OP is crazy, more love interests with deeper romance story arcs.

this is where Mass Effect 2 failed, the romance arcs were a joke!

Keep DA games RPGs and a staple of RPG is the romance storyline!

DA:O was fantastic for romances. The romance scenes could have been more adult oriented (see ME1) but the story and conversation to the romances were excellent!

Sorry to say this but please ignore the OP, more is definately better in this case!

Kalfear romance is personal taste. I prfer Miri out off all the romances, that does not mean I am wrong. Its a personal taste.

He said the romance arcs were a joke and that's pretty much true, you share the same dialogue with non-romanced characters and the romance is only shown if you tell them 'yes' or 'no' on if you're attracted to them. Then there's another dialogue that says they will get ready and then you're sleeping  with them.

I liked Ashley as a romance in ME1, I'll still say that her romance was very, very shallow in terms of actual depth.

As for LIs continuing beyond sex, absolutely, but dialogue exchanges tend to come to an abrupt halt after you reach that milestone.

This is not true for DA:O, though. For both Morrigan and Zevran (50% of available romances), the emotional "payload" isn't even available until way after sex has been in the picture for a while. I think four romances is the perfect amount because it allows for variation. I for one was happy with DA:O romances, both in terms of quality and quantity.

Guess what!? Not everyonel ikes those two or romanced them!! People that romanced Leli had nothing with her after the sex scene.

I still remember some importance with Leliana after the sex scene, don't remember it all that much since it's been forever that I've romanced her but I remember it took almost forever to bed her as well. There was a lot more focus on charming her (the nug pet was a nice touch :P) than the other two. If there wasn't much dialogue at the end, it's probably because it took longer to reach to that point.

Alistair on the other hand has a huge ending if you're a female Human Noble. >.>

Um no. I got the sex scene and finshed her romance before I even went to get the ash's. You can finish all the romances before you get to the landsmeet, I don't care if tehres alot of dialog before, the pacing just sucked, plus only Morriganand Alistair got plot sensitive romance stuff.

My point was that there were options available for those who wanted them. (Well, actually my point was that scyphozoa wasn't entirely correct in his/her assessment of BioWare romances, but anyway.) I understand you didn't like the romances I liked, and probably vice versa. I would've been very disappointed if, say, Alistair and Leliana were the only romanceable options in DA:O. It's impossible to make everyone happy at the same time, because people simply like different things. However, with more options you at least reach more people.

In terms of more depth in romances, sure, I'd definitely like it. However, I would be happy if DA2 romances had the same amount of depth DA:O offered.

Landsmeet is effectively the ending of the game, though. Of course you can finish a romance before you get there, it wasn't Mass Effect where everything was locked down until before you were heading off to the final mission.

So talking with a person and saying you're attracted to them, then sleeping with them without any conversation inbetween is considered a deep romance?

This is simply not true when it comes to 50% of the romances available in DA:O. I'm sorry if you didn't like Morrigan and Zevran, but a lot of people did.

I don't see why depth has to necessarily come at the sacrifice of the amount of characters that you can romance.

To be blunt,  I very genuinely believe that Bioware does not have the Money, the Manpower or the Disc space to add the substance that I would like to see in Love Interests to more than two characters. This assumption isn't based on anything other than previous BW games.

So while I do support the concept and the practice of LIs in BW games, I think the only way to increase quality would be at the expense of quantity.

Um it took me 20 hours to complete the landsmeet thats from healing the arl right to the meet. All romance was done. Everytime, that's not good pacing.

I'm not sure it's relevant to compare ME romances to DA romances in this case, considering DA2 will be written by the same people who wrote DA:O. So, I'm fairly sure that if there are romances in DA2, they will be more akin to those in DA:O than those in the ME franchise.

It is.

Mass Effect romances follow a very simple thread that can easily be manipulated, I've effectively gotten three romances in one playthrough because of it without breaking any of them. The dialogue pre-their loyalty mission is neutral, offering no romance options at all and doesn't hint at it. Once you've completed their loyalty quest, they will have a conversation where they'll show attraction to you.

Jack for example will ask why you're always going to see her, you can say you're interested in her and she'll say "I'll need to think about it". Now whenever you return to the romance option, they'll repeat that same romance dialogue on a loop or question if you want to still be together with them.

If you're 'trapped' in that loop with them, then as soon as you're heading off to the Omega 4 relay, you're getting a sex scene. It's not like Dragon Age where you effectively have to charm and woo them, you just have to say "Yes, I want you" and it's done.

If you hold off on talking with them after the loyalty quests, you can go meet them AFTER the ending of the game and say you're interested - it'll immediately skip to the sex scene, even though it won't make sense in terms of time. Whenever I talk to Jack, Miranda or Tali they will give me the romance dialogue.

My Shepard is a pimp because of how simple it is to manipulate the romance arcs in ME.

Oh pleese. You can ****** Morigan off, but give her gifts and it's "lets have sex!" long as you say you can probe me anytime, ****** her off after then spam gift her and she will sleep with you. Ya that's great, real great <_< Accept it, not everyone jumped on the DAO romance bandwagon. The only good ones where Leli and Morrigan.
