Ok, I'll be first to admit I have a lot of reservations about the possible direction DA2 might take. Granted its from a single announcement on a website and its hardly fair to Bioware to assume missteps off a one page announcement, but as I said elsewhere, when you have a fear and little signs point to that fear, its easy to become fearful.
Having said that I think there's much to be excited about as well. I'm not a fan of Fable 2, but I do remember thinking while playing that game how interesting it could be to see Bioware tell a story that spanned a larger amount of time. I think there's a lot of potential here for some very fun gameplay/storytelling. This is probably the aspect that I find most intriguing. Of course there's the usual Bioware high points that I'm sure we all expect by now -great storytelling, deep NPCs, great interaction with the story, etc.
So what is everyone else here interested in from the DA2 announcement?
(Trying to keep this thread positive as there's no shortage of paranoia threads, many of which I've contributed to.)

I'm looking forward to better graphics, more involved combat, and more than one type of leather armor

Exploring more of Thedas.

Sexy Antivans.
Also the 10 year timespan. Playing out a rise to power and glory sounds great.

I really want to see the new art style. Other than that, it's a Bioware game, so I'm most looking forward to the story and characters.

the story and seeing some other part of thedas, different party members and the really promising sounding "rise to power" thing.

Bioware does have great stories. so i would be surpriced if that was bad.
Combat has allways been abit off imo. Way to easy late game. The resent trend to try and hide the effectiveness of talents is beginning to worry me though.
I prefer a transparent ruleset. It makes it easier for newcomers, and usually harder for good builders.
usually a tranparent rulesystem makes it easier for QA testers to see that something is broken.
I Hope they change the end game items so the game is not very easy lategame and hard earlygame. Well dao 1 was easy no matter what difficulty you put it on once the ruleset was known.

Yeah BIoware's combat RPG elements and combat have always been weak and unbalanced. It is not their strong suit but some of their games are better than others in this respect. I thought DA was one of the better ones.

New companions, new stories, new adventures, and new locations.
They give me those and I will give them a pass on the other shortcomings.

 There were some very long threads in the old days about having long hair. Although with the new concept art, looks like it could finally be a reality!

The graphical improvements and new combat style sound interesting. What I'd really like to see in regards to the combat that featured in DAO was the finishing moves and the decapitations - they're awesome

Despite any criticism I may have for what we've learned, I do know that the story will be amazing as it is in all Bioware games. Even if I disapprove of a lot of their decisions, the game will still be a very good game. It may not feel like Dragon Age anymore, but it will still be a good game.
Let's just hope what we learn in the future will be more similar to the old than it is to the new.

The ten year span is just EPIC, and (although I may be overthinking it) the photo with Hawke and a bunch of white sillohuettes is making me hope for a large amount of companions

Eh... I guess I haven't looked at the positive things a lot. I'm looking forward to the ten year time span as well, as well as improved models. I hope my computer can handle it though.

Still playing through the first, very challenging but not so much so that you have to reload a battle too much before winning it. I appreciate how hard it must be to balance RPG's with so many different character skillsets. What I'm really looking forward to though are better rendered surroundings. The characters in DAO were rendered amazing, but the rendering of the surroundings were dated. I suppose it might have been a difficult tradeoff decision. It didn't really affect my enjoyment of the game though, but I hope it does get improved this time around. The 10 year time span is interesting (kind of like in the stolen throne book), I hope they give us a tangible measure of the time passage. All the games I've played don't give you this indication, and I think it might make the game more immersive.

A true complex story driven/choice driven game.

Chices, choices, the delicios choices.
A lot better character customization since we only play as one character. That means more than 10 different kinds of hair. 20 isn't enough either. Different looking armors/weapons/etc.
Companions.

The story.
Bioware's story telling abilities are the best in the business.
I have complete faith in them that they will make DA 2 better story wise than DAO (which was pretty generic).

A story that's actually about the PC, instead of Alistair and Morrigan.
(Not that I disliked those two...)
