Blight Survivor? Kirkwall?

Also... how can Hawke be a Blight survivor? It never happened. The DA1 gang put a stop to that with a lot of other allies... darkspawn were mounting yes, but the archdemon was killed in one way or another....
Do you think Kirkwall, Hawke's apparent hometown will factor in like Denerim?

I wonder if we'll be running into Nathaniel Howe considering he was in the Free Marches during the Blight. This is of course assuming that the game takes place both during and after the Blight (as hinted by one of the Bioware reps).
Not during the blight.......after it though we don't know how long after. There's been no hint at any DAO overlap in any way. Hawke survived the blight.....that's just a bit of background not something we'll get to play.

My money is on Tevinter. Definitely NOT Ferelden as Hawke has already clearly been announced to not be from Ferelden and it doesn't sound like him being hero of Kirkwall is in any way related to the blight. Sort of like Loghain was the hero of river dane and a survivor of the blight but the two had nothing to do with each other.
I am going with that too. The Free Marsh's are very clsoe to Tevinter and it is one of the places people want to see, up there with Orlais.

Actually (as I referenced), it's possible that it's not only after the Blight.

So there actually has been a hint.

If it's supposed to be a rags-to-riches story, then it's a little odd if he had that title already (but again, there's nothing saying he can't be a penniless Champion).
So...IF the Kirkwall thing is part of the game, then theoretically "surviving the Blight" could be part of the game too. Eh, it's kind of a long shot, I know.
But then there's the matter of this decade-long span. If it's going to be like Fable, where stuff happens then a bunch of time passes, then more stuff happens, it seems pretty feasible that the beginning of the game could be Hawke's flight from Ferelden and arrival in Kirkwall, then his/her subsequent earning of the title of Champion of Kirkwall. Then x years pass, then the game resumes.

This. The intrigue-ridden rich places (a la Amn) are the most interesting.drkshine86 wrote...

Tevinter has promise... maybe. Ah hell, Ferelden was a boring setting compared to Amn, frankly.

That has NOTHING to do with any hint of playing during the blight. It just says that from the start of the game to the end about 10 years in-game time pass and power struggles are NEVER realistically done in a short time.....they usually take years and years of planning. Ever played Fable 1 and 2? In both games the story skips a lot of years....in the first your character is imprisoned and in the second he serves as a prison warden for a couple of decades.

Maybe it'll be in some DAO DLC, the same DLC where we get our Morrigan resolution.

Yes, I vote Orlais too, even though I don't think it's very likely. After hearing Leliana describe it at such length, I can't think of any other place on Thedas I'd like to see.

Bioware had a chance to show Orlais in Leli's song but ruined it and changed her backstory.

if you actually read it (including what he quoted), you'll see that he corrects the claim by a poster that the game takes place after the Blight. Of course this doesn't mean it has to occur during the Blight. But it also means that it's not all after the Blight. I'm just saying that there's a chance it occurs during the Blight, and if so, then we might run into Nathaniel Howe. Perhaps read for comprehension next time instead of immediately dismissing my point.

Howe survived the blight so you don't really need to play during the evenys of DAO to see him though I doubt he'd be a permanent party member.

That would mean hiring a bunch of people to do an English/French accent. I'm not able to handle that in droves. Or was that orlais
