Yeah i know it just sucks when game devolpers take **** from a past game.

The wheel in DA2 is not being implemented the same way it was in ME.  The goal is to, you know, improve on what didn't work before.

By the way, your statement, if taken literally, would mean game designers would have to start from scratch each time they make a game, and not use stuff from old games that people did like.

My link wasn't a Rick Roll, but that still would have been funny.Posted Image

Apologies if this next comment has been mentioned in this tome of a thread.

I understand that DLC from Origins impact DA2, i've got all DLC so far, but if you dont get the DLC will that affect DA2 or will there be automatic decisions for those DLC made for you??

I believe that something that was said in another thread applies: If you did the dark ritual, the dark ritual is canon for you, but not for someone else. Therefore, it is likeoy to assume that if you did not 'do' the content, Darkspawn Chronicles aside, you did not do them and therefore they will not be taken into account. I assume in the above case that such a thing will have a 'default' in the case of Awakening DLC, but otherwise, such things will not overtly affect anything beyond what you did in that DLC.

At least, that's my understanding of it, or I assume so. I could be wrong, but it seems likely that, aside from Awakening, there will more than likely not be automatic default choices, yo.

I know its not going to take the complete form and design of ME's CW but it will be somewhat similar with the interaction and style for sure, I just dont agree with modifying great games. And i agree with what your saying about fans liking a certain aspect of a game in this case the CW but that belongs where it was created the ME series, and souldnt be brought into a totally different game...

Doc Oc, may want to start a color code system, as it i getting hard to find the new stuff.

Hmm, now there's an idea. What did you have in mind? Like put the new stuff in a different color, or have sub-groups within each heading in a different color, or something else?

I had at least two ideas:
1) put the new stuff in color.
2) put separate categories in separate colors, but new stuff always in one specific color.

I just hope they remember what worked great in origins and don't mess with that but rather bring it in to DA2

Other than your aversion to it, is there any real reason why you are against it? It's not giving Hawke an assault rifle. It didn't really affect things in the demo at all.

I am currentl reading a czech magazine score(yes,i am from cze :D),wich has 6 pages of dragon age 2 info. If I'll find something new,I will edit this post.

please dont kill me bioware :D
------
50 % of the game is done
There will be books like in DAO that can boost you! :D
Hawke will have problems with certain fraction, not just templars and the chantry.
There will be pirates, traders and-or poachers! :D What I mean is that you will interact with them more. Not sure if I translated that correctly.

There are couple of more things, but i cant translate them properly right now. Its almost midnight.

Posting here should be fine. Just try to state it as straightforwardly as you can, and direct quotes from BioWare staff are preferred, when available. Stuff like "the graphics are getting hot-rodded" aren't all that useful. ;)

IDK, importing a Darkspawn Chronicles save into DA2 could have provided interesting results. Now everyone reacts to the Blight as if it destroyed Ferelden, and everyone's crapping their pants and scrambling their defenses.

Hard to see the way it will be implemented (the CW). From what I understand it seems more similar to Alpha Protocol than ME which, to me, is based more on emotional reaction than rational or thought provoking reactions. Though since DA2 is based on a character named Hawke, it would be odd (to me) to see a dialogue list like FA3 over a wheel like ME1&2. Plus the addition of character VO would make the DL cool but consume ALOT of money to make....and memory space.

We will have to see. I might have been angry, but than remember that Dragon Age: Origins was just based on Ferelden. From which that is a country or continent on the face of an entire world that is of yet to be explored. Heck each DA game could literally have no connection to previous ones since each continent/country would have their own **** to deal with at the same time our Warden existed.

My main concern is the DLC with having a voiced character that there might not be much of it. Otherwise I don't mind what I have seen so far and even gotten over not being a able to choose a race ( well...as over it as I will get).

Yes, it's being implemented in a way that makes it even harder to ignore.  Those emotion icons compound the problem - they don't fix it.

Late breaking news:

Burt Reynolds will play Hawke's father.

See the freaky resemblance?

P.S. I'm joking.

hmmmmm ... that a good point :?, I hadnt thought about that. Im asuming that is something BioWare has already taken under consideration , but I see your point. ^_^

Thats true- look at the relative amount of ME2 DLC compared to DAO. Then again, I'm sure they'll have a stand alone DLC eventually where you play as a silent PC to appease silent PC fans...

Bioware is on the right track with this one. Manual combat? Finishing moves? I'm just hoping its a long, intense story and a giant game world..

Thanks for the list of details, helps me catch up, especially since I cant find a local store that has the gameinformer issue.

So far I dont like the fact that you have to be human...I mean it cant be that difficult or expensive to have male and female voices for an elf and dwarf character, just use an accent or something if you dont want to hire more voicce actors. I feel like Bioware is taking the lazy way out there by forcing us to be human. I mean if we are building the legend of Hawke, why can't he/she be an elf or dwarf?

Second, I absolutely HATE the new screenshots of the hurlocks and ogres, the graphics look blocky, almost like N64ish. The hurlocks look stupid, like ninjas or mummies with skulls for faces. The original hurlocks were way cooler, much scarier and menacing. The new ones dont even have jagged teeth/fangs, which I thought was a major cool feature...The ogres look oversimplified, less muscular and intimidating well, the faces are much less detailed.     With that being said, I dont see anything wrong with how Hawke and jis sister look in the screenshots.
I certainly hope these darkspawn models are simply alpha renders and will look closer to those in Origins and Awakening in the final game. I may not buy the game simply based on this alone.  I mean if this takes place during an after Origins why are the primary foes you fight/ are used to fighting being changed so drastically?

One thing I do like is the new versions of the quanari, as well as the concept art that shows the male and female versions of each race together, although the female elfs face looks kinda like the Naa'vi from Avatar (nose is too flat, ears look weird)... not the best look IMO.

Euh, loving how many people are complaining that they won't see there warden, but if you think about it, w.e choice your warden picked, why the hell would they end up in the free-marches? They wouldn't, if you became king or Queen, your in Fereldan where they belong etc...etc. Even if there was Darkspawn in the free-marches, they have their own wardens to fix that problem, and their own warden commander.

And Those who are wishing that the Demon God baby will be in the game, this game starts at the same time as DA:O expanding across 10 years, Morrigan conceived a child just after before or after the 1st year was up, adding the 9 months Pregnancy, You have to realize what ever that child is, it's still human in some way or form. So unless you want a 8-9 year old kid following you around...doubt it's going to be a companion.

Although there are some aspects of DA2 that I'm not particularly pleased with, I have to say I am looking forward to playing another installment.

But the one thing I just can't get over that is bothering me a fair bit is that Hawke can /only/ be Human. I know it's pretty much set in stone now, but I personally liked that in DA:O you could indeed customise your race. I personally love playing as an Elf - love the body structure, ears, past history, etc. It was fascinating... so, that's just a let-down for me. They say there's new body structures (in the form of difference between hips and shoulders with females) and even some new designs (eg Qunari), yet we don't get to play as them.

Sorry to say, BioWare, as much as I'm looking forward to DA2, I'm resenting it slightly as well. Your mighty sword has stuck the blow that felled me. :(

Using the same actor for each race doesn't mean it wouldn't cost more.  If I understand it correctly, the voice actor gets paid based on how much acting they have to do.  I also wouldn't assume that voice acting is the only reason why Hawke can only be human.

I'd like to see Orlais and the Tevinter Imperium as a playable setting.  And what about the Warden Headquarters mentioned in Awakening?
