Heh, There has always been NERD RAGE for every sequel, ever. Of course, some persist, like the dear old loons at NMA, but most of the time people realize that the games actually are improved.

I'm happy with gender choice/customization....

stoked if it had ME2's graphics w/VO and the depth of the lore of DA1......

will be epic, I think....

[*]Hawke lived in Lothering during the events of DA:O, fled north to Kirkwall [Five Facts]

I am thinking the little kid on the bridge who's mother died.Anyone else?

That would be pretty epic for the male character, but it doesn't make sense for FemHawke.

Unfortunately, some of the things that I liked most in DA:O have already been taken out, specially the lack of race choices, and it seems that most of what I cared for is in peril. But still... I'll give the game the benefit of the doubt, of course.

I also hate the surname they chose though.... ''Hawke'' feels completely out of place in this game and I somewhat think that some sound editing would allow for different surname choices.

What explicitly do you dislike? Seriously, white noise posts like this should have something to back them up or they aren't worth posting.

I played DA:O and DA:A 4 times and on my 5th for DA:O just to get as much diversity for what I hoped to be an continuation of the next installment. Saddens me to think my story wont live on like it does in DA:A or ME1-2-3... :( BUT I am excited for the next masterpiece, I have faith in Bioware and so far they have never let me down and will always buy whatever they make

Well I'm not saying it's not possible, but...the "kid" was pretty clearly a boy, IMO. Again, though...I like the idea conceptually. Maybe they'll just hand-wave it.

If it turns out not to be the Lothering kid, it would be cool if they DID patch in a Hawke character for us to meet.

Pretty sure that the Lothering kid isn't Hawke, mainly cuz the GI article seemed to imply that you fought your way out of Lothering. I just don't see a kid doing that.

I doubt when they made Lothering they had an NPC picked out specifically for a future game.

DA2 will be released in March 2011 for PC, XBox 360, and PS3

This confuses me for one reason.

We've already been told more or less 'officially' that whatever the mysterious "dragon card" with the 2.1.2011 date in the box of Awakening refers to, is NOT Dragon Age 2. (This is why I theorize it could be an expansion.)

But now they're saying Dragon Age 2 is coming out on 3/2011? It seems surprising that it's NOT what''s being referred to by the card, yet is coming out only a month later than that timeframe.

EDIT: however, that is consistent with the EA "financial statement" that said DA2 was due for a Jan-Mar 2011 timeframe.

Hawke?? isn't that the talking super mutant from fallout 3?Image IPB anyway I'm borderline about this. dragonage is the game that made me want to play ME1 and i LOVED the the second one so if it copied the second one it might not be so bad....On the other hand dragon age origins was the BEST GAME I EVER PLAYED(and i had the console version) Im worried EA will kill what made the game great and just make a Middle ages ME2 8(.

'm kinda mad there isn't multiple races and backgrounds b/c i played through dragon age like 10 times just to see the origin stories and how certain charecters treated u so that kinda suxImage IPB

and I REALLY want to see what happened with morrigan and Sten ( mainly morrgan cause she got my God-baby Image IPB

Ugh. I think I'm already disappointed.  I'll wait and see, but it feels as if they are changing the game to suit the Mass Effect audence: ie all action and less story so they can rush it out the door to make a fast dollar.

Let's see...
1) Main character is always human.  Mass Effect.  Part of the depth of DA:O was the fact that there were other races and prejudice.

2) Main character is already some "heroic figure" before the game begins.  Feels like Mass Effect's Shepherd all over again.

3) Seems doubtful that any import from DA:O will lake place.  This undermines the whole in-depth story approach that was established.  Not that I am demanding about imports, but how will Hawke know the outcome of the Blight?  I'm betting that they will just disappoint me by making a canonical ending,

Just reading the press release, it sounds as if they are trying to justify "the less is better" approach, so they can recycle Mass Effect, and maybe add a bit of content for us to pay for in the form of add ons.

And like so many others have already commented "What kind of a name is Hawke for a woman?"  The name so feels sexist and mysogynistic to me.  Then, of course, every single Bioware RPG main character is officially male, so why should I be surprised?

There was a guy named Hawke in Awakening during the kidnapping quest. Obviously not DA2's Hawke but you never know....

It's a surname...those don't change based on gender. If a man and woman named Hawke have a baby girl, what last name should they choose for it if Hawke is so inappropriate?

2- From what the GI article said when you first start playing Hawke he/she ISN'T the Champion of Kirkwall yet, that seems to be what the story of the game is about.

3- They said that your decisions will carry over, so who is king, who died etc. Dunno if this is through save import though.

I'm just waiting for an NPC to say in DA2, "News of the hour, Grey Warden and hero of the last Blight trips over rock and falls on sword. Epic fail."

Well, actually since you reported it could carry across different systems, it strongly implies that it is not savegame-based. :P

You must be forgetting the epic 80s fantasy romance Ladyhawke.  ;)  Michelle Pfeiffer is a hawk by day, while her true love is a wolf by night, so they are cursed never to be together.  Clearly, Hawke isn't completely un-feminine.
hehe.
