Something normal.

Notice that whever there are rare/unique creatures/races in game,s you almost ALWAYS end up with one in the party. The more unique and special, the more likely to be in your party.

Hmm, lets see...

1: A tranquil who starts to slowly regain his humanity.
2: Female qunari
3: Dalish elf female
4: A really serious/strict templar
5: A chasind barbarian
6: The messenger from DA:O Awakening.

Wow! epic!
(Plus i want to see The Architect with his creepy voice...)

I just thought that he might be a nice annoyance for the others to bug you about! That, and he rocked! :D

The Warden! It would require a LOT of work on Bioware's part though. You would have to be able to pick their personality traits (manipulative, honest, snarky, compassionate, concerned only with the greater good, promiscuous, etc.) and the warden would have to do different things based on your choices. You would have to be able to design their appearance at the start as well as Hawke's (so they could look like your warden). Come to think of it, this probably won't ever happen. But it would be cool.

A companion type that I would like to have would be a character who's initially antagonistic towards Hawke, but later becomes a loyal supporter, even possible LI.

For example, say you play as mage Lady Hawke. There could be a character, a duty driven male Templar, who's initially hostile towards Lady Hawke because she's an apostate mage ( and so is Bethany and their father ). When you first encounter this character, he would be an enemy that you fight ( perhaps he's pursuing you ).

But, later on in the story, he somehow joins Hawke's party ( perhaps to combat a common threat ). Over time, his attitude towards Hawke changes ( and vice versa ) and he becomes one of Hawkes most loyal companions, even a possible LI.

A human male 2H warrior.
Sarcastic, cynical, cocky, intimidating, loves violence, a bit of a psychopath.
Somewhat similar to Nathan Drake in appearance. A possible LI, relationship with femHawke is based on lust and attraction.

Oh wow. I just described my maleHawke.

You can't top Morrigan, but I'm sure BW will come up with something close for Hawke to interact with.

I wouldn't even want them to try to top Morrigan. Rather they come up with a separate character with its own identity.

My only desire regarding companions is that they'll actually stay with Hawke for a large portion of the game, with an exception perhaps for certain plot-related absences. I do not want to see a revolving-door, ensemble cast of temporary companions who follow me around for an hour or two before their part of the story is over. I also realize it's way too late in the design process for this to be changed if that's the developers have planned. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Someone kind of like the Hanged man that was supposed to be in the cancelled Fallout 3, and from what I've seen on the Fallout wikia is not in New Vegas.

They should be evil. Really, damn evil, but incredibly loyal to you. Maybe have their approval high when you get them, and you'd really have to work to lower it. They won't question what you do, but they'll do things that make you question yourself for keeping them around.

Well they've said there is at least 2 of each class... so with that in mind and with going on the potential that the 2 Hawke Siblings won't make remain companions for much past the opening act (just a hunch, all Bioware games have red-shirts).

Mage
Elven Female - Maybe get to free her from some nasty tevinter scum
Human Male - that isn't like Jowan or Anders, sort of like a younger Irving, but not too young.

Warrior
Human Female - Chasind Barbarian looking to 'swoop down upon Male Hawke'
Anderfels Human Male - Would be interesting to see how one would react to a Lady Hawke.
Cassandra - though naturally she wouldn't be one possibly till late in the game (possibly akin to Loghain maybe?)

Rogue
Varric - we already know he is a follower
Pirate Woman from trailer - due to her duel wielding in the trailer and obviously being a pirate going to assume rogue.

I'd be happy for any character inspired by someone out of a David Gemmell book.

Preferably Druss, Skillgannon or Connavar

Y'know, if done right this could make for a great companion. Maybe they'll lack hidden depths (though I'm sure BW would be able to make 'em a rounded character), but we'd get hilariously over-the-top moments of eeeevil to make up for it.
Anyone ever read Looking For Group?

Since Morrigan was my babe, in DA2 would rather have strong male bonding buddy as Hawke.

Romanceable female companion that isn't ugly. Otherwise realistic characters, but it seems they're all going to be way to stylized and fanciful.
