FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
Ok, now that I got that out of my system... Well, I'd say we all kinda expexted Fightmaster Hawke to be voiced. However, Bioware better be working hard on the dialogue. I will not like the expansive responses of DA being replaced by the few and confusing ME convo options. That'd make me a sad and pissed off panda.
Good VAs are a must. I don't care who, just someone who can make me feel the character. I serriously won't be feeling right playing as Fightmaster Hawke if he is too whiny or too macho.

I'd actually like Kirk Acevedo to play Fightmaster Hawke. I really liked his performance as Jackie Estacado in the Darkness. As for fem Hawke, I have no Idea except for Jennifer Hale.

That said, one of my top hopes for who will voice female Hawk is: Grey DeLisle.

It's always good to get classic BG2 voices back.  :wizard:

im ok with this. because unlike all the other people whining i can still connect to my Character even though he has a voice he is still my character because i choose his Personality, Appearance, and Abilities, which is why My Shepard is MY Shepard, i choose everything about him same thing in Alpha Protocol. i dont see why people are complaining about this just because your character is VO doesnt mean you cant choose His/Her personality

The problem is - I don't think that I can choose his Personality -  Don't get me wrong, I like Shepard, but he is not my character - he has this NPC feel about him.

If by "i choose his Personality" you mean that you choose one of the 3 personalities the developers let you choose from because they can't voice the necessary variations for any given situation.

Really if Bioware wants to hold my hand and tell a cinematic, engaging story (Eg Leliana's Song) then just remove dialogue choice entirely.  It was pretty stupid to choose between a couple of different lines for Leliana in that DLC anyway.

Aslong as I can still play it evil, and the story is good, I'm fine.

To me, it sounds like BioWare/EA is going this path because they dont want to lose buyers and fans to The Witcher 2, which will kick DA2 ass, i'm sure of that ...

I don't usually take part in such pointless discussions but I'm bored at the moment so why not...?

Voice acting for Hawke: Was pretty obvious. Personally, I prefer a voiced PC, but to each their own. However, I have not the slightest clue how this makes or breaks a game...

Mass Effect 2 vs DA:O sales: I don't know about the US or other countries, but here in germany, DA:O (40 Euro at amazon) still costs more than ME2 (25 Euro) despite being about 3 month older. I'd think it would be the other way round if ME2 outsold DA:O.

DA 2 will be just like Mass Effect!!!!!1111 ... Seriously, WTF? As of yet, we know almost NOTHING about DA 2. Yes, it uses a VA for the protagonist but that doesn't mean it'll become Mass Effect.
That's like saying
"The PS3 version of DA2 will be controlled with a gamepad. It'll use the combat system of God of War 3! I'm not buying this sh*t!"

Calm down, folks. If you are goin into fanrage, at least wait until you get ANY real information. Please?

Disclaimer: No, I'm not a BioWare fanboy. I'm not even saying DA 2 will be great. But neither am I saying it sucks.
We just don't know yet.

I know this post goes to waste. Stuff like that gets said every 10 minutes but is always squelched by trolls and nardragers. But at least I spend some time writing all this. Feel free to rage on.

At this point yeah.

I'd say that classic DA with a new story (aka what DA2 should have been) would have coexisted just fine with The Witcher.  If anything now they're DIRECTLY competing with The Witcher 2 instead of INDIRECTLY competing.

So if I go kill him in DA:O does that mean that the abomination known as DA2 will cease to exist?

What if DA2 is good?  I mean hypothetically.

It may very well be a good game, but I'm not going to enjoy it if I'm constantly going "gee, what if they had actually made a sequel to dragon age instead of some spin off series".

I'd rather just avoid the entire game altogether and spend my money somewhere else where developers actually deliver their fans what they want instead of changing things up to appease the crowd that didn't even play their game the first time around. (You know, the people who complained about graphics and your character not being voiced)

Avoiding the game altogether, - This is what happened to me in DA.   I enjoyed it until the ending.  I tried all of the different backgrounds and still the same suck ending.  I didn't care for Zevran so I had to stop playing because it made me so angry.  Sold the xbox copy put the pc copy away.

I'll pick up DA2 because it's not a continuation and hope the characters and story are as good as DA.

Very disappointing, but if the voice acting is really TOP NOTCH (ie. leagues better than the Mark Meer delivery) I can handle it. It's not all bad, PC VO has a few positive aspects, but it will certainly be a very different experience in comparison to Origins. I'm still holding out hope for the _option_ of having Hawke voiceless... On the other hand, the article also mentioned that the story of DA2 will be all about Hawke and his lifestory. This is something really different and something BioWare has never done before. It will be a more strongly character driven story, and I'm really excited about that! :)

I found Mark Meers VO acting really dull and monotone. It was bordering on horrible sometimes. I liked Hales work, but I am not a fan of the gruff butch woman voice, she did everything short of grunting sometimes. My boyfriend found both annoying.

The point is I don't want to be limited this way. My imagination is enough, kthx. Worse comes to worse I guess I will just put it on mute.

Cringing at the thought of what the dialog wheel will look like.

So let me get this straight-

Because the lead is voiced and they're thinking about implementing a ME style dialogue system, suddenly its Mass Effect?

You people. Really? Come on now.

Mass Effect has been more successful across the board the DA:O has been, why wouldn't they shift the franchise more in line with what works best?

by your bad logic they should just design every game like madden since that's ea's most successful franchise.

So basically there's gonna be a good Hawke and a bad Hawke with a system like the paragon/renegade one from ME. I suppose playing your own character is completely out of the question now, you're either a douchebag Hawke or the messiah Hawke.

There should be a middle ground.  At least in ME1 and 2 I have never made the paragon or renegade title unless I tried for it.  Have you heard that they are only going to give us 2 reply options?

Hey that's awesome news! I just hope they use none of the default VAs from origins. I found most of them very annoying.

I feel sad. VO will destroy my char's individuality and break my emotional connection to him/her. It will be like in ME2: "What the hell are you saying, Shepard? I didn't mean THAT!"

The only 2 things that still can save the game for me, however, are an awesomest love-interest male character ever and an epic and unpredictable storyline.

Indeed!  She's one of BioWare's go-to gals for voices, after all.  Think it is about time she gets a prominent role again. :)

One of the most critically acclaimed aspects of Origins was how there was no morality meter in the game and the decisions were often just that: decisions. Based on this i doubt they'll adobt any kind of paragon/renegade system for DA2, where we only have a good option, a neutral option and an evil option. I'm expecting something much more diverse and complex. Even if it is full voiced.

Example:
"Alright I got three options here... let's see"
Paragon: Yes
Neutral: Maybe
Renegade: No
"Alright let's pick 'No'"
(Shepard punches man)

Exactly. I only buy so many games a year. And it seems both The Witcher 2 and DA2 will be coming out in the spring. The Witcher 2 actually seems like a sequel and not a spin off. I just don't understand what the hell BioWare is thinking right now....you had a good thing in DAO, why are you mucking this up so much?
