Dragon Age Origins was made under EA, so how is it logical to assume that because Bioware is now under EA, it will have to do a game with less quality than Dragon Age Origins, which was also made while Bioware was under EA, and has sold rather well for EA and Bioware?
This forum has been barely readable these last couple days.
Work on Dragon Age was started long before EA entered the picture. There was a forum up for discussing a new created by Bioware game that didn't have a title for a long time. Then, I think it was first mentioned as Dragon Age in 2004. EA bought Bioware in, was it 2007? Even EA can't muck up something created before they can touch it. Once they can though, all bets are off. MEpc was ported under EABioware, which might have contributed to those little teensy problems with the game; bug hunting and quality control take time and money, and it would take a lot to convince me that EA didn't have a vested interest in getting MEpc out the door, whether it was ready or not. I remember how active the forums were when the announcement hit of ME coming for the pc. [followed shortly thereafter by the "are-you-a-pirate-yet-check-online-every-ten-days-or-your-legal-game-shuts-down" drm fiasco, also prompted by EA the publisher].
Awakening was made under EABioware. Wasn't the conversation system, the in-depth stories of your companions and the wonderful rune-crafting up to the same high standards as Origins? No? Why not? Of course it cost a lot, and one of the devs admitted they didn't have the "word" budget for Awakening that they did for Origins. So who cut back? Bioware or EA?
I hope someone adds an entry to the wiki listing all the conversation triggers and who you need to have in your party to get all the conversations. I would be willing to make one more playthrough with my favorite City Elf character to get all the conversations and find out Oghren's story. The first two times I took a character through Awakening I got none of the conversations besides the automatic ones triggered by a gift like the Howe bow. I eventually started abusing the heck out of my tab key and got a few more conversations. Having to play musical companions to take everyone through an area with my tab key clamped down to make sure of getting the conversation triggers got real old real fast.
Maybe there will be information released that will make this sound better. But I'm not going to hold my breath. Its going to take a lot of information to persuade me this game will be worth it.

don't forget Bioware is now in EA-s grip, no wonder everyone fears a drop in quality
Come on man. EA aren't the badguys they used to be. Activision are the villains now.
that we have both Twoface and Joker now doesn't mean Batman doesn't have to kick the ass of both
Umm...Awakening?
EDIT - didn't see the post above mine DanaScu summed it up well.

Origins was finished under EA- they started work on it well before they were taken in by EA. So DA2 would their first game after ME2 which has been made from start to finish under EA.
That's a fair point, and I concede that I was mistaken to an extent. But I still think part of my point stands. Why would EA compel Bioware to alter a formula that has made EA and Bioware alike a lot of money? Or from a different perspective, if EA acquired Bioware because it is good for a particular purpose, why would they then damage that purpose?
Granted, I haven't played either Mass Effect game, so unlike some others, ME doesn't affect my views since I know nothing about it.
Because "Market research" tells EA that only shooters sell well consistently, so every game must be some version of a shooter.
Mass Effect 2 is the absolutely perfect example. Every single RPG element was removed and instead a half-baked Shooter was implemented. Even down to implementing a Doom style "End of level!" screen.
Go read the interviews with the ME2 team, listen to them rave about how great it is to have made the game a shooter and how unimportant all the RPG elements were.
We live in a world where there's only one type of game now, people just randomly slap genre names on that game thinking it'll sell some copies.

Those games, especially the sports ones, have a fanbase that will automatically buy the new games when they come out, even if everything is the same as last years version, with the newest "star" players added. Some of the Sims players will buy anything EA shovels out as dlc, no matter what. Spore has had how many add-on packs? If its selling, they don't need to make it a shooter.
Of course it also helps that EA shuts down servers for games when they deem there aren't enough players. If you want online play, you have to have the new game. http://www.ea.com/2/service-updates
