@topic:
I very much support greater depth in the romances. If greater depth means fewer love interests, I'd be fine with that. To only have 2 wouldn't be enough, though, because that would mean only 1 for each gender. What if I don't like that character, but really like romance plots? So 4 would be ok, I guess.

i want a romace where you treat the girl badly.betray her.sleep with her sister and have her crawl back wanting to be with you even more.Siradix wrote...
Just slap a japanese light visual novel within the game and blam, you got yourself all the romance you need.
Can anyone see a romance like that happening over 10 years?

Okay, so this turned into an argument of ME2 or DA:O had the better romances....... I'd say definately DA:O, but it's all up to personal taste.

Oh pleese. You can ****** Morigan off, but give her gifts and it's "lets have sex!" long as you say you can probe me anytime, ****** her off after then spam gift her and she will sleep with you. Ya that's great, real great <_< Accept it, not everyone jumped on the DAO romance bandwagon. The only good ones where Leli and Morrigan.
Alistair's romance was charming, silly and cute. Many women I know who played the game felt a lot closer to Alistair than Jacob / Thane or Garrus. Why? Because you explore with them, you talk and get to know them and you're there with them all the way. The entire thing about the Mass Effect romance is that the dialogue is hollow, you can't flirt with them - they flirt with you, you pick to accept it or not.
The romances in Dragon Age aren't as easy, you need to please your significant other and entertain them. Some of them are different people and have different habits, Morrigan for example will sleep with you early in the relationship because she doesn't see 'sex' as 'love' but just a tool. Having sex with her doesn't end the romance, it continues and it's part of it.
Mass Effect romances build up with one or two conversations before the sex scene and then that's it, no more and no less. Somebody who slept with Tali will only get a small extra bit of dialogue saying she's sick, there's no conversations that follow deeper into the person you've just 'romanced'. If anything, Mass Effect romances feel like nothing but a fling considering how Shepard only smiles and nods through the entire romance

Then you misunderstood me. I mean 4 altogether = 2 for each gender. Otherwise the depth would suffer (imo). :-)kraidy1117 wrote...

And 2 for each gender + 2 same sex are an ideal number for me.

Mass Effect romances are too short and rather shallow imo (all of them)
I think BG2, KotoR and DAO romances had more depth...and more dialogue.

I was emotionally manipulated like a puppet and utterly engaged by the unfolding of dialogue and story, and was left a quivering, blubbering emotional wreck by the end - a feeling that I couldn't shake for days after I had finished the game. Even now when I think about it there's almost a sore spot in my heart (omg that sounds so lame, maybe someone out there knows what I mean). I'm sure this is what Dave Gaider was hoping for, and it's testament to the team's fine writing skills. An amazing feat!
As much as I will miss and pine for my "computer game boyfriend" to come back and talk to me one last time, I have complete trust in Dave and his team's ability to achieve the same level of emotional engagement in DA2. Maybe even better than before? Who knows. But with all the same peeps working on it, we shouldn't expect any less.
