Now the thing for which I'm curious about is the fact of whether or not anyone knows if they are going to be giving any specaial DLC content when you Pre order like they did with DAO? You got the dragon armor, shield etc if you pre ordered the game? Have they offered anything like this with Dragon Age 2?

Why does everything have to be so cinematic? It is not a "must" to a good RPG. I'm going even further, it is not needed at all in a good RPG. If the story and the dialogues are well written, and we have interesting characters, I don't care about camare angels, face animations etc. This is not a film.

Of course a good RPG need not be cinematic. As has been mentioned before, it could simply be text-based.
But whether it's fair or not, "cinematic" games are popular right now. And you know, DA:O was a cinematic game. It had pleasing (if not stellar) graphics, face animations, and featured the use of dramatic and movie-like camera angles. Was that a problem for you?

I'm so happy Nathaniel is returning he was easily my favorite companion in Awakening. I'm hoping he's a companion even if it's temporary.

I think I saw an article in ign.com which says dragon age 2 wont be having the top down camera view instead just third person view is going to be there, is it true? For me personally, i like to have the top down menu, which makes it easy to manage the characters and all.

I expressed myself poorly, I'm sorry. I didn't mean that I don't like cinematic games at all. In fact, I'm a sucker for cinamtic games. I just fear that Bioware sacrifices too much (e.g. player generated character, more races) just to make the game as cinematic as Mass Effect.Riona45 wrote...

I also welcome the return of Nathaniel. About the new female modell, I think it would be more logical, to make it a little more muscular, since many of them will carry heavy armor. The girl on the concept art couldn't even lift a sword.shadowpiranha wrote...
Sad about the new female shape thing, I quite liked the amazon/swimmer look of my warden. It's not like there aren't broad shouldered women in the world.
On the other hand, I don't know when I started to care, but I'm happy that Nathaniel Howe may be appearing.

It doesn't "have" to be cinematic. But it would make the world that much more immersive and engaging. It could have 8-bit graphics and still be a good RPG if it's well-written. Hell, they could make it text-based like Zork. But surely better graphics helps, no? There's no reason not to always be trying to improve every aspect of the game.

Opportunity costs.
Improving one area often prevents another from improving (or even remaining the same). So far, the cinematic approach in BioWare's games has had a chilling effect on player agency.

But that defeats the idea of trying. Sure, you can take it off the table, but it has to be on it first.Sylvius the Mad wrote...
