First of I loved Dragon age Origins. I loved the choices and everything else that came with it.
Now they tell me,

*I cant be a elf or Dwarf
*I have to be some Hawke guy and not my own character
*Hawke has to be voiced, and no doubt Mass effect dialogs That says something completely different to what it says on screen. There is alot more reasons but I wont go into them all.

What Im going to say is Bioware you have lost yourself a fan and a sale. Im 100% sure Im not buying Dragon age 2. Everything you have told us so far has been a disapointment to me.Your making are choices for us, You might as well play the game yourself. your fantasy rpg now. Not mine. I know some people are saying " oh well you had to be Cousland or whatever" But Cousland didnt have a voice.

No, I don't make such drastic decisions with very little information. I suggest at least waiting until GI releases more than a paragraph of information before jumping to conclusions.

I won't say I'm not dismayed by some of the changes from the tried-and-apparently-true formula that we all loved in DA:O. Right away, with Awakening, they started changing things, important things. DA:O was wildly popular; I'm not sure why there's so much tinkering going on with the "soul" of the game. Make some changes, sure, but don't gut it.

That said, it's still very early, and this is still BioWare we're talking about. It's going to be a great game, whether it still feels like Dragon Age or not. I'm still definitely buying it, and I'd bet money you will too, eventually. ;)

1. Yes that blows

2. Well we will see to what extent 'some Hawke guy' can be my or your own character.  It may be just as much as 'some Warden guy' was or was not your character in DA.

3. Will it be like ME?  Or will the actor just say the line in a DA dialog system?

Going by this argument, Cousland, Aeducan, Brosca, etc... weren't really your characters either.

Despite reason for most of us to be cautious, I do agree and say that it's best if we wait a bit before making any big decisions on whether we want to follow this sequel or not.

I'm a little bummed as well, but give BioWare a chance. They could do something more cinematic than ever. I'm keeping an open mind.

In Leliana's Song you get even less control than Mass Effect.  You pick a short line of dialogue than several lines are exchanged between characters before you get another option.

I can see BioWare going this route.  It will be firmly in line with the cost-cutting production David Gaider has been more than hinting at on these forums since Awakening was released.

Dude, last time many ppl were complaining about: 'I hate that my char has no vice, etc.'

Now, that they are voicing him/her, every1 whining about that.

Pathetic.

Hawke will still be customizable. U just have a concrete name, U had concrete name in DAO (Cousland for example)

So stop the f***n crying, we just have very few info about DA2, its still way too early to judge it already.

I really cant stand ppl like him. Crying about everything, even if he has no idea how DAO2 will look like.

Considering that we know almost nothing about the game i'd say it's to early to make assumptions.

I suppose DA2 actually will a very good game, and millions of people will buy or download it.

I'll give it a chance but I'm genuinely curious what the motivations were for these changes? And more importantly are all future DA games going to be like this with the full VO and cartoony graphics? Or is it a one time deal for Hawke's story?

This seems like typical EA...make a game as skimpy as possible and sell it for five to six times what it is worth.

The things we do know about the game are well...game breakers to many people who want the immersion of playing their own character. Making a character your own on creation has the following crtiteria:

-The ability to choose your race

-The ability to customize your look, from pigmentation, to face shape to hairstyle

-The ability to choose your name (if you are part of an existing family and are given a family name thats fine, but the first name is YOURS to choose)

Sorry, I don't want to play someone elses character, I want to play my own and so do many others.

This is all information that has been confirmed, and while some have called it "little" information, it certainly is enough to be a deal breaker for a lot of people.

Good job EAoware

On the contrary, if any of you had played previous Bioware games you'd be aware that DAO was very much the odd man out.

In Baldur's Gate, you had the same story no matter what race or class you picked.

Neverwinter Nights? Ditto.

KOTOR? Oh, yes.

Jade Empire? Yup.

Mass Effect? Obviously.

Just like in real life.  All the distinctions that really matter.

I don't see a problem. The only thing you are not getting from that list is the first one which I'm sure isn't that big of a deal in the end. In origins the race barely made a difference.

And you will be able to do 2) and 3), only not 1).

You still get to customize your look, stated in the Five Facts that's stickied. and Hawke might be a last name, kinda like how Shepard was a last name.....more than likely you'll be able to choose a first name but everyone will call you by Hawke since that's easier to voice like they did in ME and ME2.

There are hundreds of ways of making a character your own, choices you make in game, the way you act towards npc's etc, that's what bioware does best and anyone who calls themselves a bioware fan should be aware of this.

We don't know that.  The Mass Effect dialogue system is an abomination that has no place in any game that claims to permit roleplaying (as any game with the RPG label explicitly does), so let's not jump to conclusions.

The voice alone is a problem, yes, but let's not just assume they're going to implement that voice in the worst possible way.

I am also very disappointed by every single bit of information they released. I think I could be wrong, and they surpise me in a positive way, but even DA:O was a bit of a letdown to my expectations (they promised me a Baldur's Gate). I never played the Witcher for the one reason of predefined hero instead of letting me make my own, on the other hand I played ME and liked it. Anyway, they better get no bad ratings when they release game, since if I get the slightest hint that my worst fears come true I am also not buying.

I will jump to conclusions. Because do you not think that the leliana DLC dialog and voice is the direction they are going with Dragon age 2? I think it is. I know it is.Image IPB

Maybe you didn't get to make massive choices in the Leliana DLC because well... She's not your character? Having her going around butchering orphanges wouldn't have fitted well with her character in DA:O y'know.

Why necessarily keep something exactly the same just because it isn't broken? Different can be good. Personally, I don't want to spend money on buying Origins again, since I already own Origins. I would like a new game, allbeit one set in the DA Universe, and if Bio are doing something a bit different then that's cool.
