Sir Elf 05 wrote...

as long as you are able to choose Hawke's Race and gender I'm fine with the new direction.

Gender. Not race. You play as human.

And I pass. Dissapointed, not excited.

Still to early to tell, but I'm sure I will once we get some more solid information; maybe even a trailer.

A March 2011 release seems a little soon, though i look forward to an even deeper and epic story than the first, i just can't seem to worry a bit about the early release, but if anyone can do it, bioware can

Hell YEAH!!! DA2 is shaping up to be a billion times better than DAO. Our PC will probably have a voice, we can only play as human making downloadable content dealing with armors and such much easier to handle for the devs, the story is shaping up to be truly epic....we play as the most powerful character that ever lived in the DA universe in his rise to power. Everything about this game sounds beyond amazing......completely stomps DAO in terms of awesomeness like a giant crushing an ant.

I am very excited, I have already told my husband that he will see less of me when this comes out. For now I will content myself with replaying my old favourites and trying to persude Bioware to consider some of my fashion/armour ideas(hehe).

Yes very.

I just hope they didn't change the combat too much.

I am somewhat excited, DAO was a letdown for me so I have to make sure the changes they make will allow me to enjoy the game.

I'm pretty excited! not for the trailer, but for more info.

i think because of the jump between ME1 and ME2. sorta hoping once they've got some ground work and feedback, we should see improvements for DA2.

I just really hope they make some epic music pieces. (sorry nostalgia, just listened to some BG1 & 2 music)

and i'm abit worried about the combat and art style/graphics. i really enjoyed the combat(i played as a mage and on PC). as for the art style- i hope it'll be unique. Trying to be realistic is fine but it can also look dated because of that, and the production time, aswell as other games.

I am very excited!

I loved DA:O very much and you can call me a fanboy if you wish. But I am a big fan of long, deep stories and I felt that was missing in DA:O as they tried to give as much freedom as possible. I think they managed this very well, but I feel it weakened the plot. Now one of the things that did this was the origins, which ofc is a great idea but it made the story patched together into seperate parts.

Only being able to be human is a big choice (as people are burning down the streets because of it) but I believe this will give the story more depth as it is more focused on the character. I think this is a good thing and I believe this will contribute to making this a really epic game.

Idno why I bothered writing so much but I'm just sharing my impression so far!

I just adore Origins. But not exited with DA 2 at all. Just consider dates. Dragon Age. Origins was released in November 2009, DA 2 is promised to be released in March 2011. I remember the times when even a two year development was considered to be too short for the RPG. So I won't be surprised if DA 2 lacks a lot of great features of Origins.

I'm excited about the new art visual style and the new cinematic experience. I'm also intrigued by the line "Think like a general and fight like a Spartan". I can't wait to see what my favorite developer has in store for us!

Me when I heard DA2 was announced: :wizard:

Me when I heard you could only play human, and your name would be "Hawke": ....:crying:....<_<

WAS very excited, now I'm somewhat disappointed, and scared that DA2 will be a dumbed-down RPG-lite, with little or no replay value. :(

I'm just hoping that those fears will prove unfounded.

I have to say i'm VERY excited, even with all the negatives i've heard about it. Only thing i'm slightly confused about is if you can customise your PC's face, i understand we're stuck as a human but that doesn't bother me so much.

I literally jumped up and down when I first saw this forum come up and the DA 2 page. It's Dragon Age, of course I'm looking forward to it! The cinematic experience sounds very interesting.

I am excited.  Disappointed my Warden/Morrigan story ends but look forward to something new from Bioware with better graphics and am curious about the 10 year story angle

I have high hopes for DA 2. But i only fear that Hawke has a pre-set personality with a complex past etc. etc. I would like to be a ruthless and hardened warrior who would sell his soul for power

I hope they change the combat system for the console version, the SW:KotOR style combat leaves way too much to be desired. As for limiting choices, I suppose it makes sense if it does indeed give Bioware a chance to make a better story for the choices that remain. Aside from a few changes to the dialog and a side quest or two, the differences in Dragon Age was based more on class rather than race. It was frustrating in the extreme to play as a Dwarf noble fighter and find that there were hardly any differences in the game than when I played as a Human noble fighter. If this game were "realistic," the hoops that a cast out Dwarf would have to jump through should have been radically different. I didn't even bother to take an Elf fighter through the game.

I am excited as much as I am worried. I'm interested in seeing these better graphics but am waiting in anxiety to see how much the new combat system differs from the old. Also sad about not playing as a dwarf, although the majority of my playthroughs in DA:O are human. Should still have an excellent story however, and I'm excited about the new companions.
