Would anyone mind having the choice to customize your companions faces/skin?

The toolset feels like cheating though.

...you've never used the toolset before have you?

A .mor file that changes nothing but a characters face hardly constitutes as cheating.

I mean using it feels as if you're going against the Dev's intent, like making Sten an elf or something.

You can't make sten an elf. Why would BioWare include a toolset if they don't intend for players to use it?

To add stuff to the campaign.

Seeing as you can't edit the campaign and conversations is proof enough they don't want you messing around with it. Which is a damn shame because I wanted to change the conversations so I could keep my helmet on during them.

They have a massive wiki that teaches you how to use the toolset, and they let anyone download the toolset.

Yes they CLEARLY don't want us to use it.

Do you see your logic here?

No, I mean they clearly dont want you editing the campaign, because you can't.

You can actually edit the campaign. Additional dialogue CAN be added. Helms CAN be worn in conversations (it requires alot of scripting but it can be done), NPCs from the main story CAN be turned into party memebers/LIs, new maps and quests can be added.

Have you seen any modding sites? Or used the toolset?

How recently have you been able to do that? I remember making a post a while back asking how to go about making Helmets visible in conversations, and people posted saying it couldn't be done, as the campaign wasn't editable in the toolset.

There was talk about it over on DAnexus a few months back. Basicly it required you to edit the scripting for every single converesation in game. A few mods have NPCs engage in conversation with helms on, however they're usually brief. Such as the Redcliff knight in Lothering. Nothing on the scale of the whole game though which is a shame.

It can be done, but it mostly likely won't due to the sheer amount of work involved.

Damn. I sure hope DA2 doesn't force you to go helmetless.

I actually love this idea. I admittedly spend a ridiculous amount of time screwing around with the character creator. Frankly, I don't know why games that allow for so much customization of your characters like ME or DA:O don't have barbers lying around for mid-game style change. It seems particularly befitting for a game like DA 2 which will cover 10 years of Hawke's life.

I know people who loved Fable 2, for instance, loved being able to dye clothes different colors.

If you can change them to how you personally want them to look, then surely that makes them more unique?
