Ignoring the fact that you're passing judgement on images that are lower resolution than what my ****ing phone can do, I completely fail to see what was so bad about the graphics in the original Dragon Age. Sure, it didn't have the technical polish of Mass Effect 2, but at no point during my playthrough did I go "Wow, this game looks like trash."thisisdell wrote...
Wow, the game looks horrible graphically. I was hoping for a look more like the concept art. Its official, the only game that Bioware made that has good graphics is Mass Effect 2.

I actually think these look pretty good, the second picture looks much more detailed than what we've seen in Origins.
Considering Origins had one of the worst texture qualities I've ever seen from a AAA title in the past 5 years that's not saying a whole lot.

Presumably the finished product will have a slightly higher resolution.

I love DA:O. It was my favorite game from 2009. That doesn't change the fact that it was the most boring game to look at. They could have called it Dragon Age: Vanilla. I really hoped it would look more like the conept art. So when people looked at DA2 and then looked at random Lord of the Rings inspired RPG of 2011 they could tell a difference.
Its Bioware though so it will have a good story and I will of course love it. Damn Bioware's epicness. =/

Oh, you're referring to art direction rather than the actual graphical fidelity (texture resolution, shaders, etc). In that respect, I agree with you; the art direction was lacking.thisisdell wrote...

Actually that is in relation to the box art

Sorry to be unclear. I played it on PC also and the game looked great and ran perfect. It just didn't stand out from other RPG's. It was just a boring art style I guess. Sorry I tangled my words. =)

I don't know. Every where it says the game will feature a new art style. There is nothing new about these screen shots in terms of art style.
*Crosses fingers and hopes for a game that looks like the concept art*

Now to sit back and watch people embarrass themselves by trying to critique the graphics of the game from these tiny pictures.

Room for another? I can't quite wrap my head around the fact people are seriously critiquing the graphics from those two very early screenshots! Some people honestly think that looks like TOR? Madness!
That said I remember everyone running around like headless chickens complaining about absolutely everything on the run up to ME2's release... I think most of us are pretty happy with what Bioware came up with for that one.

Right- I think many of the graphical "problems" people had with Origins wasn't so much with the visual style, but more with the technical graphical fidelity lacking in comparison to modern games. The lighting, textures and shadows are all quite poor and from what little you can see, the technical side of the graphics really doesn't look like its improved much at all.
But I'll wait for high res shots and gameplay videos...

That's usually nothing compared to the huge outcry that accompany's any game release on their forums. When DAO released, the forums were a complete cesspool, same with ME2. It's the nature of the beast with game forums these days (I don't recall it being quite so bad 10 years ago, for example, but then again that might just be nostalgia kicking in).

Let me guess, baby's first RPG in console version? They have a total of 5 paragraphs and 5 sentences with full info. Two SMALL screenshots. And already, people are jumping to conclusions.
Sad, actually.
