fit functions on a controler with limited space. Compare the console GUI's of DA to the PC's GUI and it's fairly easy to see which one is superior when it comes to options and control. Thats not bashing, its just stating fact. Thats not to say the console versions aren't functional or by any means less fun, the pc sku just offers more is all.
I tend to think people confuse the idea that in order to have distinct personalities in a title of this nature, that there needs to be a limited scope, be it character looks (armor outfit etc) or narrow conversation options. Neither of which are actually the case.
Most of the old timers who've been around the block with Bioware for a number of years now, have come to expect a level of customization and actual layers of choice and polish when it comes to Bioware RPG's. Spoiled perhaps but at this point its expected.
Looking at their last couple releases (ME2 and Awakenings) along with the current info release for DA2, they appear to be moving in the exact opposite direction (vast changes to the conversation system for the worse in Awakening, vast changes to customization in player character in DA2, mass stripping of skills in ME2 just as examples among others) and quite frankly its disappointing to watch. That doesn't mean I'd call for a boycott or anything overly dramatic of the sort. I would however like to have my voice heard and displeasure noted about it, in hopes that it falls on ears with the ability to make sure that corners aren't cut to push product out the door before its ready and comprimises aren't made just to sate their new parent company who doesn't exactly have the best reputation when it comes to quality or listening to the fans.
