I keep looking for other RPG games like Dragon Age Origins, but none exist. However, I do understand that Bioware has it's own ideas and what we as gamers, who purchase their products, want to play are the differences between night and day. Bioware will produce what they want regardless of customer input, its the American way. That's exaclty why they are pushing people to pre-order now! Once you've paid you are locked in --no matter how they produce the game. They will have your money and that's their bottom line. Thank you.

What attracted me to DAO/A was its character customization, the plot origins, the romance and all the other aspects of DAO. It seems that Bioware is getting away from that.
mmm.. ok you won't have origins and your character will have a pre-determined race
but where did they say you won't have a great story ?
where did they say you won't have romances?
where did they say you won't have tons of decisions to face which could bring you either in a good or in an evil path?
just because you will begin with a pre-determined background it doesn't mean that you won't have the opportunity to play a character that fit your personality...

1, Bioware is Canadian so they are not doing the American thing.
2. Don't generalize what American's do.
3. It is to early in my opinion to say I wont get this game because they dropped Character customization (not confirmmed as far as I know) and the Origin stories.
4. Bioware said all along that Dragon Age was the story of the land, not the story of 1 character.
5. I'm waiting for a Collectors/Limited Edition to be announced before I preorder.

If Bioware wants to retain customers then they should be forthcoming with all of their plans for DA2, not just a teaser. Furthermore, In all honesty as a software copany they have total artistic license. They don't have to create a game based upon what their customers want.
Incidentally, a gaming friend of mine pointed out to me, this morning, that if the storyline is great and the game itself is playable, what's the problem? It is still playable!?! Well, that may very well be true, but it may not be a game that I personally want to play. It is all a matter of preference.
I tend to agree with "Relhart" I want to see a demo first? Thank you.

They announced the game yesterday. All of the marketing, discussion, presentation, and communcation about the game are still yet to come. There is no reason to even consider whether you will purchase or pre-purchase it, or how it will measure up the previous game yet at all. All the usual things will come with time.
I mean, there's a topic on the forum about how the *first* magazine article on the game won't come out until later this month. We have no idea waht sort of game this is, and the presumption is still that it will be similar to DAO.

Why would anyone ever preorder a game this early anyways?
Because I have the tendacy to forget things. I pre-ordered FFXIV Online last year and the game doesn't even come out until September of this one. I changed it over to the Collector's a week ago but still.

After reading the splash screen for Dragon Age 2, I have decided not to prepay for the game; simply because it doesn't appear to be much in line with Dragon Age Origins or Awakening. To me it wouldn't be worth .50 cents. What attracted me to DAO/A was its character customization, the plot origins, the romance and all the other aspects of DAO. It seems that Bioware is getting away from that.
You got all that from a picture of a guy holding a spear with some marketing hype about how fun and immersive the game is going to be?

Its a bad habit. Paying for a game a year in advance was the greatest invention video game outlets ever had.

That's why I don't do it in the game stores anymore. I pre-order all of my games though Amazon. They take no money until the game has shipped. They also adjust prices if you pre-order and it was more expensive and the price drops. No matter what the adjustment is.

Ah, well then that's different.

If Character customization is chucked out the window ( Not buying Dragon age 2 )
In fact Im 70% sure im not buying this game. Just because they dumped are Origins and alot of good things about Dragon age inclluding elfs and dwarfs that everybody loved. What is the point?

What? No game company. And I mean no game company, announces a game and then goes on to show you all their plans for it. They give you pieces and tidbits to keep you interested and wanting more, like the thirties pulp magazines did with their stories.Jallard wrote...

It's marketing suicide to come out with your entire hand on the table. BioWare's playing with their hand close to their chest like every smart video game developer... ever.

And why is that? I hated the lack of voices for my PC in Dragon Age. Yea, it was a throwback to the old games, but that doesn't mean it was a good thing. I love Mass Effect's dialogue system.UberDuber wrote...

And they're not going to be throwing customization out the window, you'll just have only a Human to customize.
As for the Origins, there is no information on whether or not they will be included. Personally, I'm betting they include Origin stories for each class (which, I hope, they increase, now that we have fewer race selections).
Everyone needs to calm down and qq less until more info is released on the game. At this point it's all speculation and assumption, and assuming makes an ASS out of U and ME.

For example, I never liked Mass Affect or Mass Affect 2. The storyline was good. I just didn't like how played. When Dragon Age Origins came out I was intrigued, because that is the type of RPG games I would absolutely love to play. I can tell you that with all of the other RPG games on the market today--in my opinion--none compare to Dragon Age Origins: and, I would not waste my money on them. If Bioware deviates from Dragon Age Origins, I probably won't buy it. It is just that simple.
