I watched this documentary last night and was quite engaged from start to finish. The documentary chronicles the history of American horror from the very first film up until the mid 2000's. There are quite a few horror legends that give interviews and disect the cultural impact that their films had vs the mainstream films. Some of the more notable comments were from Romero and Carpenter. I was surprised to see how much influence the counterculture movement had on horror movies. These guys are smart and aware of the trends going on in this country.
It just goes to show you how much thought and socially relevant these horror movies are contrary to what the mainstream media says about them. Near the end the documentary gets very eerie with some of the comments made by the directors. Pay attention, in particular, to what Carpenter says in the beginning then restates his point in reference to the current state of America and it's policies. A must watch for horror fans and for anyone who looks at things on a semi intellectual level.
NIghtmares in Red, White, and Blue- If your a horror fan don't miss this documentary.
