So....has anyone gotten a look at the UK PC Gamer magazine with DA2 on the cover yet?

Yes!! I posted some info from it days ago but until more people read it and support me in claiming that the source of my info is credible, the stuff I found won't be added to the first page. The weird thing is i seem to be the only person to have read it

To OP:

Out of curiosity.  If I was to beable to scan and save the images of Gameinformer and send it to you.   Would that count as credibility?

Most of the old timers who've been around the block with Bioware for a number of years now, have come to expect a level of customization and actual layers of choice and polish when it comes to Bioware RPG's. Spoiled perhaps but at this point its expected.

Looking at their last couple releases (ME2 and Awakenings) along with the current info release for DA2, they appear to be moving in the exact opposite direction (vast changes to  the conversation system for the worse in Awakening, vast changes to customization in player character in DA2, mass stripping of skills in ME2 just as examples among others) and quite frankly its disappointing to watch. That doesn't mean I'd call for a boycott or anything overly dramatic of the sort. I would however like to have my voice heard and displeasure noted about it, in hopes that it falls on ears with the ability to make sure that corners aren't cut to push product out the door before its ready and comprimises aren't made just to sate their new parent company who doesn't exactly have the best reputation when it comes to quality or listening to the fans.

The steady erosion of options, quality control, number and speed of patches, and that characteristic BioWare flavor is giving us a company better named EaWare.  This is NOT a positive development.  DA proved that BioWare still had it in them to make games for Gen Xers who were able to fondly rediscover and enjoy the childhood touchstone of D&D via a cRPG with Baldur's Gate I & II and the NWN1 series.

As adults, we've grown to expect better of you, BioWare, and we expect that you'll continue to release more sophisticated games suitable for adults who game on PCs.  If simplified dreck sans toolset on consoles is the wave of your future, please disolve the in-house studio and just call yourselves by the name of EA.  Don't sully the good name of BioWare and the fine products you've released in the past for PCs by pretending you're the same company you once were.  Please display your integrity by stepping up or hanging it up, but don't insult your long-standing customers by trying to have it both ways.

Might be of interest.

I love how people get their pants in a wad over bad translations. And by love, I mean I don't love.

If BW is really going in the wrong direction, then can you explain me their sucess all around the world?
What you consider bad, might not be for others, truth is, its impossible to satisfy every gamer out there, therefore they choose a more suitable path, if you like or not, its up to you.
Things change with time, its better to take a step in the "wrong direction" than use the same stuff from 10 years ago, we need to change to know wich path is better to take.
The toolset is a very imporant tool, you know why? Because it makes us players, more than we are, it makes us creatores and change the game world into almost anything you want.
With it, if you don't like something, YOU can change it, so please, do it.

Your issue seems to be that you grew a bit tired of games and now almost nothing suprises you.
Older games like D&D, Baldur's Gate and others were fun because we were kids and it was a new thing we wanted to try out, now since we're pretty much familiar with these stuff, we grow tired of it easier.
If that is your case, then spend some time playing these classics, because games are taking a new direction and you either go with the flow or sink.
If they have sucess with DA2 is yet to be seen but if they do I guess all your statement is wrong.

Edit: I belive that from now on, Dragon Age and possibly other new games released by BW will be target of a love/hate sentiment from all the players, more than it already is... wich is unfourtunate... we're making a battlefield of something that is supposed to be for our enjoyment, yet we go grab guns and shoot anyone within range just because they don't agree with us...Again, you don't have to buy it if you don't want it.

In any case, this topic is going way off the chart now, we better get back into track or someone will lock this thing up... Remember, its information that matters here, not nerd-rage nor nostalgia.

as it seems in an interview it was confirmed that the game won't have a toolset, and the top-down isometric tactical view will also be removed...  <_<

After reading this post, it sounds like DA2 will be an average follow-up of DA:O. I'd rather wait longer for a better game than have to be disappointed with a sub-par sequel to an incredible game. Especially after reading that the aerial tactical view is being removed, I worry that DA2 won't have the tactical depth of DA:O (and given what I'm reading about everything else that's been planned for DA2, this wouldn't surprise me).

Anyway I guess I'll wait until the game actually comes out to judge, but it sounds like a lot of corners are being cut and I would be very disappointed if the game turned out like DA:A (half finished and no tactical depth). I'm sure there are some people who know what I mean when I say this, because in DA:A it was hard to actually find a challenge with so many overpowered items and abilities.

I hope I'm wrong about all this and DA2 pleasantly surprises me, but I won't be holding my breath.

Bad translation ?
I find that very unlikely. Either Mr Laidlaw is holding a double speech, or the magazine deformed his words on purpose...

Why is wilful deception more likely than a simple mistake? It's not like mags have never made mistakes before (see: "the dialogue wheel will only have three options") or forum members have never misinterpreted an article.

I couldn't find any mention of this on the first page: do we know how importing will work?
