It would be nice to have the kind of polish ME2 had. Actual choreographed dialogues, where people move around as they speak. The ability to contribute to the story without dialogue...and by that I mean being able to see someone's expression and read their emotion. Then epic cutscenes such as Shepard leaping for the Normandy, Tali sliding off the edge of the platform...all the good summer-blockbuster-y goodness. I want it to DESERVE such epic music as that ME2 trailer had.

Ew is that what Sheploo looks like when he smiles? Creepy. My FemShep actually looked prettier the few times she did smile.

Gets worse when you use custom Male Shepard.

Here's Ugly Shepard (I believe a creation of Audiorig, me thinks) smiling.

You could get some ugly-a** Shep's by just moving around a few of the Identity Code numbers.

I may have to load up the game just to see how awful a Shep I can make

Remove the code altogether and then simply make his skin palewhite.

Hahahaha...okay Ugly Shep is hilarious. I like that he's somewhat believably ugly too. I mean it's not out of the realm of possibility for a person to look like that. Unlikely but not impossible.

UglyShep makes the Elephant Man look like a male model....

But as for the trailer- if they use some of Two Steps From Hell's music like they did for the ME2 Launch trailer, that would win me over...at least temporarily.

I think its just about safe to write the game off as Dragon Effect at this point and call it a console game at its core. Way to go Bioware, way to alienate your older fanbase.

Right, because no one from said fanbase plays Mass Effect or consoles.

Oh wait...

PS: The "Dragon Effect" cracks are pretty old and stale at this point.

They'll only heat up after the trailer.

Out of curiosity OP. There are 2 things I do not see on the list under NPC/companions.

1. You can become hostile to your party members

2. Party members may not leave you. Just try to "...show you up, and that may influence battle in a different way."

1. Can't you always be hostile to your party members? The only difference this time is that they don't always leave you once you reach the crisis level. But, yeah, I don't see number two, either.

Yes, yes. It was not without its flaws. Sometimes it crossed into the Uncanny Valley.

For a better example of what I'm talking about, look at Samara vs. Morinth. Even the small touches you take for granted. Morinth moving to sit on Shepard's lap. Morinth and Samara talking while fighting. Cool, dynamic closeups like 1:44-1:58.

Another example: meeting Aria. Again, dyamic action going on during the dialogue, and one of my favorite camera angles when she says "Don't f*ck with Aria." And then an actual, honest-to-goodness smile.

Now compare that to the dialogue for the "Loghain's Push" quest. Not even so much as an establishing shot. Just a close-up of one blank-faced guy saying something, then a close-up of a different blank-faced guy saying something. I can almost hear Tom Servo, Crow, and Mike (or Joel if you prefer) going "DAH!!" the way they do when they see an unexpected extreme close-up in MST3k.

I mean...it doesn't even look like they're looking at each other.

They can leave you, just not due to negative approval.

Until we see some gameplay to show how DA2 will be different in presentation and style versus ME, you can expect "Dragon Effect" cracks a plenty. It surely doesn't help that many of the marketing buzzwords they've used thus far have been lifted directly from ME's marketing.

To be fair though, that DAO quest is just a minor Chanters board quest where you're comparing it to interactions with major NPCs in ME2. A more apt comparison in that case would be comparing that Chanters board quest to a uncharted world quest in ME2.

...Or maybe they're just stock marketing words. Which they are.

Regardless, we've seen plenty--and oh, how I mean plenty--about how this game differs from ME. Yes, there are some similarities.

I agree with Riona, the Dragon Effect thing is tuckered out. It's just blind doomsaying meant to stir up controversy. Think of something new.

Added something about hostility with party members. #2 is a little too vague, though, I think. We don't really know what "showing you up" entails, or what sort of effects it might have on combat. That it might have ANY effect is interesting, but without facts, we're really just passing along impressions, which are subjective.
