I do blame the writers, sorry if it came across otherwise. But if you saw the trap and went with it then I just don´t understand. No attack intended.
I leave getting mad at people for things more important than a hobby, but somehow it seems I´m always angry in my posts.

I get a little worked up about this, I know you're not trying to be offensive. I've just been through this song and dance too much and I'm tired of people knocking my romance instead of just minding their own romances.

I mean just look:

I romanced Liara and Miranda. See how they do this just to pick on me? You see?!

I know what this is! The faithfuls can't have a romance in ME2 so they make up for it by badmouthing the unfaithfuls, cuz it's all they can do until ME3!

By the way, what trap are you talking about?

My femsheps are staying loyal, not necessarily all through choice.

Canon Shep hasn't experienced the two years that others have and is having some trouble with that.  For her, the emotions of loss are still felt keenly as she was/is genuinely emotionally attached to Kaidan.  I am one of those who imagine that the relationship continued on during the two months prior to the start of ME2, maybe with that much hinted at shore leave there at the start.

After Horizon she was hurting pretty bad and decided to look elsewhere because things seemed over, but Jacob, while cute, was unappealing personality-wise, Garrus just wound up being too much like a younger brother instead of someone you sleep with, and Thane is dying and she just got bounced out of a relationship where one of the partners died.  In the end, she had to be honest and admit that sleeping with any of the three would have the unfortunate feel of cheap rebound sex.

That and I feel the male romance options weren't handled very well for femsheps.  I'm not even sure that I'll bring over my femshep that didn't romance Liara (never could stand her characterization in ME1) and left Kaidan behind on Virmire.  She just doesn't have any good options (for my personal taste of course) thanks to the writing of the romances in ME2.

*shrug* Some people get over things quickly.  I just never have.

Staying loyal only because you looked for another romance and didn't like any of them. How very noble

Because Ashley/Kaiden and Liara are going to be back in ME3 and they are going to be hotter and ****tier then ever. They are litterally going to rub it in your face to just to show you what you gave up.

That would be so awesome if the ditched ME1 loves were all pissed off at Shepard in ME3.
I hope there is a text option like this

"I'm sorry baby. I acted like a varren.  Please take me back. I've only got eyes for you!"

Yes because there's NO way you could possibly play it both ways and load the save you want in ME3....shakes head and smiles

To me if you had Liara as an LI, she would be the only one you "should" stay loyal to because she took care of you so to speak and knew about your true status, ie, you didn't die, ok you died but were brought back. Ash and Kaiden both assumed you died and moved on, greaved, dealt with it. Their response "I hate you" says to me , we're done. Period.

Their emailed apology is too little , too late. Since I thought Liara was a little weird in ME1, I never pursuded her as a LI. She creeped me out. Kaiden was just too creepy and Ash was a royal b*tch. So I never felt like I cheated.

Besides to use another posters logic. Comparing it to being deployed in Afghanistan or where ever, if your loved one got notice you died in action.... they would have a service, cry their asses off and MOVE on. Why is this any different? Yes they eventually find out hey shepard is resurrected and works with the most hated terrorist group in the galaxy...guess what? Still over

To me theres no compelling reason to assume any LI you had previously would not be in the past and done, with the exception of Liara as stated previously.

The trap I mean is that they tried so hard to have the player go to another LI without actually telling the former it is over that it looks they are looking for something to happen in ME3 rather than being shippers for the new ones.

I think there was enough between Shep and Ash/Kaidan to have an actual conversation between the characters before deciding what to do. That is why I won´t "cheat" on them either, rather I´m playing a single Shepard for Miranda.
6 new LIs and I only care for one. How many did you find actually compelling?

Come on, not this "no compelling LIs" again. You know it's purely subjective, right?

I was very tempted to ditch Liara and start a romance with Miranda, but then when I went to Illium and learned that Liara got all messed up trying to save me, I started to feel guilty and decided not to cheat after all.

It wasn´t  a rethorical question. I´m actually interested in who liked who and why.

EDIT: I liked most of them as characters, just not as LIs.

I stayed loyal to Ash even after horizon. I don't know if it's her personality, the past romance, or the touching email she sent me but all the other romances (yes even Tali's) didn't seem to compare.

Also during that scene on horizon you can see her show more emotion in her face than any of the other LI's.

(though that isn't hard when your talking about a guy who's had half of his face blown off, a black stereotype, a Michael Jackson lookalike who's ass does most of the talking,a lizard man with fish lips, A biker chick with a shaved head and way too much makeup, and a woman that wears a hazmat suit all the time. It's still something though....)

Thane.  Thane was a compelling LI and a fascinating character who had alot of lead-in to the romance.  And his romance, to me, is downright absolutely  the best.  But as Mash said above, it's purely subjective and there are plenty of people who don't feel the same as I do and that's fine.

Jack.  I personally haven't gone through the Jack romance, but Jack is another interesting character and from what I've seen on youtube / read / heard, her paragon romance is powerful stuff.

Garrus.  I think Garrus and Shepard (at least some versions of Shepard) fit together like hand-in-glove.  He is just right for my infiltrator Shepard and yes, she did leave Kaidan for Garrus.

Miranda.  Yet again, another great character with many facets to her personality and to her romance.

I was about to comment on how Thane's romance is exceptionally well done, but after Kaimana's post above, no need.

I had a relationship with Ashley at my first playthrough of ME1 & ME2.
When I get at Normandy I saw that picture of her at my desk and I thought something good is going to happen...
After the meeting I don't know why,but I was talking very often with everyone of my crew, but I never had a sensual dialogue leading to romance with anybody.
I think this might be becuase the first person I talked after meeting Ashley was Joker, and he asked me how the things went, and I replied that it was hard and I still loved her...

Perhaps he is a gossiper and telled everyone, and none wanted to show her feelings...

(But the cutscene before entering Ω4 relay with Shepard holding and looking the picture of her was very touching)Image IPB

I stayed loyal to Ashley.

Why?

In-character reason: My Shepard is a paragon and feels there is still hope for them. The message she sends later reinforces this.

MY reason: To spite the writers and whatever hormone-crazed teenager that designed the female outfits.for ME 2.Image IPB

No really, Ashely's one of my favorite characters in the whole ME series.  Tough, independant, dependable, and recites poetry. What's not to like?

I like Ashley too and I thought she was the best of the bunch.  But to be honest I gave up on the whole romance stuff, went back to ME 1 and virmire'd her.  I think it adds more punch to the ME1 story to lose her in the fight against Saren.

Eh, the reasons vary across all my Shepards as to their personal levels of loyalty, but I started out excited by the idea of new potential romances since the I like the ME1 romances so very much. So, I decided my canon Shep would toy with the idea and likely go through with one until they wound up being so disappointing for me. Then, since I had already started flirting, I had to find a way to explain it to myself for the character. Hence, she thought about it, but couldn't go through with it. I, myself, found the new romances didn't engage me enough for me to want to follow through.

If you romanced Liara in the first one, you gotta look at this from an Asari perspective. It is common for asari to have mutliple partners throughout their lifetime because they outlive almost any other race. 2 years to Liara is nothing. While she knew shepard died, she was the one that was in charge of getting Shepard's body to Cerberus. Actually, since my Shep romanced her, I feel that Liara's involvement of Shepard's body is even more romantic. Sure she was dealing with the Shadow Broker and all, but it's my adventure damnit! I'll think what I want XD

Plus, I like the new badass Liara. She and my renegade Shep make such a cute couple :)

I just hope they can fight together in ME3 because two badass women destroying the reapers would just be gold :)
