What an intense way to play DAO!.. I find that my entire approach to each area is totally different than playing "save, die, reload save, & try again" method.
No diving head first into a battle, surrounded by three or four monsters, and mashing buttons,, instead it is almost total tactics, precision attack, strategic advance and retreat..
fyi, I have not completed DAO even once, I got bored with my builds, characters etc using the "standard" methods.
Currently I am playing on Easy - since easy is tough for me, so I don't qualify for the "no reload challenge".
"Gweneth"
female human DW rogue, , emphasis on str/dex
LI is strictly fem/fem (though Alistair is tempting me:whistle:)
basic approach:
+loot every possible item, or corpse
+stealth, poison, traps, backstabs, dirty fighting- never give the other guy a fair chance:bandit:
+disengage immediately if being attacked by more than two.
+stealth and backstab mages, then release the hound!
+use team at long range first, use Hold command a lot, weaken the enemy -- then melee
+take advantage of all available minor npc characters (like the "cowardly man" early in the origin story)
+RUN!
So far I completed origin story with no difficulty or scares.
*Ostagar went very well until the ogre fight... then accidently shifted to alistair, and Gweneth almost died-- but she got the kill! (great leaping attack animation - wish I could do that when in control)
*Lothering went smoothly until the bears and wolves... had to run a lot! but finally got it done, with only Gweneth and Morrigan still standing.
*Redcliffe village - total trouble! those undead refused to die, several got by me and hid in the village, health poultices were running low, doing mad dash up the hill to the knights, then back to the village, etc -- finally won.
*Redcliffe castle - cake walk after the village -- man grease traps are great ... put one in hall way, put team on hold, then trigger the attack and watch them fall while Liliana and Morrigan blast 'em to bits while they are down.... hardly had to lift a blade...
*Currently at the Circle of Mages tower; stealthed through every closed door and finally made it to
"the fade" where I saved and went to bed.
Great fun! (unless I die -- lol)
"Dead is DEAD" role play changes everything.
