Was wondering what scripts and 2DA files handle the custom inventory screens for Shale & Dog (since it is part of the GUI it might involve quite a bit more than this).  I want to create a custom inventory screen for a cat character, although if worst comes to worst just knowing how to copy Dog's inventory screen to another character / class would be useful.

The inventory screens for Dog and Shale are specified in EquipmentLayout gda. You can easily extend this to allow custom creatures to use the same slots. The game takes care of everything else.

I imagine that changing the GUI to make entirely new slots would be very difficult (if not impossible).

Wow I'm amazed that I never saw that GDA after looking through the full list several times, thanks!

Actually since I'm not planning on adding a dog character to this addon, just replacing the icons used for the dog inventory background would work. Now to find out what their names are and where they're located.

well, I found them in a file called alt_shared_dxt5_01.dds in guiexport.erf, but there has to be a better way than overwriting a 4mb file =0

I don't know of a better way. 4Mb isn't that big by today's standards.

Look at RACE_Base.xls. Change the dog/animal race icon to whatever you want.

Fergus - no problems in doing that, I can set up a separate race with their own icon, it's finding the background icons (if they have separate names) for the dog inventory (the icons of the dog head and dog collar when nothing is equipped in dog's inventory) that's the real problem.

I found out that modifying the shared icon file I mentioned above and putting it in an override folder doesn't work, nor can I find these specific icons by searching through the icons when customizing an item.
