From the 1-Up thread:

David Gaider
"The first time you pick a personality option, that's your dominant personality. That personality can "switch" the first time you total of any other personality exceeds that one by 1 (so if you then picked two different personality options after the first, it would switch). Each time it switches, the threshold you need to exceed the total by increases by 1... to avoid a feeling of schizophrenia (though the personalities aren't so divergent they feel like different people). So it's not quite as simple as just tracking the highest total."

I think this needs to be logged NOW.

I have to admit I'm a little wary of this.  I am resistant to the idea of the game giving me a "dominant personality," because I don't intend to act the same way with everyone. Posted Image

He made a thread talkin about it. I think you should read it.

You still have the personality options on the dialogue wheel. It's just your tone.

Yeah, I don't even want to think about how many hours that took....

I understand that--I just worry about how it will work in practice.  I'll probably be "at peace" with this in a while, it's just that my gut reaction is...concerned.  That said, I'm pleased with pretty much everything else so far, and I do have good reason to trust in BioWare's talent.

I don't know if anyone else had this problem. But I had ALOT of difficulty trying to make all my characters happy. Heck during my repeated play-throughs the most I could ever make my characters happy were the ones in my group. Is there really a way to make most to all your party members happy?

I'm concerned about everything, in all honesty, it could suck. But it's so far away, that I'll get more concrete opinions around the new year.

I still want to know if there's a female Elf LI. Yes, I'm one of those... an elf-lover.

So far, looks...interesting.

Dunno what the art shift will bring, I'm on the fence. Looking at the concept art doesn't fill me with much hope, tough.

Looking at the races (females standing on fingertips..lol)...does the elven female remind anyone of the cat-smurfs from avatar?

I have to this day not found a main bioware game entertaining. Awakening was...disappointing in some area's yet good in others. I am getting DA2 just because i love bioware's work. The fact the main character is voiced does give it a mass effect feel, but really is it that bad? Mass Effect is a great game and if you take some good features from one game and add it to another to give it a boost, it can work.

Don't judge the game until the reviews come out is all i am saying.

So now even a real game mag titles a new online preview about the DA2 demo at the gamescom "The Mass Effect" and even the PC version is only playable via gamepad at the moment, because everything is only action based, with no real tactic at all.

I'm not sure I'll like this direction. Yes, I have a X-Box. Yes, I played ME2 on it. But the tactical fights set DA apart from most other (western) RPGs of our time (like Oblivion, Risen etc. in which you only play with one character).

Don't we know more now, based on certain magazine articles, like Hawke's little brother, Aveline, etc? Just wondering why the OP hasn't been updated.

Yeah.  Now that I've had time to think about it, I'm not too upset.  But that's partly because BW has a good track record and I'm trusting that they'll pull this "personality thing" off--or, if they don't, it won't be so bad that it will greatly hinder my enjoyment of the game.

I am just a little confused as to why a company such as BW, who has been doing this for YEARS, is parading around an unfinished, buggy demo that does not represent the majority of gameplay. You can't fault EA, becuse they should know better, as well.

More than 90% of the complaining is due to the demo.

But Bryy, Bioware wanted to show off the "framed narrative" and the "refined combat"!

...Granted, the "framed narrative" was a concept that most had trouble wrapping their minds around and ended up causing more confusion than anything... and the "refined combat" came across as being an example that DA2 gameplay would be hack and slash (even if the "cutting through darkspawn like butter" thing was just Varric's creative license).  Posted Image

You're right: the demo might not have been the best representation for the game.

One thing the demo's probably taught them is to not talk so much about the framed narrative. Even if it works in-game, it doesn't seem to be working as a marketing bullet point.

I they ultimately needed to in order to circumvent a bigger pile of complaining. But I stand by my idea that the demo should have included BOTH scenarios.

I read on Gameinformer that they are thinking of letting people transfer there saves over even if they decide to play part 2 in a different platform. Any word on this ?

The dialogue wheel is console only. Awesome, should make alot of PC gamers happy and perhaps the console people happy as well, who knows.
