We should pretty much expect every mainstream game to be fully voiced from this point forward with all the positives and negatives that come with it.

Thanks for the link. I don't think I like the idea of a voiced character, but its not a dealbreaker for me. Depending on the voices chosen, I may even prefer it

Every piece of info being released is making it harder for me to like this game. If I wanted ME style dialogue, I'd play ME. I thought the whole idea behind DA was that it was a different kind of RPG???

And there's the dealbreaker. Thanks for that,BioWare.I think it's safe to say I won't be wasting my money on this ME replica.

Voiced character, -50% options to develop your character. Actually, no need for that as he/she is perdetermined anyway. Third person narrative. Not a bad thing. But not a DA thing either. Not really RPGish. More like action/adventure.

Thanks everyone who can't read and demanded a voiced main character.

(A quick question: If DA was more successful than ME, why do you follow the development path of the latter? Didn't you think why the former was more successful? Let me tell you: Because nowadays we rarely have a good RPG, and DA gave us one)

That's crap, it's Mass Effect. We are playing Mass Effect, with Dragons. A person we are controller than, us.
CRPG's are pretty much dead now.

However, rather than stay and fight the darkspawn menace, Hawke flees Ferelden and heads north.

So our "hero" is a coward?

So let me get this straight-

Because the lead is voiced and they're thinking about implementing a ME style dialogue system, suddenly its Mass Effect?

You people. Really? Come on now.

Not really surprised.

One we learned that the characters race and name were predetermined, it wasn't far fetched to expect him to be voiced as well.

Personally, I don't mind as long as the voice actor does a good job. Having voiced characters seems to pretty much be a standard for today's games.

Um...while I appreciate the entertaining hyperbole having the protagonist voiced does not make something a ME clone.  ME is not the only game fully voiced.

Mass Effect has been more successful across the board the DA:O has been, why wouldn't they shift the franchise more in line with what works best?

...urgh... i really just wanted more dragon age with another plot set somewhere else. seems like it wont be it... damn i really should just leave the forums and avoid any spoilers as i intended to from the start. then again i'd probably end up really disappointed when i'd go buy the game then

I just don't see why BioWare feels the need to fix something that isn't broken.

Unless Bioware is committed to giving us the wide variety of options with regards to dialogue that we had in DA:O as opposed to ME and ME2, yes, opinion will start shifting towards the idea that they're merging DA with ME, and no, it's not what we want. Part of DA's appeal is the the variety of choice- to be a rude good guy or a sweet-natured evil-doer or somewhere in between. DNW a Paragon/Renegade option, and by voicing it, you're most likely inherently limiting response options.

That's right -- Torment wasn't a RPG.  It was really action/adventure.

Am I the only one thinking that a voiced protagonist implies a much shorter story?

I'm pretty sure Leliana's Song was a test run or a bridge to get us use to this dialog system.

That had even less options than Mass Effect, that may be a limit of the DLC or a sign of things to come.
