I'm actually curious to see what this might result in in ME3. Casey Hudson said more than once that there WILL be consequences if a player who has an ME1 romance chooses to go with one of the ME2 romance subplots. Nevertheless, I'm working on a playthrough where I'm staying true to Ashley. My female Shepard, on the other hand, has completely moved on and is sticking with Thane.

Is this the same Hudson who promised "consequneces" in ME2 only to have them rendered down into emails, by any chance?

The consequence will just be that you can't have both.

Seriously, what else can they do?

It has been as long for Shepard as it has been for the player: note how the two years having passed between both games pretty much mirrors the games' release dates in our world.

The player wasn't unconscious (at least I hope so^_^)

The "Oh captain my captain" line from Ash made me want to throw up and Liara didn't seem that interesting. Therefore I romanced no one in one of my play throughs and am now currently playing through ME2 with said character.

No LI going Medea, please. Would like Liara´s revenge were getting the ME2 LI to dump Shepard and go to her.

Yes, you are a jerk;). Put yourself in their place. And if you feel that distance, you choose to go to anyone new than learn why that distance is there? You can´t in ME2, but maybe in ME3. I´m not holdong my breath, though, writing was bad here.
ME1 was NOT a one night stand. Don´t talk about number of sexscenes, just listen to conversations instead of skipping them. It is clear they are falling in love, and Shepard too (unless you think of his options as saying what they want to hear to bed them). Bond and Kirk seem to be getting old fashoioned now, and about time.

Just because someone has moved on in their playthrough doesn't make them a jerk. Or a Kirk. Or a Bond.

I don't get it. Why do the faithfuls have to judge? Is it just a hobby?

I didn't skip any conversations, I listened to the whole romance. It felt like the very beginning of a relationship to me. I was looking forward to it blossoming into an actual relationship in ME2. And then - nothing. Not a thing. Tumbleweeds.

Then I find someone I genuinely like better and apparently I can't be with that person honestly without completely rewriting my character's history. Thanks, BioWare.

I kind of hope you can't go back to your old LI at all...they should just dump your butt.

Maybe that's the consequence?

But you left them for someone you love. They can't dump you. The romance is already over.

Apparently, seeing as how ME3 is the end of Shepard's story, the consequences will be much larger this time around. They will basically throw everything on you, in accordance with how you played ME1 and 2. So, judging by this, I'd expect something more than just emails in ME3. That's what Hudson stated in his recent interviews, anyway.

We liked the characters and didn´t like what they did to them for whatever they had in mind sake. It is the kind of writing that makes me angry at the writer rather than the character. Guess it annoys me people blame the character instead.
What will you do if it is indeed a trap and the consequences are really serious?

Feron with Liara?. Tali had Kal´Reegar, give Liara someone even more badass.

Yeah, if you're sleeping around, and not having one commited romance, I say the whole crew should dump him, or not romance him off reputation, and ex's post pictures of him on the internet.

I don't know. But he said a lot of questionable things, like "Liara is asexual" or "Miranda is simple". And he was the one who said the dry-humping in the love scenes were an "artistic choice" instead of anticipatory self-censorship (heh, not surprised he wouldn't admit to cowardice, but that doesn't change anything). So sorry, Mr. Hudson, if I can't take anything you say quite seriously any more.

I'll think BioWare was being most unjust. They didn't even let me break up. It means if you're interested in someone else, you HAVE to be a cheater. Which is about as unfair as what they did to the ME1 LIs.

You may get mad at people blaming the characters rather than the writing, but by the same token, don't many faithfuls blame people like me for moving on when they should also be blaming the bad writing, which led to my decision?

I do blame the writers, sorry if it came across otherwise. But if you saw the trap and went with it then I just don´t understand. No attack intended.

I leave getting mad at people for things more important than a hobby, but somehow it seems I´m always angry in my posts.

In ME1 I tried romancing Liara and Ashley. They confronted me and I had to choose Liara.

In ME2, I started chatting up Miranda, then dumped her for Jack. Then after the Omega 4 mission, I dumped Jack, then messed around with Kelly briefly before starting a relationship with Tali.

So, my Shepard is a complete womanizing jerk. (Not at all like me in real life) It would be pretty great if the women in the next game started warning each other about him...
