I am glad to hear that Hawke will have a voice in DA2. I find it easier to care about the main character if he/she has a voice.

However, I understand other players find a silent protagonist more immersive, since it makes it easier to project themselves into the role of the character.

What they should do is present an option.

Players who want a voiced character can have a voiced character, with ME style dialogue choices that only outline the intention of what you are about to say.

Players who want to imagine the character as themselves can have a silent protagonist, and the dialogue choices detail exactly what your character is going to say.

Seems fairly simple to me.

Dave of Canada wrote...
Voice acting limits imagination, I can't create a suave character if there's no suave dialogue.

But how can you create a character that has any lines at all? The writers have already written your dialogue for you! I know how you feel, though. I was sorely disappointed in not being able to create a one-armed transgendered alien lizardman who only spoke in song lyrics in DAO. Talk about limiting my imagination... :P

I'm just saying it's a little silly to create the entire game in one's head based on what little information has been released, concentrate on one's pet feature, then say the game's going to be ruined because it's different from the utopian ideal one has built up mentally.

And even if I had information to give you, remember, i'm the mean one. I'd charge you a jillion pies for it. :)

Sorry, folks, but if you wish to continue discussing player VO, you can do so in this thread which seems to be trucking along nicely. Thank you.

End of line.
